I know Hermione will be thrilled (and quite smug) when she finds out because I finally gave into my feelings. I have no idea how Harry and Ron will react, which is why I'm so nervous. I don't want to lose my new friends. I'm lucky to have them.
The portrait hole suddenly swings open and Harry, Hermione and Ron enter.
"Hi, guys!" I get up quickly and go over to hug them.
"What are you doing here, Sloane?" Hermione asked. "I thought you would still be with Kale."
"Um, I had a rather big change of plans this break." I said.
"What happened?" Harry asked.
"We'll get into that later, for now, I have something else to tell you." I sighed. "Something very important and I'm not sure how you'll take it."
"What is it?" Ron asked.
"I'm uh...I'm in a relationship with someone." I said.
"Yeah, we know, Kale." Hermione said.
"It's not Kale."
"Then who is it?" She asked. "Who did you spend all of break with?"
"Draco Malfoy." I whispered, looking down.
Harry laughed. "You're joking right?"
"No." I said seriously.
"You've got to be." Ron said, chuckling. "You hate Malfoy. You can't expect us to believe that you're dating him now."
"But I am!" I exclaimed.
Both Harry and Ron exploded with laughter. "Yeah, sure you are." Harry said as they headed up to their dormitory.
"You really are dating him aren't you?" Hermione asked me.
"Yes." I answered.
"Wow, can Kale be any more of an arse?!" Hermione exclaimed after I filled her in on what happened when I got to Kale's house.
"But I don't understand how that led you to being with Malfoy."
I then told her about the events upon returning to Hogwarts. "Blaise caught you in there?" Hermione chuckled. "That's hilarious!"
Finally I told her about Draco asking me to be his girlfriend. "Aww, that's so sweet. Oh, I knew you really liked him!"
"Yes, you were right." I agreed, smiling.
"And tomorrow, everyone else is gonna know you like him too. Are you ready for that?" She asked.
"Yes." I said. "More than ready. I don't care what people think about me dating Draco. It's my life. I just don't want Harry and Ron to hate me."
"They won't hate you." Hermione assured me. "Sure they'll be sulky about it for a few days, but they'll get over it."
"I sure hope so..."
"Sloane what the hell?!" Harry shouted.
"What?!" I shouted back.
"What are you doing?! Why are you kissing him?"
"I told you yesterday, I'm dating him." I said.
"Well I didn't think you were really serious. I thought it was a joke!" He said.
"It wasn't. I tried to tell you, but you wouldn't listen to me."
"How did you get her to date you? Do you have something on her?" Harry asked Draco angrily. "Huh? What do you have on her?! What does he have on you?" He asked me.
"Nothing." I responded. "I like him. I really like him."
"But why?! He's a jerk."
"That's true, but he can change." I said confidently. "I know he can."
"She's right, Potter." Draco said without a hint of anger in his voice. "I can change and I will. No hard feelings right?"
"No! Of course there are hard feelings. There are very hard feelings!" Harry stomped away.
"That went well." Draco said dryly.
"Yeah, sorry about that." I said looking at him. "I knew he would be a bit upset, but I didn't think he'd act like that."
"I can't really blame him." Draco shrugged slightly. "I wasn't exactly being very reasonable when I found out you were dating him before. I guess you just have this weird effect on blokes. You make them go mad." He smirked.
"That doesn't sound like a very good thing." I giggled.
"Oh, it isn't." He grinned. "But it's an impossible thing to stop. You've got a hold over me."
"Funny. I think you may have one over me too." I winked at him ask grabbed his hand and started walking.
"Yes, Draco?" I asked. We were in Charms. Last term I was upset about having Draco as a partner, but now that he was my boyfriend, I was thrilled.
"Am I dreaming?" Draco asked.
"No, you're not." I answered.
"That's weird. Last I checked, you said you'd only date me in my dreams." A grin spread across his face.
"Oh, shut up!" I laughed hitting his arm.
"I liked it better when you hated Draco, Jules." Blaise said. "This cutesy couple stuff is gross."
"You're only saying that because you're lonely, Zabini." Hermione teased.
"I'm not lonely." Blaise said holding his head high. "I've got lots of girlfriends."
"That might actually be worse than being alone!" Hermione said as we all burst out laughing.
Suddenly Ron was at Hermione's side. "What's so funny?" He asked in a paranoid voice.
"Um, nothing Ron. What are you doing over here?" Hermione asked.
"Nothing? You can't be laughing at nothing. Come on tell me."
"It was just a joke, Ron." I insisted.
"About what?" He asked.
"If you must know, Ronald, we were merely teasing Blaise about his love life."
I could tell Hermione was annoyed by the way she said his full name.
"Why are you so interested in his love life? Do you want to be apart of it?" Ron accused.
"Ronald! What is wrong with you? Why would you think that?!"
"Your best friend is dating a Slytherin, maybe you want to date one too so you can go on double dates and stuff like that!"
