Chapter 32 : I need you
| ||Rating: Mature||Chapter Reviews: 7|
Background: Font color:
Louis felt nothing but hatred for his family, as well as Horatio, Steven and Kieron. It was now the fifteenth of August, therefore this was the second day after his birthday and he was still feeling the hangover from hell.
He should have listened to James when he warned Louis to never trust Kieron and alcohol. Although now he knew to never trust the man again, he was a danger to Louis’s health and liver.
Louis had spent most of yesterday lying on the sofa in his front room, sleeping or thinking of how much he didn’t want to throw up. His family had found his pain hilarious and Louis had cursed them all. Freya had spent the day in a foul mood with him, but Louis couldn’t find the energy to sort things out with her. Not only was he hungover but he was exhausted from being up all night with Samantha again. Louis couldn’t understand how she could suddenly, after two weeks of being at home, begin waking up all hours of the night.
“You look like you’re dying.”
Louis looked up at Horatio’s voice and saw that he was leaning on the counter and looking at him.
“So would you if you had the hangover from hell.” Louis tried to stifle the sickly feeling in his stomach.
“Thankfully mines gone.” Horatio stated smugly.
“Don’t rub it in. I feel terrible, not to mention exhausted. I’ve been up with Samantha since three this morning.”
“Ouch,” Horatio winced. “What time did you start work?”
“Seven this morning.”
“Shit. No wonder you look like death warmed up. What time are you finishing?”
“Seven tonight.” Louis mumbled, before sighing. “No, wait, eight tonight.”
“Why have you been working for so long?”Horatio asked curiously, wondering just why his best friend was working such a long day.
“Uncle George had no one else who could come in. Two people called in sick today and Uncle Ron is looking after the Hogsmeade branch so he couldn’t come in and help. So me, being the lovely nephew, I am, offered to stay.”
“I bet you regret that now.”
“A little, although Uncle George said that I can help myself to any sweets I want. I think he’s hoping the sugar will help keep me awake.”
“Is it working?”
“It was. I’m glad that the customer rush is over though, It should be quiet for the rest of the shift. Are you staying until we close?”
“Might as well. I’ve just come from Molly’s house, her mum made me dinner. She’s absolutely crazy. I love it.”
“Aunt Audrey is hilarious.”
“Audrey is the best thing to happen to my brother.” George interrupted as he appeared from the back room and walked over to the two teenagers.
“Has this crazy guy told you that he won’t go home, even though I’ve been telling him that he doesn’t need to cover this shift. I’ll be able to manage.” George asked Horatio as he nodded at Louis.
“He told me that you’re forcing him to stay. He said something about not being allowed any breaks. I think the words ‘Boss from hell’ were mentioned at some point.” Horatio said seriously.
“You’re such a joker, I like you. How are you not as hungover as the lightweight here?” George asked, causing Louis to let out a groan.
“Because, unlike Louis here, I have self control.” Horatio said with a smile, causing Louis to flip two fingers up at him.
“I know that was a joke about me getting Freya pregnant.”Louis growled.
“Don’t worry, Louis, pretty soon today will be nothing more than a distant memory.”
“Oh, how I wish so.”
Horatio looked down at his watch, “Only three more hours to go.”
“Don’t remind me, Horatio. I think that there’s a high chance that I may cry before the end of tonight.”

“Oh man, even the thought of taking off my socks and shoes is taking all of my energy.” Louis turned to look at Freya, who was staring off into space and seemed to be in her own little world.
“Are you okay?” he asked her. Freya turned to look at him and nodded, giving him a smile that didn’t meet her tearful eyes. “Are you sure?”
Freya nodded again.
“Louis, did you want me to bring your dinner out here for you?” Bill asked his son gently, poking his head around the door to the front room to address his son.
“No, that’s okay. I can come out to the kitchen.” Louis stated, getting up from the sofa slowly, he turned to look at Freya before he left, holding out a hand for her to take.
He noticed that she seemed to falter slightly, before taking his hand and walking into the kitchen with him. She dropped his hand when they took a seat at the table and folded her arms across her chest. Louis watched her in worry before turning to the food that was placed in front of him. He rested his left arm on the table and put his head in his hand lazily, as he used his right to pick up the fork and begin eating.
“Louis,” Bill said softly, a hand on his son’s shoulder as he shook him gently. Louis woke up with a start, moving his head out of his hand, he turned to look at his dad, who was smiling. Louis hadn’t even realised that he had fallen asleep, especially so quickly. “You’re falling asleep in your food. Go upstairs and go to bed.”
