Chapter 23 is here! Hope you enjoy it...

Hermione sat in the Common Room with a Potions book open on her lap as she continued her revision according to the colour-coded timetable she had created. George had of course told her she was mental for even making a timetable so naturally she had urged him to follow hers too so that she could help him. It hadn’t been going too bad, George had relented and studied with her most the time but he was still a Weasley Twin and so he often went off with Fred to cause some mischief and just a little chaos every now and then. As a result of acts like those and pranks that teachers didn’t seem to appreciate very much George was with his twin in detention.

“Hello Hermione,” Dean smiled taking a seat on the chair beside the sofa she was sat on and pulled out his own potions book and Hermione raised an eyebrow at him. She knew this routine. It happened quite often.

Dean or Seamus or Neville or Ron or Harry would coincidentally take out work on the subject she happened to be studying and act frustrated in attempt to get her to offer help. Why they didn’t just ask was beyond her but it always made her laugh. Fred and George were probably the only ones who never did it. They were a lot more forward and opted for the ‘you are going to help me whether you like it or not’ approach.

The first sigh from Dean came only seconds later and Hermione shook her head. “You okay?”

“Yeah,” he said. “Just a bit confused with Potions.”

“Dean, we’ve been friends for how many years? If you wanted help just bring yourself over here and ask for it,” Hermione told him and rolled her eyes.

Dean seemed only very slightly embarrassed by this but chuckled, “That transparent, huh?”

“Yes,” Hermione laughed.

“Sorry, I forget that you know everything, might as well be Sherlock Holmes,” Dean grinned. He moved beside her and Hermione took out her notes placing them between them so they could both see. “Thanks Hermione. Sorry to interrupt your work.”

“It’s fine,” she said quickly brushing it off and going into a long explanation of the area he was stuck on.

When George walked into the Common Room he smiled at the sight of Hermione who was explaining something to Dean whose face was slowly loosing the look of undiluted confusion as he began to understand whatever it was that she was talking about. Hermione then took to showing Dean something in a book that sat half in her lap and half in Dean’s. That was when the smile started to fall from George’s face. They were sitting far too close for his liking and as they both looked down at the book their heads moved even closer to one another. So perhaps George had been wrong the other day when he thought he had matured and gotten over petty emotions such as jealousy because at that moment he was tempted to punch Dean in his face.

“Alright,” Dean said. “I think I get it now.”

“Good,” Hermione smiled at him.

“Thanks so much for the help, Hermione,” he grinned at her as he began packing up his books and handed her back any books or notes that were hers.

“Don’t mention it,” Hermione said smiling warmly. “I’m glad I could help. If you need anything else you can just let me know.”

“Will do. Thanks again,” he said and turned to leave almost walking straight into George.

“Sorry,” Dean said the smiled realising who it was. “I didn’t even see you, George.”

“Maybe you should open your eyes then. Watch yourself, Dean,” he said gruffly.

“Sorry,” Dean repeated slightly confused by George’s mood as he left. It was uncharacteristic for a Weasley twin to not be friendly and so he was especially cautious as he backed out of the Common Room.

“What was that?” Hermione asked unsurely.

“What was what?” George asked.

“You and Dean,” Hermione said.

“Nothing,” George shrugged. “Just don’t take too kindly to guys trying to take my place.”

“What?” Hermione asked and then almost laughed. “Oh George you’ve got to be kidding me. You’re not jealous, are you?”

The slight blush that dusted George’s face was an obvious give away and Hermione had to really fight back a chuckle. Of course there was no reason to be jealous, Dean had been her friend for however many years and in that time she had never once had a single romantic feeling towards him.

“No,” George said quickly.

“No? So why did you treat Dean like that?” Hermione pointed out.

“Because he was sitting too close to you,” George mumbled and Hermione raised an eyebrow at him.

“That sounds like jealousy to me,” Hermione smirked as she stood in front of him and folded her arms. The look of triumph on her face only furthered George’s self-protecting manner and in that moment he refused to back down.

“I’m not jealous,” George said defensively.

“Oh really?”

“Really.”

“Then what do you call anger that is created when you see your girlfriend supposedly sitting too close to another guy?”

“A completely rational urge to keep other boys away from my girl,” George said.

“Your girl, huh? Possessive much?” Hermione asked.

“Sorry,” he grumbled. “I don’t mean that you belong to me but I do mean that you belong with me.”

“And you think I don’t know that?” Hermione said unfolding her arms and reaching a hand out towards him.

He took it in his own and kissed the back of it softly. “Of course you do. Just as much as I know that I belong with you.”

“So the problem with Dean was what again?” Hermione asked unable to fight the smirk that formed on her lips.

“I already told you that he was sitting too close to you,” George huffed.

“You are jealous, just admit it,” Hermione said.

“Am not,” he continued to argue.

“You are.”

“I’m not.”

“You are.”

