Riley was orphaned as a young child, and raised by muggles until she received her Hogwarts letter. Dumbledore found her a place with Mrs. Platt, a respectable witch. Unfortunately, she got sick during Riley's third year. Riley was then trained to become an animagus, so she could take of herself in wolf form.
This takes place in Riley's fifth year at Hogwarts.
