Chapter 6 : Hufflepuff's Are Strong
| ||Rating: Mature||Chapter Reviews: 2|
Background: Font color:
After a week full of being in the hospital wing, driven near to madness from not being able to do anything but lay in her bed and “rest” as Madam Pomfrey ordered her to do, Freya was finally set free.
The Marauders had spent most of their time making visit to her and entertaining her with stories of pranks they had recently done. Freya enjoyed and appreciated their company but was still left with a feeling of sadness when Remus next turned up on their visits.
Freya was feeling awful because she knew Remus would be suffering with guilt at the uncontrolled bite he had given her that night of the full moon. Freya didn’t want him feeling like this at something that she wasn’t distraught at.
The Marauders had taken notice of her expression when they came through the hospital wing to visit her. Every time James, Sirius and Peter would step through accompanied by Anna and Felix but never Remus, Freya would smile in joy at having people to talk to but her smile would fall for a second when the person she cared about most never showed up, before brightening back up again to hide her disappointment.
Freya had hurriedly sped her way through the corridors, feeling the light breeze against her cheeks. It had gotten quite stuffy in the hospital wing, bed ridden with only the homework Anna and Felix had brought her from classes she had missed.
To hide the fact that she was now a werewolf, the professors were told by Professor Dumbledore to tell questioning students about Freya’s whereabouts, that she was in hospital wing recovering from a nasty Bubotuber bite.
Curtains had been pulled around her bed to hide the bite on her shoulder which students took in due to Professor Slughorn saying that it was leaking a lot of pus which wasn’t a very pleasant sight to see.
Freya had now reached the Gryffindor common room and knocked on the door knowing that someone would let her in. She needed to speak to Remus to ease him from pain.
The door swung open showing a second year boy holding the door open on the other side.
“What do you want?” The boy said in an obnoxious voice.
“Can I come in? I’m here to see Remus.” Freya replied.
“Why should I? Hufflepuffs aren’t allowed in here.” The boy replied, sticking his nose up in the air.
“It’s allowed. Will you let me in, now?” She replied trying to keep her voice polite as not to show her irritation.
“No.” He replied.
“Ugh. Just move. I’ve been in here before.” Freya replied, losing it a little.
The boy was about to reply when Sirius was coming down the stairs from the boys dormitory, spotting Freya and coming over to her.
“Freya you’re out! What are you doing stood there? Come on in!” Sirius said to merrily to her.
Freya stepped over the doorstep whilst shooting the second year a ‘told you so’ look towards him whilst the boy just sulked back to his friends knowing that he had lost the argument.
“Do you know where Remus is? I need to speak to him.” Freya asked Sirus as she looked around the room.
“He’s upstairs, he’s sort of been to himself lately as you can guess why. Go on up.” Sirus said to her and headed off toward James and Peter who were settled on the sofa in front of the fireplace.
Freya made her way up the stairs coming to the door of the Marauders dorm and knocked on the door waiting for a reply.
“Come in.” Said a voice which could only have been Remus.
“Hey.” Freya said to him as she entered the room finding Remus on his bed reading a book.
“Hi.” Remus replied in shock of seeing her.
“I haven’t seen you in a while.” Freya said to him whilst smiling to ease the tension.
“Uh, yeah. I’ve been busy.” Remus replied with a lame excuse.
“Well, I missed you.” Freya said and Remus blushed.
“Look, Remus, I’m not mad at you about what happened. It wasn’t your fault. I would never blame you of that.” Freya said to him.
“Please don’t feel guilty. I’m fine. I know it’s a bit of a bummer but you couldn’t have helped it.” Freya carried on when Remus didn’t reply.
“It is my fault.” Remus said in a quiet voice looking down at his bed.
“No, it isn’t.” Freya replied.
“IT IS, YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND!” Remus shouted across to her which shocked her.
“Remus..” Freya said tentatively.
“I told Dumbledore that this would happen at some point if he let in to Hogwarts. I told him. I told him.” Remus said mostly to himself in anger.
“You should be mad at me.” Remus said to her.
“I’m not. I’m f-“ Freya said but was cut off my Remus.
“DON’T SAY YOU’RE FINE! BE MAD AT ME. HIT ME!” Remus shouted at her urging him to punch him.
“No.” Freya said, worried.
“Just go. Stay away from me before I put you in more danger.” Remus said to her.
“Remus, please don’t say that.” Freya replied.
“GO!” Remus shouted at her whilst pointing at the door.
Freya looked at Remus with tears welling up in her eyes and left the room and Gryffindor common room heading back to her own dormitory to be alone.
The Gryffindor common room had heard Remus raise his voice but most had no idea what they had been conversing about apart from the rest of the Marauders who had been looking at each other with worried glances.
Freya never expected that outcome from Remus. She was expecting him to happily be eased from guilt and that everything would go back to normal.
Remus was not known to shout at anyone. He very rarely got angry. He was someone who would calmly control the situation and resolve everything so it was all good again.
Freya had gone to bed early to hide herself from others as she wept. She hastily wiped her tears away wanting to be strong but was finding it hard due to the overwhelming sensation of having a lump in her throat.
“Freya, are you okay?” Anna said as she stuck her head into their dormitory.
Anna had seen Freya hastily walked through their common room and into their dormitory with her eyes slightly turning red and puffy.
“I’m fine.” Freya replied trying to sound like she was actually fine.
“Are you sure?” Anna asked hoping that Freya would open up.
“Yes. I just want to be alone for a while, if that’s okay?” Freya replied.
“Okay. Just know I’m always here to help.” Anna said before shutting the door and descending down the stairs.
Freya wiped the tear that had run down over her nose. She would stay strong and not give up on Remus even though he said to stay away from him. She would make things right again.