“I’m not,” he said again through gritted teeth.

“You are,” she repeated and prodded him in the chest.

Instead of the expected response George gripped the collar of her shirt and tugged her up before crashing his lips down onto hers. Hermione smiled into the kiss and kissed him back with equal passion and intensity.

When they pulled away for the need to breathe he spoke again. “I was jealous,” he told her seriously.

“I know,” she smiled. “But you know that I love you and Dean’s just a friend. I don’t want anyone else.”

“I know,” he sighed and rested his forehead against her own as she stretched up and wrapped her arms around his neck. “I’m sorry. I trust you completely but...”

“It’s okay,” Hermione told him softly. “Jealousy just happens sometimes but just remember that I love you and only you. You’re the only one for me and don’t forget it.” She gave him a gentle kiss on the lips and he grinned down at her.

“Dean isn’t as fun a study partner as me, is he?” George joked and Hermione laughed.

“Don’t ask questions you don’t want to know the answer to,” she teased.

“Hey!” George exclaimed in mock hurt.

“Oh shut up,” she laughed.

“By the way, George,” she said and he watched her, waiting for her to continue. “Jealousy really doesn’t look good on you,” Hermione smirked.

“I wasn’t jealous,” he scowled but grinned and pulled Hermione in for another hug.

Not jealous at all,’ she laughed to herself. George felt the vibration of her laugh against his chest and rolled his eyes.

“Hey,” Fred and Angelina greeted.

“Here come the happy couple,” George grinned.

“We have something for the two of you,” Angelina told them as Fred handed them a cream envelope addressed to George Weasley and Hermione Granger.

Hermione smiled as she took it from him, already deciding what it was. Upon opening it there was a startling ‘Bang’ as a small firework went off in front of them.

The voice of Molly Weasley rang out suddenly, “We are pleased to invite you to the wedding of my son, Fred Weasley...”

“To my daughter, Angelina Johnson,” a woman’s voice who could only be Angelina’s mum continued.

“We hope you will be able to attend the civil ceremony and reception on the 25th of August,” an unknown voice said and they assumed it was Angelina’s father.

“To celebrate this marriage with us at the Weasley residence, the Burrow,” Arthur Weasley added.

“Please reply as to whether you will be attending and we hope to see you soon,” Molly’s warm voice finished.

A small card floated down from where the ashes from the firework should have been. It had a picture of Fred and Angelina waving and smiling with Angelina’s engagement ring on show. It read:

To George Weasley, the Best Man, and Hermione Granger, our beautiful bridesmaid,

We hope you will be at the Burrow on the 25th of August at 12:00pm to celebrate our wedding with us.

Yours truly, Fred Weasley and Angelina Johnson.

“The invitation was beautiful,” Hermione said smiling at them both.

“Damn...did you say the 25th of August? I’m really sorry but we have plans that day,” George said with a faked sense of awkwardness.

“Hilarious,” Fred said sarcastically though he grinned at his twin. “If you didn’t come I would kill you.”

“Firstly, you could never kill me. I’m your twin. Secondly, would I ever miss your wedding?” George asked.

“Never,” Fred grinned and hugged his twin, then Hermione.

“Did we even need an invite?”

“No,” Angelina shrugged. “But we thought you might like one.”

“It was really lovely,” Hermione smiled. “I can’t wait.”

“Neither can we,” Fred said softly and wrapped an arm around Angelina.

“Well, we have to go hand out other people’s invites,” Angelina said and after a quick exchange of ‘goodbyes’ the two left.

“Their invites were amazing. We are going to have to find a way to top that,” George said.

Hermione blushed furiously and gave a nervous laugh, “I didn’t realise we were planning our wedding yet.”

George also felt the heat rush to his face but he laughed it off. “You know what I mean. When it comes around to our time. I’m not saying let’s get married tomorrow or anything.”

Hermione smiled and hugged him, “When it’s our time we’ll find our own way of inviting people.”

Or we could elope,” George suggested and winked at her.

“George,” she scolded but laughed. “We aren’t planning a wedding and we definitely aren’t planning to run away together.”

“Just wait, you’ll change your mind soon enough. George Weasley and his charm has that kind of effect on people,” he smirked at her as he folded his arm over his chest.

“Well George Weasley, you keep planning that and don’t act surprised when I don’t show up to run away with you,” Hermione said and rolled her eyes.

“Fine, I’ll see you under the altar then,” George grinned.

“Okay calm down with that, you,” Hermione smiled. “We’ve got some time before we need to think about that.”

“Of course,” George said faking offense. “Guess I should take back the ring.”

“Oh I’ll keep a ring,” she joked. “But I’m not accepting a proposal yet.”

George shook his head and laughed at her. “Yet? Well, that gives me the impression that you will say yes eventually.”

Hermione blushed, “Well, I guess you will figure that out at some point.”

“I can’t wait,” he smiled and hugged her.
