“What the bloody hell is he doing up there? I swear, that boy takes longer to get ready than I do!” I said, exasperated.
“Well, we all know that James is secretly a woman, and that you possess no feminine qualities whatsoever, so that’s not too surprising, is it, Jade-O?” Fred Weasley quipped good-naturedly.
“Oh, shove off, Freddie. You two do share some DNA, you know,” I retorted. “Bloody hell. I’m going up there to see what the fuck her is doing.”
“JAMES SIRIUS POTTER IF YOU DON’T GET YOUR LAZY ARSE DOWN HERE IN THE NEXT TWENTY SECONDS, I SWEAR TO MERLIN THAT I’LL— Oh.” I had just walked in on James and some girl. Snogging. In his bed. And I felt… Angry. And hurt. I couldn’t understand why, but I was. Then, it occurred to me that I had been awkwardly standing there for approximately two minutes, with James staring at me with those bloody beautiful eyes, and hot face, and perfect cheekbones, and… What? I wasn’t supposed to notice that my best friend was hot. That was like rule number one. Anyways, I’m rambling, no matter how bloody weird that was.
“Well… James, we’re going to Hogsmeade. Meet us there, yeah? Whenever you’re… Finished,” I muttered, not looking him in the eye. Oh Lord, this was awkward.
“See ya in a bit, Jade!” he called after me.
“So?” Piper asked expectantly as I made my way back to the Common Room.
“He’s… Occupied,” I said quietly.
“What the bloody hell is he doing, making us wait for him?” Emma asked indignantly.
“James has a girl in his room,” I said, feeling that gut-wrenching pain in my stomach again. Why was this bothering me so much?
“Ooh, yeah. I forgot about that,” Dylan Finnigan said.
“Bloody hell, Dyl! You knew he had a girl up there, but you let me go up and be mentally scarred anyway? What kind of friend are you?” I demanded with mock indignance.
“An awful one,” he said, scooping me up, and flipping me over his shoulder.
“LET-ME-DOWN-NOW!!!!” I screeched, pounding on his back with all of my might. Damn Quidditch muscles. He carried me across the Common Room before dumping me on a couch. Piper, Fred, and Nikki all watched on, laughing hysterically. Why the bloody fuck am I friends with them, again?
“Okay, let’s go,” Nikki giggled, leading the way out of the portrait hole.
“Let’s go to my dad’s first!” Freddie exclaimed excitedly. D’aww. He was adorable on Hogsmeade weekends. It was like watching a puppy.
The second we stepped into Weasleys Wizard Wheezes, Freddie and Dylan starting running around like mad, and we eventually lost them in the crowd.
“Why do we always let them come here? Fred can get the merchandise any time he wants from his dad!” Piper exclaimed pessimistically.
“Come on, Pipes! It’s a fun store! And we’re in Hogsmeade! Let’s just enjoy it!” Nikki said cheerfully, with a smile that not even Piper could resist. I loved Nikki. She was always the perfect cure for when Piper was I one of her sour moods.
“So, Jade…” Piper began, throwing me a look.
“So, Piper…” I mimicked.
“Why did you freak out so much when you walked in on James and that girl when you went up to his dormitory?” she asked quickly, sharing a quick look with Nikki.
“I wasn’t freaked out,” I began slowly, “Just grossed out. James is like my brother. I used to take baths with him, for Merlin’s sake!”
“Mhmm…” Piper murmured slyly, sharing another secretive look with Nikki. God, I hated when they did that. But before I could say anything more, Dylan ran up to us, looking slightly terrified.
“Heads up, Freddie just saw Scorpius Malfoy snogging his cousin. I’d run if I were you.”
So Fred finally found out about Rose and Scorpius. It took him long enough.
“YOU BLOODY WELL BETTER STAY AWAY FROM MY COUSIN, MALFOY!” Fred’s voice boomed over the hustle and bustle of the crowded shop.
“Oh, Merlin’s pants,” Piper muttered under her breath.
We watched as Freddie threw hex after hex at Scorpius, who was deflecting them all, but still looking quite terrified. I decided that it was time to intervene.
“FRED ARTHUR WEASLEY,” I shouted, using his middle name for effect. His orange head turned until he saw me, and his brown eyes widened in fear. I tend to have that effect on the Weasley/Potter boys. They said it was because I reminded them so much of their Nana Weasley. Anywho, I’m going off on a tangent.
“Fred, let Scorpius go. He and Rose like each other. Big bloody deal. They’re old enough to snog if they so desire. So put your wand down, and apologize to Scorpius,” I said in my best authorative voice.
“NOW,” I commanded. Dear Merlin, I was good at playing this teacher-y grandmother role. No wonder I had so much control over these boys… Most of the time.
“Sorry, Scorpius,” Fred muttered, looking down on his shoes.
“Good Freddie,” I said, patting his head like a dog that had just performed a good trick.
“So, uhh… You lot ready to head back up to the castle?” Dylan asked, breaking the strange silence that ensued.
“Yeah,” I said, smiling a little bit.
As we walked up to the grounds, I realized that James had never joined us. Probably still too busy sucking Livie-bloody-Johnson’s face off.
Hello all! I'm not really dure how I'm feeling about this story. We haven't seen to much of James yet, but what do you guys think? And yes, I'm aware that Freddie overreacted a little bit, but the Weasley men are notoriously protective over the girls in the family! Well, please review and let me know that you think! Thank you! xxx
