Hello! Here for the HPFF Review-A-Thon!

This is such a great story. I love Teddy and Victoire.

I really like the idea that he'd still miss his parents so much. They are such a big part of his life even though Teddy never knew them. He misses them still. He seems like such a fun guy here too. And I love his friendship with Vic.

I really like the idea of him being upset around his birthday because his parents aren't there to celebrate with him. And because it's so close to the anniversary of their death and the end of a horrific war. I do wonder how Victoire feels about her birthday since it falls right on the anniversary. I wonder if that's something that draws her and Teddy together or apart. Both their families are affected by the war differently I guess. Victoire can see the scars from war on her parents and Teddy can't see his parents at all.

I love that Harry gave Teddy the Marauders map. I just cannot imagine how much holding that map would have meant to Teddy. It meant so much to Harry to know that his father helped make it and now Teddy has something that his father made too. And it'll help him get into more wild shenanigans.

I love this. Thanks for sharing.

Stefanie

Author's Response: I'm so glad you liked this story. It is something to consider, would their birthdays falling so close/on anniversaries of deaths bring them closer or apart.. It could really go either way, but I'd like to think it would bring them closer. Their families had both lost people, even though it was closer to Teddy.

I loved Harry giving the map to Teddy too, it's something they can share.

Thanks for reviewing!!

Hello there!

I'm finally here to leave you a review for the HPFF Review-A-Thon!

This was such a cute little story! I completely LOVED it! Teddy's thoughts and reactions throughout the story felt so real to me. Teddy surely wouldn't have wanted to celebrate his birthday, the grief over the fact that his parents died just a month after would surely have haunted him. Teddy feeling weird on full moon seems highly probable. He must have got some side-effects of Remus's lycanthropy.

All Teddy and Victoire's interactions were so, so cute! Though it was clear that Teddy is smitten by her, the way Victoire acts around him and the lengths she goes to make sure that Teddy is happy on his birthday shows that she has strong feelings for him too. The kiss on the cheek in the end was so sweet!

Harry gifting Teddy the Marauder's Map- this is totally my headcanon!! Harry would have wanted to gift it to Harry so that Teddy could atleast hold on to something which shows that his father was real! Who else would know the importance of such a thing other than Harry!?

I absolutely ADORED this story! Thanks for sharing it with us!

xoxo
Emm

Author's Response: Aww, I'm soo happy that you loved it :D
I'm glad what I thought about his Lycanthropy agrees with you, it makes sense right?

It was a bit hard to write teens, but they seemed so natural together it pretty much wrote itself.

It was important for Harry to give Teddy something of importance for his 15th I'm so glad you liked it :D

Thank you for the lovely review, I have a few other really cute one-shots, I hope you give them a try too :)

For the HPFF Review-A-Thon

Why are the days Im depressed always so sunny and cheerful?

I feel the same Teddy. I feel the same.

Maybe when they were younger hed talk about his feelings, but he was turning 15. Surely guys stopped talking about their feelings by then.

Aw. Even though Im only halfway through the story I can already confirm its really cute. I love the way youve written Teddy here. Its hard to keep kids in character, especially at that age. I know its something I struggle with so I tend to write everyone older, post-Hogwarts, fresh out of school.

I like his interaction with Vic. Shes a little aloof, which makes her charming.

I smiled through the entire story. This was something I needed to read because I was in a horrible mood but now Im not. Im grinning from ear to ear. I knew she was going to give him a kiss in the end but I like that it was sweet and innocent. Totally in tune to their characters and age.

I thought the exchange with Harry was nice. You could have maybe built up the anticipation more because it happened rather abruptly but it didn't mess up the flow too much. I definitely think he would've given Teddy the map to later have him pass it down to James who would in turn give it to Albus. I just feel like that's how the map works, you know? So I especially liked that was his gift as well.

Author's Response: Kay, Hi! I waited a bit longer than usual to answer back, but rereading the review now was actually a good thing. I'm in a horrible mood now too and it made me happier to know that I made you smile when you were unhappy. It was really the first time I tried Next Gen, let alone write that age, so I'm happy I did well :) Teddy and Vic are extremely innocent at that age, so their first kiss had to be too, I loved writing it.
I'm so glad you liked the whole story and that it made you smile. That's such important feedback for a writer, that you evoke emotion to the readers :)
Thank you so much for reviewing!

FOR THE HPFF REVIEW-A-THON

Ahh Teddy Lupin! I simply love the idea of Teddy Lupin so I'm excited to click in!

his parents in heaven were trying to cheer him up - This is so sweet!!

I dont want to talk about it, He grumbled. - This is SOOO Remus Lupin. Honestly! I can imagine Tonks being open about her feelings, but only Remus would keep them close to his chest... and be grouchy at that too (all the self pity thing). It's amazing that you have portrayed Teddy inheriting this. Love this characterization!

Plus he is all cute when he thinks about Victoire. So boyish, and so smitten! And he's all embarassed about her coming into the dorm and worried what other guys will think. And Victoire, quite clever of her I must say, the lingering hugs. She's so caring, and pretty, and hugs him all the time. In the end, when she kisses his cheeks... aw!

