"Draco..." I whispered weakly. "Draco, over here." I coughed hard and gasped for air, choking on the smoke around me.
A blurry figure came into view and I knew it was him. He ran over to me breathing heavily.
"Skylar, are you okay?" He asked as he lifted me up.
"Draco, it was Ginny." I said in a raspy voice.
"I know, babe, I got her. Let's get you out of here." He said picking me up. He ran though the fire, I could feel it singeing my hair, but I didn't, care, I was going to live. All because of Draco.
Before I know it I'm breathing fresh air and gasping loudly. "Skylar?" Draco asks cautiously. "Are you okay, are you breathing?" When I don't respond he starts freaking out.
"Sky?! Sky?!" He yells, shaking me a little. "Help, somebody, please help!"
Again I can feel myself losing consciousness. Hell, maybe I am going to die. Again I close my eyes and wait.
"I love you, Skylar." Is the last thing I hear before I die.
I open my eyes and squint into the bright light. I look down and see I'm wearing all white.
"Okay, I'm definitely dead now." I say out loud.
"Nope, still not dead." A voice from behind me says. I turn around and see Ron. Something's different about him...he's smiling.
"Wow, how many lives do I have?" I asked jokingly. "I could give Harry a run for his money."
"Sure could." Pansy said appearing. She's also smiling.
"I know who the killer is now." I said.
"We thought you'd figure it out soon enough." Neville said appearing next to Pansy, a smile on his face.
"That chick is crazy."
"Yeah, who knew?" Hermione asked, laughing. They all seemed so happy in death.
"Why are you guys so happy?" I asked. "No offense, but you're dead."
Ron merely laughed. "We're happy because you avenged us, Skylar. You and Draco found out who the killer was. We can die peacefully now, knowing that Ginny didn't get away with what she did."
I smiled. "It was my pleasure avenging you guys."
"Thank you." Pansy said.
"Is this the last time I'm going to see you guys?" I asked.
Neville nodded. "I think so. Nothing is keeping us here anymore. We're free to go. To move on."
"But." Pansy said smirking. "We might not. Maybe we'll stick around and haunt your dreams for a little while longer."
I laughed. "You know, I wouldn't mind that much if you did."
Things were starting to get blurry. "Skylar, it's time to wake up." Hermione said. "Time to let us go. You did good."
I felt tears sting my eyes. "I'm gonna miss you guys." I whispered.
"We'll miss you too." Ron said smiling sadly. "Thank Malfoy for us when you get back."
They started fading away. This time I didn't call for them to come back. Instead I waved...
I opened my eyes, and I knew it was for real this time. I was no longer dreaming. I smiled when I saw Draco dozed off next to me. I sighed happily. It was over. I no longer had to live in fear of being murdered every day. I could walk down the halls feeling safe.
I heard the door open and I looked to see Detective Bennett.
"Ms. Hartley. Nice to see you're awake. I hate to do this, but I'm gonna need your statement before we place Ms. Weasley in Azkaban to await her trial. She won't admit to anything."
Draco stirred in the chair next to my bed. "Skylar." He said hoarsely. "Thank goodness."
At that moment, Harry entered the room. He smiled. "Skylar, I'm so glad you're alright. Had me worried for a moment there."
I smiled back. Through Harry's smile, I could see the pain. The pain of having his girlfriend be the killer and the pain of losing his best friends and the pain of me not liking him back. I could also see Harry wanted answers, and since Ginny wasn't talking, I was the only one who could give them to him.
"Ready Ms. Hartley?" Bennett asked.
"As ready as I'll ever be." I answered.
"So Ginny did all this for Hermione?" Harry asked in disbelief. "Because she loved her?"
"Yep." I answered. "The girl was crazy about Hermione and she hated the way Ron treated her. She just snapped."
"Didn't see that coming." Draco said.
"Yeah, I don't think anyone did." I half laughed.
"I just can't believe it." Harry said shaking his head. "You think you know someone..."
"Don't beat yourself up, Potter." Draco said clapping him on the back. "None of us knew Ginny was bat-shit crazy. She fooled us all."
"Yeah, I guess that's true." Harry sighed. "This is just gonna take awhile to get over is all."
"It'll take awhile for all of us." I said. "But we're gonna get through it together."
"Hey." Draco said kissing me before taking the seat across for me. It's been a few days since I got out of the Hospital Wing. I've spent a lot of time with Draco, so I'm pretty sure we're still together.
"Hey there." I said smiling.
"These last few days have been quite boring without a murderer watching our every move." Draco said.
"I know." I agreed. "I'm not even afraid to walk the halls alone anymore. This is madness."
Draco laughed. "Honestly, I'm glad it's over. It's nice to relax and not worry every second that something bad is gonna happen to me or the girl that I love."
I looked at him for a moment and then cleared my throat. "Oh, the girl you love huh?" I said in what I hoped was my most casual tone. "Do I know her?" I asked.
Draco smirked slightly. "Yes, as a matter of fact, you do. Very well actually. Better than anyone else."
"Hmm. Really? Can you describe her to me?"
"Yeah, she's like average height. Blonde highlights, hell of a dodgeball player, extremely beautiful, looks great naked, she's a total badass."
I giggled. "You know what? I think I do know her. She's lovely."
"She sure is." Draco smiled. There was silence for a few moments.
"Hey, Sky?" He asked.
"I love you."
"I love you too, Draco." I said smiling as I grabbed his hand.
I wasn't sure what the future held for me and Draco. I didn't know how strong our relationship would be without a murderer involved. I didn't know if we would last.
But I was dying to find out.
