"No I refuse to be on that team!" Hailey exclaimed when she hit that realization.
"You should be honour that I picked you, Rogers," Sirius retorted slyly.
"Urgh! Can we just be shirts?" She turned to James in hope that he would feel sympathetic and revoke the dress code. But no he just isn't that kind of person.
"Rules are rules, all judgement is final." James puffed out his chest proving his authority.
"The shirt comes of." Sirius stared at her expectantly.
"I hate you all," Hailey glared at everyguy on the team and relunctantly took her shirt off. Besides all the wolf calls and whistles she got the rest of training was rather boring. Most girls wouldn't have been complaining in Hailey's spot, she got to spend a lot of time with the hotest griffindor boys and the majority of that time there weren't any shirts involved. And though traibibg was rough all their work paid off, Hailey had scored twice as many points as usual, thanks to Sirius not one griffindor got hit by a buldger and James caught the snitch at the perfect moment. And with all that they won their first game against Slitherin. This of course deserved an after party, in the room of requirements with all 6th and 7th years, meaning alcohol was present.
While everyone was partying Hailey sat on the couch in front of the fire place just getting lost in the dancing flames. A soft sob escaped her lips as she thought about how alone she's felt since Jason left for the wonderful world of international quidditch as he called it. She held her second beer and took a gulp, it was already half gone.
Sirius on the other hand stood in the heat of the party, having already hooked up with two girls, he was feeling pretty confident but all he could think was how he wished he had something like James had with Lily.
The party started to die down untill all that was left was James, Lily, Sirius, Remus, Carly and Hailey. Charlotte was off "having fun" with her boyfriend. Remus and Carly started cleaning up while James and Lily left to be alone. Sirius noticed Hailey siting on the couch alone and for once he could almost understand her loneliness. Feeling sympathetic he went to join her on the couch.
She looked up as he sat down, but sort of welcomed him. They'd almost become friends this week and she was in no mood to argue. He was genuinely concerned when he look over at her and asked what was up.
"Just feeling lonely," she replied without letting her eyes leave the fire. "Quitditch just isn't quiditch when Jason isn't captain ." Sirius nodded along. "Not that James isn't a great captain," She added quickly, "It's just that... Well he isn't..."
"You don't have to explain it to me, I understand." Was exactly what Hailey needed someone to say and that's exactly what Sirius said.
Haley gave a bit of a chuckle and looked up at him. "What?" he said confused as to why she was laughing.
"How could you understand? You've never been in a real relationship" she added jokingly though it came out rather bitter.
"That's because those girls are all idiots. They aren't any fun to be with, we just flirt and hook up, but they're no good at being a friend . None of them are fun to talk to and they're terrible at comforting, sometimes I want a little more than just a hook up. And now that see James and Lily I really see what I'm missing out on. D'you know what I mean?" Sirius looked up at her, he'd just revealed something personal and was relieved to see she wasn't laughing at him.
"Ya I do..." she almost whispered in response.
She rested her head on Sirius' shoulder, which fit her head perfectly. He looked at her and for the first time he allowed himself to enjoy how gorgeous she really was. Truthfully he had always wanted a relationship and as much as he didn't want to admit it he wanted it to be with Haley. He looked into her sparkling hazel eyes and with his right hand he stroked her silky brown hair. She curled up into him and closed her eyes.
They stayed like that for a while, until Sirius said, "Jason was a real lucky guy."
"Why do you say that?" Hailey asked looking into Sirius' eyes for the answer.
He looked back into hers and answered just above a whisper, "Because he found a beautiful girl and they fell in love..." he drifted off staring into her eyes. Then they both leaned forward and without realizing it their faces were inches away from one an other. In an attempt to finish his previous sentence Sirius added "All I want is what he had..." He couldn't find the words so he leaned forward and let his lips explain.
She leaned into the kiss and he held her. They were completely alone by that point so they didn't hold back on the kiss. It was passionate almost desperate. They both wanted it so bad, almost needed it. She bit his lip and he let a moan escape his lips. HE wanted her closer, wanted all of her.
When Hailey finally broke away, she looked into his eyes and said, "We should probably go to sleep." He nodded still in a daze. Then she got up and walked back to the griffindor tower. He watched her leave and then took a moment to realize what had just happened. He'd kissed Hailey Rogers. She'd kissed back. And that was all he could think the rest of the night as he had lay awake all night.
After a sleepless night the sun shone through the mauraders room windows. Remus rolled over and woke up, James as usually just continued to snore, Peter woke tried to snore to be like James and Sirius just lay there as he had all night staring at the underside of the top bunk. Remus looked over and noticed Sirius' dais. He jokingly looked up at the bunk and said, "What am I missing?"
Sirius almost jumped at the sound of a voice, something that Remus noticed. "A little jumpy aren't we? What have you done this time Padfoot?"
Sirius did look over still in his trans he asked, "Are you and Carly officially together?"
Remus was surprised by the question but answered never the less, "Not really, but I was thinking about asking her to go with me on the hogsmead trip tomorrow-"
"You should." Sirius interrupted.
"Okay I will then," Remus was confused, this was more of a James thing to say rather than Sirius. "Now will you tell me what's up with you?"
This got Sirius out of his trans and he became the usual Sirius again when he said, "Both my best mates are shaking up with hotties and I don't have a date to hogmead." He ingnored all the denial from Remus about the shaking up comment and he continued, "I think that's what I'll do today, I'll find me something to do tomorrow." He ended with a wink at Remus for the pun he'd made and he walk out the door on a mission.
