“Um… Rose, how are you?”
“Good.” I replied slowly, not really seeing where he was going with this. I wasn't really thinking straight, I never did when he was around.
“School alright?” He asked me, pushing his hair out of his face. He looked hot when he did that. Fuck off, I told myself. What is wrong with me! I am telling myself to fuck off! How sad is that?
"It's okay, it's quite tiring though, with head duties and Quidditch on top of school work. The first match of the season is coming up, so we've been training really hard so that we can win.”
“You really think that you can beat Ravenclaw?” He asked, the corners of his mouth twitching. “What gave you that idea?”
“Only that we've done it every other year.”
“That's only because you're on the team.”
“What?” I asked, sure that I had misheard.
“You're an amazing Quidditch player you know.” He was starting to lean towards me. Did he want to… kiss me?
Blushing furiously, I didn't know what to say, so I settled for “Thanks.” And then his lips were on mine.
At first, I was so stunned that I didn't do anything. But after a few moments, I gathered my thoughts, and my arms were around his neck pulling him closer.
Suddenly he pulled back, and I was worried that I had done something wrong, but all he said was,
“Do you want to come to Hogsmeade with me next weekend?”
“Yes.” I breathed back, and then we were kissing again, and I never wanted it to end.
Once he was done kissing me, my friends, who had obviously seen us, came over to us.
“No boy, my arse.” Nalini scoffed. Adam turned to look at me amused and mouthed,
“What was that about?”
“I'll tell you later.” I mouthed back.
“Um… guys, you might want to get out of here, Madame Pince has seen you.” We looked around, and, sure enough, there was Madame Pince walking towards us, looking furious.
Before she could start screaming at us, I said to my friends,
“I'll see you later.” And quickly hurried out of the library, never letting go of Adam’s arm.
Once we had found an empty classroom and put a colloportus charm on the door, something had occurred to me.
“Why me, Adam? Practically half the girls in the school want to go out with you, why me?”
He stayed silent for a moment before replying. “Because you are not half the girls in the school, you are Rose Granger-Weasley, and you are the prettiest, most kind-hearted girl that I have ever met.”
I searched his face for a sign that he was lying, but I didn't find one, his eyes were so sincere, and his face so serious, that I found that I didn't have any problem believing him.
“Thank you.” I replied,a bit shocked.
“What did Thomas mean when she said a about there being no boy?”
“Oh, we were doing homework, but they thought I seemed a bit distracted. I mean, I was, because I was having an inner battle about whether or not you liked me.”
“Right.” He said smiling, and I felt myself go red. “And then?”
“Well, they kept bugging me when I told them that I didn't have a crush on anyone, so I moved tables, and that's where you found me.”
“It's a good job that you did move tables, I would have been too shy to ask you out in front of all your friends.” I stared at him in surprise. Adam Jenkins, head boy of Hogwarts and second most popular boy in the school, was shy of girls?
“What?” He asked, after a second.
“It's just, well, I never really thought of you as someone who was scared of girls and stuff.”
“Oh, well I'm not normally, but I just didn't want to ask you out in front of your friends incase you said no. You see, I didn't really know what you thought of me. I thought you didn't like me.”
“But why would you think that?” I asked in surprise.
“Well, whenever you caught me looking at you, which, mind, was only about an eighth of the time that I was actually watching you, you furrowed your eyebrows and turned away, and when we were patrolling together, you never seemed anything other than friendly to me.”
“Oh!” I had never thought that he could have seen it like that. “I furrowed my eyebrows because I couldn't work out if you wanted to go out me or not, but I didn't want to get my hopes up. I've had a crush in you for ages though.”
“Oh well, we together now.” Adam replied, and pulled me towards him. This time the kissing became more passionate, and I felt his tongue trying to push its way into my mouth, and I let it, mine also going into his. As I pulled him closer to me, I felt completely at peace with the world.
Eventually we stopped, realising that it was nearly curfew, and it wouldn't look good to be caught out of bed after hours as head boy and girl. Promising each other that we would meet in the entrance hall tomorrow before breakfast, we headed to bed.