And TEDDY GETS THE MARAUDERS MAP! Ahhh!!! It is so poetic! Because Harry had it when he needed it the most, and now it's Teddy's legacy more than it is James Sirius Potter's. LOVE the fact that Harry gave him the map and told him about his dad, that must have meant more to Teddy than anything else. So. Sweet. Shows how good a godfather Harry is by their conversation - Teddy seems to love and respect Harry so much. Ahhh, it's all too sweet!

And really, the whole family coming together to celebrate his birthday is just so awesome! Especially since he was dreading it so much.

Thank you for the wonderful read Heather! You're a fabulous writer. Hope you write more Teddy :D

XOXO
~Ysh

Author's Response: I'm so glad you loved it lol, it was fun to read. I don't know what made me write some of the really lovely things that went into this story, but I'm so glad you liked it just as much :)
Thank you for the encouragement to write Teddy more, I don't have any plans to yet, but I'll keep it in mind for sure!
This was such a great review, I really appreciate it :D

Review #5, by maraudertimes Cheer Up

5th March 2016:
Hello! This is for the HPFF Review-a-Thon and our review swap!

This is honestly so cute. I think my favourite part is seeing into Teddy's mind as he begins to have feelings for Victoire, even at that age. It's kind of puppy love at this point, at least for her, and I'm almost certain it's obvious to everyone else, so it's really sweet and funny to read about his point of view on the situation whenever she's near her or even when she kisses his cheek. Ugh tiny love! And the fact that obviously he likes her ugh!!!

The fact that his entire family (and yes they are his family no one can argue this with me) came together to celebrate his birthday - and at Honeydukes no less! It warms my heart and it's so cute that they know that he would obviously have a bit of a hard time around that time of year, especially with his parents being gone.

AND THEN HARRY. The map being his present for his birthday is so cute. It obviously meant so much to Harry, and he knew that, so him giving it to Teddy means that much more, because not only is he giving Teddy an amazing gift, not only is he giving Teddy something that Remus made, not only is he giving Teddy something that he himself cherishes (I am of the belief that Teddy views Harry as a father figure so this is very important), Harry is giving Teddy something that Harry's father helped create. In doing so, he is relinquishing one of the only things his father left him, all because he wants the legacy to pass on, and he believes that Teddy is worthy enough.

(please excuse me I'm going to go cry)

Ugh this was just a truly amazing and heart-warming story! You did a really good job! Thanks for the swap!
Lo :)

Author's Response: Ahh, you're going to make me cry too! I'm so glad you love everything I love about this story. I thought of that too, Harry giving up something his father left him, but his father also left the invisibility cloak and Teddy doesn't have anything else of his (right now, I haven't thought of anything anyway :P) so it's very important that Teddy have something to Harry. I also believe Harry really Really raised Teddy. My head Cannon is that Andromeda, though she loves Teddy, was also suffering from all she lost... I may have to write about this actually, so I'll leave it there. But I think it affected her enough she needed Harry's help in a big way.

I'm so happy you loved this and it left me with a huge grin :D
Thank you!

Review #6, by Jayna Cheer Up

For the HPFF Review-A-Thon

Hey there Heather! As one of the many people (what is it now, 6? 7?) people pledging in the review-a-thon, I thought that it would be nice if you received a review from the aforementioned review-a-thon, and this story looked like it could use a little love.

So anyway, this was a sweet, quick read that was tied together really well. It seemed that there were three main reasons that this was Teddy's best birthday, and of those three, you managed to set two of them up really well throughout the story. It helped so that when Teddy actually received his presents and got the big surprise, the reader already knew that it was a big deal.

Having Teddy receive the Map as a birthday present was a brilliant idea. It gave him a connection to his dad, and it also set up a really nice parallel between Teddy and Harry. Harry had the same kind of feelings when he found out the map was made by his dad, and he received it in the same(ish) way. In addition, it really felt like a gift that a father figure would give, so it also made the connection between Harry and Teddy appear stronger. I think that my favorite part was actually just the passing line where it talked about how when it was sunny and he was sad, it was his parents trying to cheer him up. It definitely reminded the reader of all Teddy's been through and was a great bittersweet contrast to the fluffy sweet of the rest of the story. In addition, it's also just a really creative way of thinking about it.

In addition, it was nice that along with the whole birthday surprise plotline you also had a sort of second plotline about Victorie and how their relationship progressed.

Anyway, this was a great, quick read, I hope to get to know you better in the future, and thanks for sponsoring this fabulous site!

-Jayna

Author's Response: Awww thank you so much! I definitely wanted to have some tie-ins with Harry and Teddy and their connection to the Marauder's Map, but I have to say, it was mostly about making sure Teddy had a Great Birthday. About the time I wrote it I was going through the worst time of my life and grieving. I knew I wanted to get this story entered though, and kept at it. It was a wonderful way to express my emotions and stay positive at the same time. I'd love to get to know you too though. I completely appreciate the review!
Thanks
-Heather
