Alyssum was six when her mother died. Her father, Charles fell into a horrid state of depression and self pity. Charles worked as a diener for the mortuary, and when he was not at work, he was shut up in his room. For years, her father negelcted her. She felt trapped in a hopeless world. She spent much of her time at friends houses, who's parents pittied her. She was such a sweet child that they did not mind looking after her. One day, Alyssum would be introduced to a whole new world of wonder, happiness, and excitement. A world where she belonged.
