Draco placed a hand on the small of my back, leading me back to my seat beside where he stood. He seemed stunned at what had just went down too. He just stood there shell shocked and shook his head slightly. The judge took his seat and looked over at the empty space where we were missing a person. We were just waiting on Vivian.
The doors opened soon after, with the entire room looking at them. Mick Moss was the first to enter, taking a seat in the small crowd that was here. Next came Vivian, I watched her walk solemnly to her post. She wouldn't look up from her the rounded toes of her expensive red heels. Though before the judge could even call the court to order she spoke. “I lied.” She looked toward her father. He nodded at her to go on. “Everything I said was a lie. I came on to Mr. Malfoy. I wanted him because he was powerful. He has all this power, not to mention he's rich. And he looks like...well that!” She pointed to Draco, though not looking in our direction. Yes he was a good looking man and everyone in the courtroom could agree. She lowered her hand and continued. “I'm so use to just getting everything that I want that it stunned and upset me when I didn't get him. I took it as a challenge.” She sighed and stuttered her next few words. “I-I must of made his life hell. Really I haven't even really though about how he must of felt until now. I was constantly nagging at him and touching him. Trying to get him to leave his girlfriend, who he is obviously in love with beyond repair.” She turned to make eye contact with me. I nodded in her direction. “I was harassing him, not the other way around. My claim was a lie. I got angry because he wouldn't give in. I told him he'd regret not choosing me. Also he's not the father of my baby. We've never had any sexual relations. I'm a liar and I am so so so sorry for wasting all your time and hurting so many people.” Her voice wavered towards the end.
The entire court sat stunned. You could have heard a pin drop. It felt like every movement, every breath was hushed and in slow motion. We all just waited for someone to break this silence.
“What?” The judge finally spoke.
She picked up her head to look him in the eye, putting on a mask of confidence. “You heard me. I lied.”
The judge cleared his throat. “You know that's a felony right, lying under oath?”
“I...I didn't know that actually.” Her faked confidence shattered.
He went on. “Also if Mr. Malfoy wants we could press sexual harassment charges against you.”
“No!” She squealed.
Draco cleared his throat. “No Sir, that won't be necessary. I really believe she has learned her lesson. I think she just needed a cold dose of reality and I think that she has gotten that.”
“I would hope so.” The judge spoke. “Still there will be some punishment for you Ms. Moss. I don't like being made a fool of, which is exactly what you were trying to do. You were trying to work your way around the system and I will not stand for that.”
She deflated but nodded. “I understand and accept that. I made a mistake and now I must pay for it.” I was actually shocked at how mature she was being right now. I had never seen anything other than the whiny brat or the bitch in her.
“At least we see eye to eye.” The judge nodded before he dismissed the court.
Draco turned around excitedly and grabbed my hand, smiling at me. “Told you I had this in the bag. We did it!”
“Yeah okay, ten minutes ago you were losing!” I beamed at him. “And you did it! Not me, I just sat here looking uncomfortable!” I laughed.
“Looking beautiful!” He corrected and I felt the blush creep back on to my face.
We watched everyone clear from the room. Vivian was talking with her father as we were on our way out but she ran over to catch us.
“Listen, I'm sorry. My father is right, I need to make some changes. I'm actually going to move away and just get a fresh start. I have someone else to look out for now.” Her hand fell to her stomach. “There's nothing for me here anyway.” She practically whispered the end part.
“I'm not going to say I forgive you, because I don't. What you did was a horrible horrible thing. You were just oh too willing to ruin someone's life for your personal gain. It would have been one thing if you were just messing with mine but you brought the person who I care the most about into this. That's not okay. I don't forgive you.” Draco said bluntly.
I watched her shoulders slump. “I understand.”
He sighed. “But I do hope that you learn from this and do all that you say you're going to do. Your father is right, you can change any time.”
“He is right and I'm doing it!” She seemed to perk up a fraction.
“Well good luck.” He stated before turning his back on her. She watched us retreat before she turned and walked back to her father.
“Think she'll change?” I whispered to him. I really hoped she would. She wasn't exactly likeable the way she currently was.
He shrugged. “We can only hope.”
