I looked up at Amber as she paced back and forth in front of the fire and explaining a few of her secrets to me.
“I’m telekinetic,” she finally said.
“What?” I asked.
“It means I can move things with my mind,” Amber answered patiently. “And, I think you’ve noticed; Sirius Black is my real father.”
I snorted at that.
“I’m almost sorry I didn’t tell you these things sooner,” said Amber quietly, still pacing.
“Amber, Amber,” I said, grabbing her arm to stop her from moving. “What are you so worried about? Voldemort’s dead, he’s not coming back.”
“But Dumbledore wanted Dad to stay with him,” said Amber worriedly, resuming to pace. “That means that he’s going to try and explain what happened that night when he was arrested and—”
I reached up and grabbed Amber’s hand again, this time pulling her down onto the couch next to me.
“He’s going to be fine,” I said. “With Dumbledore on your side, you can’t lose.”
Amber sighed and stared into my eyes.
“I hope you’re right,” she said.
I curled my arm around her shoulders as she set her head on my chest.
“Me too,” I whispered.
I lay back onto the couch, pulling Amber with me. I held her around her waist as she rested her head against my chest. I kissed her forehead and she looked up at me with a look of almost surprise.
“Wow,” she said.
“You’ve changed a lot.”
“It’s not a bad thing. I’m glad you did.”
She leaned forward a little and planted a firm kiss on my lips. When she pulled away, a smile played at her lips and she rested her head against my chest again.
“You know,” she said quietly. “I think I love you.”
I laughed a little.
“I love you, too,” I whispered to her.
