“Dinner is at seven o’clock” she said softly. It was dead quiet at the Potter house the whole day. When It was around five o’clock I had another visitor.
“Mum forgot to tell you that dinners are formal here.” James said
“I’m not wearing a dress” I said in a disgusted. I’m not a tomboy, but I don’t like wearing dresses either.
“You have to. unless you want to starve” James didn’t sound at all sarcastic, so I took his word for it.
“Fine” I said with my arms across my chest.
When James left I started screaming in my pillow. How could have this happened? The one thing I hate most is looking too girly, but now I’m forced.
I looked at the clock on my bedside table. I better hurry! It was almost six o’clock. I took a 15 minute shower and started combing out my hair. I hate my hair I can hardly do anything with it. I put on some lip gloss and put my hair up in a bun as best as I could.
I looked in the back of my closet and found about five dresses I could wear. I picked a fluffy black one with green jewels on them that matched perfectly with my eyes. I was ready to go.
I saw James waiting for me at the bottom of the stairs. He was wearing a deep blue button-down shirt with a pair of dress pants. He looked different from the James I knew.
“May I be your escort to the dinning hall?” he said in a suave voice
“Certainly” I said in a sarcastic voice, but I took his arm all the same.
“I’m surprised” he said with his eyebrows raised.
“Taking my arm” He said like it was obvious.
“I didn’t want to be rude.” I said truthfully.
“Rrrriiiigghttt”I rolled my eyes. I wasn’t going to argue with him right now and lose my temper.
“No comeback, Evans?”James said with a wide smile.
“ I don’t want to argue with you right now.”
“Your just falling for my charm” He said with a smirk.
“In your dreams.” I said rolling my eyes.
James was about to say something back but quickly closed his mouth. We had arrived at the dinning hall. It was beautiful. It had a huge, long table in the middle of the room. It had a magnificent chandelier, sparkling above the high ceiling.
I scanned the table and did a double-take when she saw an extra person at the table. Someone she’d rather not see there.
“Why’s Sirius here?”
“He lives here. You just haven’t been here long enough to notice.” he said in the corner of his mouth.
I sat between Sirius and James. There was sparkling ice water in front of each of us. James parents had wine. I wasn’t very thirsty, but I drank just to be polite.
“May I refill your drink Lily?” James asked in his suave voice. He didn’t even wait for me to answer. He refilled it anyway.
When the house elves started to arrive I started to feel a tickle in my throat.
Whatever you do don’t cough. I said to myself. It was still there 10 minutes later. I couldn’t stand it anymore. I coughed.
“Are you catching a cold?”, asked Mrs. Potter.
“I don’t know.” I said. Suddenly my coughs started getting heavier. What was this? I was coughing and couldn’t stop.
“Can *cough* I be *cough* excused *cough*”
“You may” She sounded weird. I never heard her sound like that.
I ran up the stairs, still coughing. I feel so bad. My thoughts were suddenly ripped out of out of my head when I started gagging. I ran as fast as I could. I barely made it. I threw up.
A half and hour the dinner was finished upstairs and I felt horrible.
“How are you feeling? Your all red.” She went toward me and felt my forehead.
“Your burning up.” she said in a worried voice. I could tell by the worry in her voice that this was bad.
“Are you sure your alright, dear? Do you want any soup?” Mrs. Potter said worriedly the next day.
“I don’t want anything Mrs. Potter. I think I’m just going to go to bed” I said gently. I said it truthfully too. I just didn’t want to deal with anyone right now.
“Well I’m going to call the family healer. You never know when it might be serious.”
An hour later the healer came in.
“Now, lets see what’s wrong with you” said the healer. He had black, wavy hair and watery blue eyes. I thought he chose every potion in the book. I probably tried 20 potions. I felt a lot better after his visit, but I was exhausted.
“This sickness has to get worse before it gets better.” said the healer. It can get worse? This must be bad. “Just keep an eye on her.” They started to walk outside talking quietly. They closed the doors and my eyes started getting heavy.
A young, maybe 10 or 11 year old girl was slowly walking down a deserted street. She had flaming red hair and sparkling green eyes. She had a letter in her hand and was smiling. She stopped at the biggest house on the block. James’ house. She knocked a few times and a boy with jet-black hair and hazel eyes answered.
“Hi Lily, I’ll be out in second.” James said.
“I have to tell you something” the girl said happily.
“Okay, I just have to put my sneakers on.” He said smiling.
“Kay” She said. She waited patiently for five minutes.
“So, what do you want to tell me?” asked James.
“Look at this letter I got today in the mail.” she said with a smirk.
James read the letter. He was white as a ghost when he finished reading.
“Isn’t it funny?” she asked eagerly.
“Er, Lily. This letter is serious. I know, because I’m a wizard too.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?” hurt was written all over her face.
“I had to keep it a secret. You’ll understand soon enough. Ill teach you all about the wizarding world”
