Jay woke up at about seven o'clock the next day. She had remembered more! Excitedly she made to put some clothes on and go tell Tom when she realised that she would need some new ones- the Train Station had been a bit smelly.
So instead she got out of bed with her oversized boxers (she was rather small than Tom, she was probably about 5'4' and he was about six foot) and baggy t shirt (same reason) and traipsed into the kitchen/living room saying, "Tom, I need new clothes."
What she didn't realise was that Tom only slept in his boxers and was currently in the kitchen making toast.
He turned around and she got a very nice view of a tanned extremely muscled chest before she spun away.
"Sorry!" she said, facing the wall determinedly.
"Oh…" said Tom, "I usually sleep like this… And I couldn't go into your room in case you were sleeping. I didn't want to wake you…"
"Please put a t shirt on…" Jay said, "I am now fourteen years old and this is making me rather awkward.
"Okay…" Tom said slowly, "So I'm guessing you've remembered third year."
Jay nodded, "Yes. Now please… A top…"
She heard him come over from the other side of the room and enter the bedroom, which involved brushing past her because she was in the doorway and refusing to move in case she accidentally saw him.
Tom came out about five minutes later fully dressed and ready in jeans and a t shirt which luckily was not tight because Jay did not want her imagination to go exploring after what she had just seen.
"This better?" asked Tom.
Jay nodded, "Um… I need girly stuff here, y'know, deodorant, make up, clothes, e.t.c.
Tom frowned, "You have clothes."
"Which smell like a waste factory." Jay pointed out.
"Okay, what do you want to wear?" Tom asked.
"Similar jeans, I don't know, The Siros band t-shirt, whatever."
Tom flicked his wand and conjured some clothes.
"Should be your size." he said. Then he conjured deodorant and a bag with Jay assumed had some sort of make up in.
"Underwear." Jay said pointedly.
Tom went a little red, flicking his wand yet again. "Okay… There you go… The bathroom has a mirror."
Jay picked up all the things he had conjured and marched straight off to the bathroom to get changed.
After pulling on her clothes (which were the right size which as sort of creepy) she put deodorant on and then rummaged in he make up back, laughing at several items- which she certainly did not need. She only ever used lip gloss- sometimes foundation. She put the rest to one side and then put the gloss on, then exited the bathroom.
"So, what did you remember?" he asked.
"Just third year. Will and Danielle broke up- ended up with him proposing- I overheard him do that." Jay shrugged, wondering whether she should tell him about what she and her friends had been doing.
"What?" Tom asked.
"What, what?" Jay replied.
"You were about to say something but then you decided not to." Tom said.
"How do you know?" Jay asked.
Tom shrugged, "I told you I sensed things."
Jay nodded, "Oh… Well, I just remembered we hated each others dates."
"You're lying." he said simply.
"No I most certainly am not!" Jay said indignantly, "We did, we both hated Madam Puddifoots too!"
Tom lazed back onto the sofa, "I don't mean we didn't hated each others dates. I mean that wasn't what you were going to tell me."
Jay bristled at his causal manner, "Are you reading my mind?"
"Yes and no." Tom said simply, "We both learnt basic Legimency and Occumency."
"Occumency… Dad mentioned that…"
"Legimency is the ability to detect lies, stuff like that, sometime delve into people's thoughts. Occumency is the shields and walls to stop that and protect your mind. Mind you, I can barely read you, you Occumency walls are still there even if you don't remember it." Tom sighed and watched her expression carefully.
"And who gave you the right to read my mind?" Jay snapped.
"Well if your keeping something from me that could help then you did." Tom shrugged, "Seems something pretty big… I can see a funny Amulet, and misty shapes…"
"Stop it!" Jay snapped, clutching her head as if it would get him out. She could feel a presence, "STOP IT!"
The sofa was thrown backwards and Tom toppled off. She felt him leave her mind.