Back in the dorm, the other girls were keen to get all the gossip. As soon as I entered, he other girls bombarded me with questions.
“How did that happen?”
“Did you know?”
“If you did, why didn't you tell us?”
“Where did you go once you left the library?”
“What did you do?”
“Was he sweet?”
“Guys, calm down.” I laughed. “One at a time.” Once they decided to listen to me, I started to answer the questions.
“He asked if he could sit with me once I left your table in the library, and I said yes. No, I didn't know it was going to happen, but I did have suspicions. I didn't tell you because I thought that it couldn't be true, someone like him would never look at someone like me, we’re in completely different leagues, you know what I mean?” The rest of the girls nodded. “Anyway, once we left the library, we found an empty classroom and locked the door. We talked for a bit, and then well…” I trailed off blushing.
“You let your tongues do the rest of the work?” Nalini offered. I glared at her, even though she was pretty much spot on anyway.
“Was he sweet?” Layla repeated her last question.
“Very.” I replied, thinking about the last two hours.
“I think someone's in loveeeee.” Abby drawled.
“Shut up.” I said tiredly.
Kayla, ever the peace-maker, said “Come on guys, let's go to sleep.”
For the rest of that week, my mind was mainly on Quidditch, so I barely got to spend any time with Adam. We had a Quidditch match against Ravenclaw that weekend, so I the team was up and on the Quidditch field at 6 am every morning, and sometimes in the evening as well. I was determined not to lose, as I really wanted to win the Quidditch cup this year, as it was my final year.
Adam was actually dealing very well with what comes with being my boyfriend – being jinxed by Scorpius Malfoy. I had promised him that once he Quidditch match was over, I would deal with Malfoy, and I had every intention of doing so. How dare he go round jinxing my boyfriend just because he is jealous?!
On the morning of the match, I came downstairs, full of adrenaline about the day ahead. However, Adam was late to meet me, so I had to go into breakfast without him. Inside the Great Hall, I found a very pale and sickly looking Louis Weasley. Sitting down next to him, I helped myself to some toast.
“Bloody hell, Louis, you look shit. What's wrong?”
“I'm scared.” Louis replied. “You shouldn't have chosen me to be on the team. I'm rubbish.”
“No, Louis, you're not. Do you really think that I would have chosen you if you were? Now hurry up and eat, g-d knows that you need to.”
“But what if I fail?”
“You won't g-d damn fail Louis! You're a fucking Weasley! Now hurry up and eat some breakfast!” I shouted, started to get annoyed at him.
“Thanks Rose.” Louis said quietly.
“Oh, come on Louis, you'll do brilliant.” I said, softening and putting my arm around him. “Now, eat. You'll feel better once you do.”
Once he had finally eaten some breakfast, I gathered up the rest of the team and left the hall.
Louis looked a lot better as we walked out onto the field, something I was very grateful for, as I was determined to win this match. We all took our positions around the pitch, and waited for Madame Chang to release the quaffle, when she did, I caught it, passed to Lily, who passed it to Chloe who scored. Yes, the Gryffindor team was mainly made up of the Wotter family, with me and Lily as chasers, Louis as keeper, and Roxy as seeker. The two beaters, however, were not related to me. They were called Josh Michelson and Charlotte Finnegan, and the third chaser was Chloe Williams.
One hour into the game, we were winning 80-70. Louis was doing amazingly, blocking most of the Eagles shots (I know, it's ridiculous that Ravenclaws are eagles, Rowena Ravenclaw has some fucking serious explaining to do). The crowd had started singing my song, although now it was all of the Weasleys’ song: Weasley is our King, and I was enjoying it. I could tell the rest of my family was as well.
Two hours into the game. We were winning 160-110, but everyone was starting to get tired. At one point, I flew up to Roxy, and shouted at her.
“Please try and catch the snitch as fast as you can!”
Three hours into the game, and there was still no sign of the snitch. The score was now 200-160, but all I could think about was the game ending. Finally, the seekers saw the snitch, and started a breath-taking dive. Roxy leaned forward, about to catch it when…
BAM! And everything went black
