She was gone. She would never return. She was just gone, gone forever. He wanted her to come back. He wanted to change the past. The future wouldn’t be this way if she hadn’t of died.
But somehow he wanted the memory of her to fade away. He wanted to move on. He got with other girls hoping she would go from his mind.
Attempt after attempt failed and he would stay up at night silently cursing the world. He just wanted to forget. He wanted her out of his mind.
He never could understand why he would never forget her. He never knew she was still with him, watching over him, keeping him safe.
She was with him everywhere. She was there when the Malfoy mansion caught fire and he had to stay in a hotel. He always keeps it dark. She always there when he drinks himself to unconsciousness.
When Draco would scream and yell, all she could do was watch and try to comfort him. She tried to make feel her presence, but he never did.
She watched helplessly as he would toss and turn in his bed muttering to himself.
“Mione, Oh Mione, why did you have to go?”
Pain tore at Hermione’s heart as she watched him from above. She closed her eyes. She remembered the night like it was yesterday.
The dark lord had fallen, but Death Eaters still were out there. What Hermione didn’t know was that Draco was one of them.
She went over to the Malfoy Mansion like she did almost every night. Draco told her to wait in his den.
“Draco, you know what you must do.” said Lucious. Draco’s head dropped.
“I can’t do it father, I love her!” replied Draco. Lucious glared at his son.
“You are not in love! You were supposed to lie to her!” hissed Lucious.
“You’re right father, I am not in love with the mudblood.” lied Draco. Lucious eyed his son suspiciously.
Draco sighed and pulled out his wand. He opened the door and slipped inside. Hermione sat on the couch staring into the fire.
He looked at her and lowered his wand. He just couldn’t do it. Draco turned around and slipped silently out of the room.
“Did you kill her?” asked Lucious. Draco nodded stiffly.
Lucious stepped towards the door. “I will dispose of her body then….”
“No!” yelled Draco. Lucious turned towards him. “You can’t go in there…”
“I gave you orders to kill her! Why did you not obey me?!” hissed Lucious, grabbing Draco by the throat.
Draco gasped for air. “I… I love her….”
Lusious tightened his grip and Draco felt his eye lids get heavy. “If you can’t do it, I will do it myself.”
He let go and stalked into the room. Draco dropped on the ground and sucked in large amounts of air. He scrambled to his feet when he heard Hermione yell.
“Hold on Mione… I’m coming…” said Draco, as he tried to regain his consciousness.
“Avada Kedavra!” shouted Lucious. Hermione’s screams echoed the room and finally everything went silent.
Draco stumbled into the room right as Lucious disappeared. Draco looked at Hermione’s lifeless body lying on the floor.
“Hermione!” Draco yelled as he ran over to her. He looked down at her. Her eyes were open and he mouth was slightly open. Draco sank to the ground in tears.
“Mione….” he whispered. He gently closed her eyes and held her hand, stroking it slightly. “I love you Hermione Granger.”
Hermione opened her eyes and looked at Draco. His hair was everywhere, his clothes were a mess and it looked like he hadn’t shaved in weeks. He was sitting in a ripped chair by the window with his head in his hands.
Hermione walked over to him and rested a hand on his shoulder.
He shifted at her touch. A smile spread across her face. Maybe he did feel her presence, maybe he would move on.
“Why Mione… why did I have to fall in love with you? Why god dammit! Why did you have to fall back? Why?!” yelled Draco to no one. He looked out into the room, tears falling freely down his face. “Why am I so empty without you Hermione?! I know you’re here! I can feel it!”
Hermione’s smile grew wider. He finally felt her, he would finally be safe.
Draco put his hand on his shoulder where Hermione’s hand was.
“I will always love you Mione…” said Draco.
Hermione pulled her hand away and began to walk away.
Draco sighed. He knew she would be with him forever.