Thirty three weeks of pregnancy made everything so much more difficult. Elevators made me sick now for some reason but there was no way I could have taken the stairs up to our home. We had just gotten back from lunch, leaving work early after our boss told us he was closing early for some unknown reason. Obviously he couldn't close the entire building down but I was not going to argue getting the rest of the day off.
A loud crash came from behind the door as we walked up to it. “What was that?” I asked jumping back a bit, my eyes growing wide.
He just stared at the door not looking concerned, more amused than anything. Then he rolled his eyes as he shook his head at the door. “I couldn't tell ya.” He shrugged. He shot me an award winning smile. “I guess we should find out though.”
“What are you up to Malfoy?” I narrowed my eyes as he opened the unusually unlocked door.
He smirked then pressed a soft kiss to my forehead. “I have no idea what you're talking about.” He pushed the door open and lead me to the living room.
As I rounded the corner a large group of people screamed a butchered “Surprise!” The room was filled with balloons, that I just knew were going to end up popped and have me peeing myself, pink streamers, baby decorations, and a whole ton of presents. I looked at the pile and rolled my eyes muttering, “Oh no not more”. This little girl was going to be spoiled beyond compare.
I was laughing as Loren raced over to me. “Do you like it!? It was all my idea.” She seemed rather proud of herself. I hugged her to me as close as I could.
Draco came behind me, wrapping an arm around my shoulder. “Hey! I helped!” He smiled genuinely at the two of us. Loren's intake of breath at that smile was barely noticeable. I had to give her credit she was getting better at being around him. Not that I didn't get the draw, he still took my breath away every day.
“You two are just too perfect! I love you!” I hugged them both. Draco chuckled at me, kissing the top of my head.
“I know.” He gave me a classic Malfoy smirk and winked at me.
Ginny was next to walk up to me. Harry was right beside her with a hand wrapped protectively around her waist. “Hi!” She chirped.
I was actually pretty surprised to see her. “Hello.” I said coolly.
“I know we're not exactly the best of friends, but I do hope for the best for my little niece.” She went to touch my stomach but then recoiled her hand. I wasn't one of those pregnant people who loved having their stomach touched. Only a few select people got to do that. Draco was so happy that he was one of them because he spent a large chunk of his day like that.
“I'm glad you're here then.” I said somewhat stiffly. The stiffness faded as Harry smiled at me.
“Look at how big you are!” He had no reservations about touching my stomach. “I just saw you a week and a half ago! Growing everyday?”
I laughed. “Pretty much!” I looked around at all the other guests. Normally baby showers were just a room full of women, here I had mixed genders. I was really grateful for that because I did have more men as friends. Women were creatures that no one really understood.
The shower was an overall success, with nothing bad happening. Well other then Harry accidentally dropping an entire pan of cupcakes and then tripping and falling into them. This resulting in a pissed off looking Harry dripping with frosting. Which was actually really funny and possibly the highlight of the night. Sophia got way too many presents, which I gave my friends hell for. They really didn't need to go all out like this.
“She's ridiculously spoiled and she's not even here yet!” I groaned and rolled my eyes at them. “We won't have any space left!” They knew I wasn't being ungrateful and was just kidding. Well half kidding, she really did have to much already.
“Well you'll have enough that you won't have to buy anything new for your next baby!” Loren chirped in, smiling.
The look on my face must have told the group exactly what I was thinking because they started laughing. “No way! I'm done with babies, one is plenty!”
“Yeah, they all say that!” Harry smiled at me. “You're going to be a great mum, Hermione. You're gonna want more!”
“Don't count on it, Potter.” I laughed at him.
A lot had changed over these last thirty three weeks. Well other than the obvious parts like the size of me or the fact that I was growing a person in me. Which still scared the hell out of me most time... but in a good way...mostly. I had left the person who was holding me back, the one who made my entire life miserable. I moved on to be with the person who made me happier than anyone or anything else ever could. Draco was the light of my life, I knew I could always count on him. He was my rock. My relationship with the Weasley's changed. I missed most of them dearly but I knew that some things simply must be the way that they are. I figured later in life I could possibly reconnect but right now the wounds were still fresh. I understood that completely. Harry was still a part of my life, which I have come to realize is even more important to me than I had thought. He was my best friend and I needed him there. I was happy now. Even though times have been very challenging lately they still didn't make me as unhappy as I was before. I would face anything ten times over, as long as I had Draco I knew I would be okay.
