The effortless moon was giant tonight. It made a sparkling reflection on the surface of the great lake, illuminating the wide ripples like a dusty silk gown. He could see her figure on the edge of the lake, slowly wading up to her waist in the quiet water, her skin white as a ghost. It must be freezing Scorpius thought, pulling on his hood and shifting in the tree. He knew watching this would make things worse, and yet he couldn't move.