"Woah, Ron, that is not what's going on." I insisted. "They're just friends."
"I don't want to hear it from you, Slytherin Lover! You hated Malfoy and now you're dating. If these two are already friends, they're even closer to dating."
Hermione's face is frozen in shock. Before she can say anything, Flitwick appears at our legs. "Mr. Weasley, can you please return to your partner?"
Ron turns on his heels and walks away.
"Hermione, I am so sorry." I said. "This is all my fault."
"No it's not." She said. "You can't help who you like and I have no problem with that. It's Ron with the problem. And if he keeps this up, he's gonna have a lot more problems. Like being single."
Draco and I exchanged looks. Blaise just stood there quietly. Although it was very small, I could see a slight smile on his face. Was he happy that Hermione and Ron were fighting? If so, was it because he actually liked Hermione? It was none of my business but I really wanted to know.
"Hey, Blaise, can I talk to you?" I asked after Charms.
"Yeah, sure what's up?" He said curiously.
"Well, I know it's none of my business, but I just have to ask. Do you happen to like Hermione?"
He looked around alarmed as though making sure no one could hear. "What makes you think that?" He asked, panicked.
"Well, you just freaked out when I asked you, and I couldn't help but notice you were smiling after Ron had that weird breakdown." I explained.
"Maybe I just like seeing Weasley lose his shit." Blaise said stubbornly.
"Or maybe you like the thought of them breaking up cause then you might have a chance with Hermione."
"Maybe..." He whispered.
I smiled slightly. "So you do like her?"
He sighed heavily. "Yeah, I do. She was right earlier. Having lots of girlfriends isn't good, but it's the only way I manage to keep myself from pursuing her."
"Am I the first person you've told?" I asked.
"Yes. And you can't tell anyone, including Draco...especially Draco. He'd never understand." Blaise said shaking his head.
"He might. Draco is...different now. He's more open to things than he was before. Maybe you should tell him." I offered.
"No. Not yet. I'm not ready."
"Okay. I won't say a word to anyone." I said, meaning it. I really wanted to to tell Hermione and see if she had even the slightest bit of feelings for him, but I couldn't do that to Blaise.
"Thanks, Sloane." He said smiling slightly.
"No problem." I gave him a half wave before walking off.
"Hey where'd you go?" Draco asked me when I met up with him a few minutes later.
"Bathroom." I said. I didn't like lying, but I had to.
Draco nodded before kissing me. "How is Granger?" He asked.
I sighed. "No idea. She bolted out before I had the chance to talk to her. I'm sure she's pissed."
"Weasley has gone mad. I mean what was all that?! Granger and Blaise." He laughed.
"What's so funny about that?" I asked. "You don't think she's good enough for him because she's Muggle Born?"
"Of course that's not what I think. A few months ago, yeah I thought that, but not now. I just can't imagine them liking each other is all. They're just good friends."
"Yeah, I guess you're right." I agree. "They are kind of opposites."
"Yeah. And anyone can see she's mad for Weasley. He's got nothing to worry about." Draco continued.
"Very true." I agree again. Suddenly I wasn't so excited about knowing that Blaise likes Hermione, I mean she could never like him back, could she?
"What are you thinking about?" Draco's voice broke my thoughts.
I looked at him smiling. "How brilliant it is to be your girlfriend."
"And how brilliant is it being my girlfriend?" He asked.
"Very." I whispered before pressing my lips against his.
"Hey, stop that!" Draco and I broke apart and turned to see Harry.
"What are you doing, Harry?" I asked on exasperation.
"I could ask you the same thing." He retorted.
"It's obvious what I'm doing. I'm kissing my boyfriend, but I haven't a clue what the hell you're doing."
"I'm trying to keep you from making a huge mistake!" Harry exclaimed.
"Which is?" I questioned.
"Falling in love with him."
I sighed. "Harry, it might be a little late for that...I'm kind of already on the process of falling."
"No." Harry whispered. "No." He said louder. "This is just some weird phase you're going through. You're just being nice and giving Malfoy a chance because you know how much he likes you. But you'll get over this, I know you will."
"That's not what this is at all." I protested. "I like Draco."
"Why?" He asked. "Why do you like him? What could you possibly like about him?"
"I like the way he makes me laugh just so he can see me smile. I like the way he says my name like it's the most beautiful thing he's ever heard." I looked over at Draco.
"I like the fact that he never gave up on me, even when I swore up and down that I would never have feelings for him. I like the way he kisses me like it's the last thing he'll ever do. I like-"
"Okay, I get it!" Harry exclaimed. "He's got you under some kind of spell right? Amortentia? Is that it?"
"No, Harry!" I yelled. "Just accept the fact that I like him!"
"I can't!" Harry shouted back.
"Well then maybe we can't be friends anymore." I said.
Harry looked at me stunned. "What's he done to you?" He asked softly before walking away.
I felt a pang in my chest as I watched Harry walk away. Had I really just lost him?
