My name is Poppy and I live in the small, rather rubbish town of Morden, near Wimbledon in London. I've always written poetry and stories since I was about 6 and started reading the Harry Potter books to myself aged 5.

She didn’t answer straight away, but her gaze abandoned his dark, twinkling eyes in favour of the sunless, snowy landscape that lay outside of the window. He watched her brow crease and she appeared to take a deep breath before turning back to him. Her pale lips parted as if to speak, but she stammered slightly and clamped them shut.

The door closes and her eyes shut once again. She focuses every ounce of her being on the miniscule particles of light that flick around her closed eyelids. She can still feel her thumb digging into the desk; the movement doesn’t feel like hers anymore.