"Whoah." Tom said, as he clambered to his feet. He tried to push the sofa up but received as large electric shock from the object, Jay was staring at it, gob smacked.
"What happened?" she asked, as Tom came to sit next to her.
"That's some of the things you used to be able to do." Tom told her, "Like wandless magic."
Jay stared at the sofa.
"You haven't used it for a while." He explained, "That's why I couldn't touch the sofa, because so much energy was going through it." He then looked down at the floor, "Look, Jay, I'm sorry I did that… I don't know why… I just thought you might be hiding something that could help."
"I'm not." Jay said shortly, deciding flat out not to tell him now.
"No, I am really sorry." Tom said, "I shouldn't have done that. Can you forgive me?"
Jay hesitated, then nodded, "Guess I'll have too." She smiled weakly, "Just no going into my head anymore."
Tom still looked uncertain so Jay opened her arms and hugged him.
"It's forgotten, okay?"
Tom smiled weakly. "It's just I wasn't taught to do that… I never should have… You should have thrown me out a window…"
"Now your overreacting." Jay smiled, still hugging him, "I mean, it's not that bad."
Tom took a deep breath and Jay could feel his heart beating at a rather unsteady rate.
Eventually Jay pulled back and got back onto her side of the sofa, facing him, "So where are we going today?"
"To find Ashley." Tom said, "I think I can track her, and we need answers." He glanced at Jay, "Look, I can find he and then come back to you… It'll be quicker."
"I'm coming." Jay said quickly, "I don't want to be left out."
Tom reluctantly agreed, "Come on. She might be at her flat. Let's floo there."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They did- but she wasn't there so they looked around her flat for clues but found none.
"Where else?" Jay asked.
"Well, there is Celeste and Chelsea's flat and David shares one with his new girlfriend, we could go there… And Chris lives at home at the moment… And Matt has a flat in Diagon Alley."
"How do you know if you've been gone for two years?" Jay asked.
Tom shrugged, "Well I sort of did some magical tracking when you went to sleep… Nothing you can't do when you remember everything."
Jay nodded.
However, Matt's flat was empty too, as was Chelsea's (where they assumed Celeste lived as well), and they were beginning to lose hope.
"Won't they be at work?" Jay asked.
"I don't actually have a clue what they do." Tom admitted, "So our best chance is to try and catch them early at home before they leave."
They had a bit of luck at David's flat, as his girlfriend was in.
"'Oo are you?" she asked Tom suspiciously, then she spotted Jay and hugged her in a greeting, "Jay! Tres good to see you, is this your boyfriend."
"Um… No." said Jay, "Um, sorry, but who are you?"
David's girlfriend frowned in her French Accent, "I'm Lucie… But you know me…"
"No she doesn't." Tom spoke for Jay, "She's sort of lost her memory."
Lucie frowned, "When?"
"Two weeks ago." Jay said, "I remember up to about the end of my third year at school now."
Lucie frowned deeper, "Aw, poor you… But you are getting better?" She smiled, "Anyway, you would not know me… I'm was in your year, but at Beauxbatons… I've been David's girlfriend for about a year now…" she said, "We met through his Oncle Bill, and Aunt in law Fleur 'Oo is my Mothers friend."
Jay nodded, "Oh… Er, not to sound rude but we really need to find David."
Lucie frowned, "'E said he would not be in for a while and to trust 'im… I think it was something to do with you actually. He said it might take even a couple of months but 'e would explain when 'e came back. 'E sounded so worried and desperate I just let 'im go…"
"Do you know where Ashley or anyone is?" Jay asked desperately.
Lucie shook her head, "Non. I am sorry I could not help you. Do you want to leave a message?"
"Don't tell anyone we've been here." Tom said, "Especially an Isaac Kingston, unless it's Ashley, Celeste, Chelsea, Matt or Chris or David himself. We need to speak to them."
"Wot is your name 'den?" Lucie asked.
"Tom." said Tom.