Louis nodded slowly as he blinked to get the sleep out of his eyes, before turning to look at where Freya was sitting, to find that she wasn’t there.
“Freya went up to bed ten minutes ago.” his father informed him.
Louis nodded again and stood up as he shuffled out of the room. He felt dead to the world, exhaustion was taking over him and his body just seemed to be aching from head to toe.
It took him longer than he cared to admit to actually getting into his room. When he did, he found Freya sitting on the edge of their bed, her head bowed as she looked at her hands, which Louis noticed were shaking.
“What’s...” Louis began.
“I need to leave.” Freya said, interrupting him, her voice seeming to shake as much as her hands were.
“Leave? Leave to go where?” he asked her, not liking the tone of her voice. He wasn’t sure he was hearing her right in his sleep addled state.
“Leave here. I can’t be here anymore.”
Louis felt like his whole world was beginning to crash down around him as his brain began to process her words.
“Please... please don’t leave me,” Louis said, his voice breaking as he reached for her, but she moved out of the way. “Please don’t take Samantha away from me. I don’t know what I would do without either of you.”
Freya shook her head slowly at his words as she watched him walk over to their daughters Moses basket. He seemed to do it absent-mindedly, as though trying to stop her from getting to it.
“I can’t do this. It’s too much. This is all too much.”
He was dreaming, he had to be dreaming this. He was so sleep deprived, he just had to be imagining this. Why else would this be happening?
“I’m just so tired of everything.” She told him. Louis started at her in shock, tears filling his overtired eyes.
“I love you. We can make this work, I’ll do anything. I’ll do more to help you, I’ll stop working. Just please don’t leave me.” Louis began, trying to blink his tears away.
“I’m sorry, I thought I could do this, but I can’t,” Freya said through her own tears as she looked helplessly over at Louis.
“What do you mean you can’t do this?” Louis asked, feeling the blood drain from his face at her words.
“I can’t be here anymore. I can’t do this with us anymore.” Freya stated, standing up from the bed and grabbing for the empty bag that was by her feet and beginning to walk around the room.
“Don’t do this,” Louis hissed quietly, trying not to wake up Samantha.
“No, don’t walk away from us,” Louis demanded following after Freya, who was packing her bag. Louis tried to pull the items away from her which only frustrated Freya.
“I need to Louis,” Freya told him in a quiet voice, the desperation evident in her voice. “I need to go back to Hogwarts. I need some sort of normality in my life.”
“If this is about you going back to Hogwarts, we can sort it out. We’ll work something out so that you’re happy.” Louis stammered, “Just please. Please stop this.”
Freya looked up at Louis, who was holding onto the other side of her bag. She could see that he was struggling to even stand up in his tired state, struggling to make sense of it all. She couldn’t do this to him when he was like this, it wasn’t fair on him.
“Please just sleep on this,” Louis said, he was beyond tired, he hadn’t slept in so long and he just needed to deal with this in the morning. He needed to make her see that she was just freaking out and that he would be there for her. “We’ll talk about this in the morning, I’ll do anything you want just please don’t leave, please.”
Freya gave a sigh as she dropped her side of the bag. “Fine, I’ll stay.”
Louis reached forwards and pulled Freya into a hug. She stiffened before she held onto him, closing her eyes as though relishing this moment.
“Please don’t leave me,” Louis whispered to her, Freya tightened her hold on him, as she felt tears slipping down her face.
“I’m sorry,” she muttered to him. “I think I’m just... I don’t know what I’m thinking. Louis, my head is all over the place.”
“It’s OK,” Louis said, rubbing her back comfortingly, trying to not let the fear of her ever leaving him overcome him. He needed her here. “Whatever it is we can sort it out, I promise.”
“I’m not sure if we can, Louis,” Freya said sadly, pulling away from Louis and taking a seat on the bed. Louis watched her sadly for a moment; he was struggling to keep himself from collapsing on the bed in exhaustion. She looked up at him and took in the tired look on his pale face, the dark circles under his eyes and she felt concerned for him. He had been working so hard. “We can talk about it in the morning. You look like you’re going to collapse from exhaustion.”
“Freya –“ Louis began, the fearful look on his face again.
“It’s fine, Louis, really. I was just freaking out about everything. Just get some sleep and things will be alright in the morning.” She gave him a small smile.
Louis faltered for a minute before he left the room to brush his teeth and get ready for bed. Freya looked around the room sadly, her eyes falling onto the Moses basket that her daughter was lying in. She could hear her stirring. Freya closed her eyes as she wished in her head that Samantha would stay asleep. Her thoughts were answered by Samantha giving a sneeze before carrying on sleeping.
