The next day was Christmas Eve, Mum was rushing around, trying to get things together for Christmas. Fred and George were doing everything possible to create trouble, Harry and Ginny were surprisingly tolarable, and Natalie was so nice that everyone loved her, just like I knew they would.
It was after dinner and Harry and Ginny were cuddling in front of the fire, a sight that made me want to vomit, Natalie must have noticed this because she offered that we go take a walk.
We slipped on coats, and I grabbed her hand in mine, we slipped into the dark night, giggling quietly. My parents were already asleep and we were supposed to stay inside. Harry and Ginny hadn't said a word as we left, though they were probably just glad for some alone time. Sick.
Snow was falling, "A white Christmas." Natalie said happily as she raised her head to the sky and opened
her mouth to try and catch snowflakes.
I laughed and did the same, but without any luck.
"I'm having so much fun Ron, I can't even remember a Christmas without fighting before this one." She commented, a slightly troubled look crossing over her pretty face.
"I can go beat up Harry if you want." I offered, and really I would if she told me too.
She laughed and shoved me. "no thanks Ron." I slipped and fell into a pile of snow. Natalie burst out
laughing at the sight of me covered in snow.
"oh you think that's funny do you?" I said, scooping up a handful of snow and packing it into a ball.
"No Ron! Don't you dare!" She said, laughing and screaming as she ran away from me.
I chased after her, pelting her with snowballs. We were laughing and yelling, and having a furious
snowball fight. Natalie shoved a handful of snow down my back, and I tackled her, knocking her into a snowdrift.
We lay there, gasping for breath, and trying to control the giggles. Natalie was still laying under me, a
happy smile on her face. She reached up and brushed her lips against mine. It was just a quick kiss, but I kissed her back with a hunger. It was getting pretty intense out there in the snow, and I don't know where it woulda gone, but the tree we were under suddenly dropped it's heavy load of snow right on top of us. We both broke apart, and the spell was broken.
Natalie started laughing and we clambered to our feet, brushing the snow off each other. I stared at
Natalie, and I just realized how lucky I was. I mean, I've spent the whole year griping about how my friends
deserted me and my sister turned into a slut. But out of that whole mess, I got Natalie. And I never thought that
would ever happen to me.
"What are you thinking about?" Natalie asked, noting the change in my mood suddenly.
"I think that I love you." I said quietly. Was this the wrong thing to say? Was it moving too fast? I didn't
know and truthfully I didn't really care.
A smile broke across Natalie's face. "I think I love you too Ron." She said back and then her lips met mine in another kiss.
We were standing there kissing, getting covered in snow, when I heard a voice say. "I guess they had the
same idea that we had Ginny."
Me and Natalie broke apart, and saw Harry and Ginny there, smiling at us through the fallen snow.
"Aww Harry, you just ruined the moment." I said pretending to be cross, but right now I couldn't even be
mad at Harry, the boy who caused me more grief than anything else.
HArry shrugged apologetically. "Sorry, mate, we'll just head this way." He and Ginny turned to walk in the
other direction. I bent down and scooped up a handful of snow, a mischevious and thoroughyl amusing idea running into my head.
"Ron," Natalie said. I knew she thought that I was trying to be mean, but really, I wasn't. I can remember ambushing Harry with snowballs tons of times.
So, ignoring her, I chucked the snowball at the back of Harry's head. He stopped dead and then turned
around slowly on the spot. "What the hell?" He asked.
I just chucked another snowball at him, and then to my amazement I saw a snowball fly by my face and
hit Ginny. It only took Harry a few seconds to start retaliating. We stayed out there for probably close to an hour, screaming and laughing.
Finally we all just laid down in the snow, wet and exhuasted. But I looked over at Harry, and we smiled at
each other. Natalie was making a snowangel.
"Merry Christmas Harry." I said.
"merry Christmas to you too Ron." Harry said back, the light in his eyes shining. And I realized that it was
a merry Christmas after all.