"Tom… Wait, no… Tom Black!" Lucie said, "'E speaks of you some times, they all do…Say you left. Is that not right?"
"No. I did leave." Tom said, "But remember, don't tell anyone except for them… We better go Jay."
"Bye." said Jay, as Tom drew out his packet of floo powder and gave some to her (he could not bring a jar as neither were wearing robes) and she stepped into the fireplace flooing to Chris's house.
-
"There's no one here." Jay said as Tom came through, "Uncle Ron and Aunt Hermione aren't here."
"They might have just left for work." Tom suggested, "Let's look for clues."
Jay nodded ad they both wandered around- Jay taking the upstairs and Tom the downstairs of their house.
"Tom!" Jay yelled, "Get up here!"
Tom ran up the stairs quickly towards her voice. It turned out she was in the master bedroom, where half the clothes were missing, some laying strewn on the floor.
"Loads of stuff is missing… I think they went somewhere… Do you think this has anything to do with me?"
Tom nodded, "Probably… But let's not make assumptions. I know where Hermione works… If she kept that job of course. Let me just apparate and see if she's there… It'll be quicker. It's in the Ministry." he looked at her pleadingly.
"Fine." Jay said, "Get back quickly."
Tom nodded and with a quiet crack he apparated.
He was back in about ten minutes.
"Apparently both are not there, they both just stopped turning up to work a couple of days ago. Owled in a holiday leave."
Jay nodded, "What now?" she asked.
"I guess we'll have to owl them and hope they haven't got tracking charms on." Tom said in a resigned voice.
"Wait." Jay said, "Paula!"
"What?" Tom frowned, "You mean…"
"Ashley's sister. She turned up fort he wedding and I swear she knows something. Isaac just said something to her and it sounded like it meant something different… Maybe blackmail?" Jay suggested.
"But why…?"
"I don't care." Jay said matter-of-factly, "Let's just find her."
-
It took Tom a few minutes alone to track her, and then he nodded, "Got her flat." he said.
"How do you do that?" she asked.
"Auror privileges. Can summon up files about people."
"Why didn't you do it for the Isaac guy?" Jay wanted to know.
"Because it doesn't have schools and stuff- just details like their house and all." Tom answered.
"Oh." said Jay, "Well come on, let's go."
-
They flooed to Paula's house and she almost jumped ten foot when Jay walked out of her fireplace and Tom came close behind.
"God you almost gave me a heart attack." Paula breathed heavily. "Now that was slightly scary."
"Can't chat." Jay said, "We need to find Ashley."
Paula trembled slightly, "I don't know where she is!" she insisted.
"But I bet you know how to find her." Jay said.
"I don't-"
"Look." said Jay, "Whatever is going on, you can tell us, I mean come on. This is something to do with me."
Paula didn't deny it.
"I don't-"
Jay whipped out her wand, "I don't want to do this Paula, you've always been like a sister to me- but I'm pretty mad and pretty desperate."
"If you don't think she can then I will." Tom said, drawing his wand, "Trust me, I know a lot more magic than she does in her current state."
"I can't tell you!" Paula said, "Look, if I tell you then…"
"Then what?" Jay demanded.
"Then… They die!" Paula blurted.
"Who?" Tom asked.
Paula shook her head, "They'll know if tell you… Jay, look, I know you don't believe me.. Bu trust me… You'll kill yourself if anything happens to them… Just recover your memory… And I don't know… Run for it. Hide. Ashley is dealing with it…"
"Aha!" Jay said, "You do know where she is…"
"I can't tell you."
Jay nudged Tom, "Use Legimency!" she muttered.
Tom nodded, concentrating on Paula, who immediately went slack… Tom came out of it, looking as pale as a ghost.
"What did you see?" Jay asked, a Paula started to sob, her body shaking as tears poured down her face.
"God… Jay…" Tom muttered, "Your parents… Their alive!"
