I am deathly afraid of commitment.
But being in love is exciting and lovely and beautiful. And I would not trade him for the world.
Saturday, October 16th
6 months later, I finally said yes.
And as I stand looking in the mirror about to “give myself away”, about to change my life in the most drastic way possible, my palms don’t sweat and my stomach is at ease. All anxiety has fled. I’ve found it. I know in my heart, I’ve found him.
Lizzie is here, chatting my ear off fixing my dress, curling my hair. Mark is outside laughing with James as they set up the tent at the Potter’s estate. They’re doing it with magic of course, which might be the reason it took so long for me to be okay with the situation.
James and I had to accept that we led very different life-styles. I will never have magic, and our kids might not either. But James taught me how to be okay with magic and I don’t shudder as much anymore. Most of that was attributed to spending time with his family. He has the kindest parents. They are so forgiving and accepting of us, which is something I would have never thought would happen considering they are the most famous wizarding family out there.
We are moving into an apartment close-by next month. James loves his family dearly and I am quite fond of them myself. I would not be able to bare not seeing them so often.
It’s taken a lot of work but we made it work. My mother was absolutely flabbergasted when I told her I was engaged… and to whom. Luckily she’s running late today so I can get ready with my sisters.
Laura is here too. She is sitting on a big chair in my soon-to-be sister-in-law Lily’s room. Lily has truly been the biggest help of all. Slowly and steadily working on my make-up and keeping me level headed. We have become quite close over the past few months. She knew my sister at Hogwarts and they get of quite well too.
“How’s it coming, Ladies?” Ginny asked, poking her head through the door.
She smiled as I stood up and walked toward her, my dress trailing behind me. She took me into her arms and gave me a hard squeeze.
“You look beautiful,” She said looking me over. “I’m so proud of you.”
I guess you could say I’ve spent a great deal of time in this house lately; I feel so connected with the entire family.
This is it. I am completely at ease for the first time in my life. This is it.
“Alright, here we go.” I said. Taking a deep breath, I stepped out the door and began descending down the stairwell.
“James Sirius Potter do you take Lydia Adona Storben to be your lawfully wedded wife?”
“I do.” James said, grinning at me.
“And do you, Lydia, take James Sirius Potter as your lawfully wedded husband?”
A/N: That’s it… Good golly I can hardly believe it…
