To say her life changed would be a bit of a lie, seeing as her life's still the same, she just never realized how different it was. Alex Knighte is a relatively normal witch. Sure she's home schooled by her Hogwarts drop-out godfather, sure she works as his assistant for his small time business, but that didn't mean she was a freak. The part where she hears voices in her head, has psychotic hallucinations, and may or may not be cursed to be the human replica of a dementor- that's where the freak part comes in. Of course, none of that 'freak' stuff happened before she came to Hogwarts.
