Because of his age, his mother and uncle, David Longbottom, are responsible for all of his duties until he finishes his education. Queen Mother Dorea is very protective of her only son, so James has spent the first eleven years of his life sheltered at the palace. However, now he's off to Hogwarts where he will try to keep his identity a secret and have a normal childhood. Or that's the plan. AU.