When Louis came back into the room, she opened her eyes and looked up at him, he sat down next to her on the bed and grabbed for her hand gently. Moving forwards to place a kiss on her lips, Freya kissed him back before leaning her forehead against his.
“Please don’t leave me Freya, I need you.” He told her, tears filling his bloodshot eyes again.
Freya moved away and looked up into his eyes, she could see the pleading in them and it was tearing at her heart. “I need you too.”
“Samantha needs you as well.”
“She could do a lot better than me.” Freya admitted sadly. Louis shook his head at her words.
“Don’t think that, you’re doing the best that you can.”
“But it’s not enough, I’m not enough.”
“We’ll help each other,” Louis muttered, his bloodshot eyes closing for a few moments before opening again.
“We could,” Freya told him with a teary smile. Louis gave her a smile back before leaning forward to give her another kiss, it ended too quickly for Freya. Louis lay down on the bed and moved over to his side, before holding out his arm for her to lay down next to him.
“I’ll go to sleep in a minute Louis. I just want to check on Samantha quickly.”
Louis’s eyes were already closed when he gave a small nod. He was asleep within minutes.
Freya stood up and quickly walked over to the door once she heard Louis’s snores, not looking down at Samantha as she passed.
Freya gave a sigh as she walked out of the room and took a deep breath as she felt like she was able to breathe again.
“Are you alright Freya?”
Freya looked up at Dominique, who was looking at her in concern, Kieron was standing behind her. Kieron was spending the night as Victoire was staying at Teddy’s for the night. Freya avoided looking in Kieron’s eyes, he always unnerved Freya and she wasn’t sure why.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” Freya told her, running a hand over her face as she nodded slowly, not believing it herself. “I’m just tired.”
“Well of course you are, you’ve got a newborn.” Dominique gave a laugh; Freya gave a small smile in return. Kieron remained silent; Freya could tell that his eyes were on her, as though searching for something.
“Louis has already fallen asleep; he’s been working so hard lately.” Freya stated, feeling like she needed to keep talking, she felt like Kieron could read her mind and she didn’t like it.
“Not to mention how much he’s been doing with Samantha,” Kieron stated. Freya looked up at him quickly. “You’re lucky that you’ve got someone who is willing to stick by you so much. He’d do anything for you and Samantha.”
“I know, he’s a great guy and he’s been amazing. I just wish that he could get a full night’s sleep for once, well, both of us could do with one.” Freya admitted, she felt exhausted too, she needed to sleep, she felt like she had barely slept in days.
Dominique turned to look at Kieron with an eyebrow raised; Kieron gave a small sigh before nodding slowly. Freya gave a small frown of confusion as she watched the two communicate without actually speaking to each other. Louis had told her they would do quite frequently, not that she had seen it happen before. Dominique turned back to face her and gave another smile.
“Kieron and I will have her in my room for the night, to give you two a break. You look like you could do with a full night’s sleep, it can also give you and Louis some alone time.”
“I couldn’t ask you to do that, it’s not fair on you or Kieron.” Freya stated looking from Dominique to Kieron. Kieron gave a shrug at her.
“It’s not like I have a choice in the matter,” he stated. Dominique gave him a smack on the arm, which caused him to smile.
“You love looking after our niece.” She told him, shaking her head at him. “Plus it’ll give you some practice for when you have your own one day.”
“I don’t have a choice in that either do I?”
“Not if I have my way, no.” Dominique told him, sticking her tongue out at him. Kieron shook his head at her before moving towards the door of Louis’s bedroom so he could get Samantha. Dominique walked into the room first, Freya following behind her before Kieron stepped into the room. Louis was lying on the bed and seemed to be out for the count, his snores filling the room loudly.
“You take the Moses basket and I’ll take the stand.” Dominque told Kieron quietly. Kieron walked over to where it was and picked it up with ease, before holding it carefully.
“The things I do for you.” He muttered to Dominique before looking down at Samantha, Freya could see a ghost of a smile cross his normally blank face.
“Get some sleep Freya, and we’ll see you in the morning.” Dominique told her with a smile and a wink before she walked out of the room with the stand for the Moses basket in her hands. Dominique closed the door behind her. Freya gave another sigh as she looked over at Louis, who was still sleeping. She waited a couple of minutes before she grabbed for her bag again and quietly moved around the room, grabbing for her items.
A/N: This scene I have had planned for quite some time now. It hurt to write it, I didn't want to do it. But it's necessary! Don't hate me :S *gives hugs*
