Harry had offically made his decision a few days ago, it was actually kind of always there he just hadn't really decided to act on it. Now however came the more difficult part, first of all he wasn't sure how to actually do it properly and he wasn't sure at all who he should(or was suppossed to) tell first. He assumed it was similar to the muggle customs but wasn't sure and didn't want to do it the wrong way.
Normally he would ask Ron or maybe Hermione but he couldn't decide if they should know just yet, and Hermione's likely explosion of emotion made Harry cautious.