Once he left the dorm he was on the hunt for the one brunette he had been thinking about all night. He found her sitting by the fire once again except this time she was wearing a pair of aviators, and Sirius made a note to himself that she was probably a bit hungover since she doesn't drink very often. He headed towards her and noticed she was reading an owl. So he sat beside her, trying not to bother her.
Haley noticed him and looked up from her letter. "Hey, you look different," she said.
"Maybe it's 'cuz you're wearing sunglasses," He joked.
"What you don't like them, they were expensive," She faked being insulted.
"Everything you wear looks amazing," He smiled warmly slowly inching closer to her.
Haley smiled and almost blushed, she missed being told she looked nice, it was something she loved to hear. She was lost in her train of thought when Sirius asked, "So about last night, what does that make us?"
"I don't know what you're talking about Sirius?"
"Want me to remind you?" and with that he leaned forward and kissed her again she didn't stop him. Luckily it was early enough that nobody was in the common room, but they still couldn't continue like they had the night before. Sadly they separated both smiling.
"Oh that," Haley answered very casual, "Well I don't think anyone else needs to know about it, it can be our little secret." She gave a flirtatious smile.
"How about this I don't have a date tomorrow and all our friends are going with each other so how about we hang out. And our friends can just think it's because we're deprived of dates."
Haley giggled at the brilliance of the idea and nodded. she got up to leave but before heading back to her dorm she turned around and said, "You better brush up on your acting skills."
The day of the Hogsmead trip came, James and Lily went for a romantic picnic and Remus and Carly went for a scenic walk. Charlotte and her boyfriend found a booth in the back of three broomsticks. And Sirius Black walked in silence with Hailey until their friends were out of sight.
"So where are we off to?" Hailey asked kind of excited to finally get out of the castle, "What does the pranking master mind Sirius Black have planned for today?"
"You say that as if I'm not a pranking master mind," He joked smiling at the compliment, "Well I know a place we can go and be alone..." He left her hanging, he had no idea what she thought they were going to do today and that made him nervous. Not many girls made Sirius Black nervous, but the thought of Hailey not wanting to be alone with him would crush him, he just hadn't realized that that was what made him nervous. Lucky for him, she smiled and told him to lead the way.
They walked in silence for a while not an awkward silence, a peaceful silence. They watch as two love birds flew by and listened to their song. Sirius watched her hair move in the breeze and got a whiff of her shampoo, it was vanilla and one of the best things he had ever smelled. After a while they got to a clearing with a small balcony like ledge on beside a small stream.
"This is really beautiful," Hailey admitted as he lead her to sit down.
"And now that we're alone," Sirius said as he leaned forward. Hailey move away. "What's wrong?" Sirius was really confused now see he'd thought Hailey had wanted to hook up too, but she didn't.
After a moment Hailey finally answered, "It's just... well.... you're the first guy I've kissed since Jason and I broke up and well ... it was a mistake I didn't mean to give you the wrong idea... I guess I was just kind of lonely and slightly drunk." She looked up at Sirius rather embarrassed about this misunderstanding. He was crushed on the inside and she saw it in his eyes, but in the brief moment it came so it left and was replaced with his usual playboy flirty eyes.
"Don't act like you don't want to get with this," He said gesturing to his hot bod. Hailey had a good laugh at this and he laughed along with her, happy to see her smiling again. "Well if you didn't want to kiss then would you like to talk?" This was probably the first time he'd ever offered this to a girl as beautiful as Hailey. She nodded and so that's what they did, talked about everything and anything except one topic Sirius kept trying to avoid.
That is until Hailey finally decided to bring it up, "Do you think I should move on?"
Pretending he had no idea what she meant Sirius asked, "From here? Ya maybe you're right it is almost time to head back to Hogwarts-"
"You know that's not what I meant" She smiled at his attempt to avoid the topic.
He sigh, "Fine you want my opinion I'll give it to you. See the thing is you're here and Wood isn't. He's put there enjoying his life and if you stay here and sulk what good does that do for anyone? You should follow his lead and enjoy living. And I don't mean just throwing yourself into a random guy, but Hailey you're beautiful, athletic and bloody brilliant so I don't see why you can't find yourself a great new guy and-" He was cut off by Hailey's lips crashing against his.
The kiss was sensual, but calm and romantic. She put her hand through his hair and he had one arm draped around her back, holding her close. Nobody was there to break their kiss and heither if them wanted to, so they sat there kissing in total bliss full of passion.
When they finally broke apart Hailey looked into his eyes and said, "I lied before when I said that the other night was a mistake, well I thought it was but now I know," She leaned in and kissed him again.
After a while Sirius realised, "You know I meant what I said when I said it was almost time to head back."
"You're right it's starting to get cold out here," Hailey commented as she shivered in the breeze.
Sirius took off his leather jacket and draped it over Hailey's shoulders. "Here," He said and with that they walked back to Hogwarts in a daze.
Sirius and Hailey were getting together alone more and more often over the next few months, which was not something that went unnoticed by their friends. James and Lily in particular...
"James where's Sirius?" Lily asked one day when she and James were have a study date.
"He said he went to the kitchen..." James sounded a bit skeptical about this so he pulled out the mauraders map whispering "I solemnly swear I am up to no good" He searched for Sirius' name finally finding it underneath a tree outside. "... but he's actually outside with Hailey."
"Those two have been hanging out a lot lately-" Lily had a suspicious look on her face so James had to interrupt her, "Honey I wouldn't worry they've become really good friends. Besides where did she tell you she was?"
"So she's probably outside studying with Sirius and she didn't want to tell you because she knew you'd get all paranoid about it."
"You're right, I shouldn't worry I just don't want her to get her heart broken again"
James gave a bit of a chuckle, "Lilly pad don't worry I've seen the way he looks at her, he's worried about her too even if he doesn't want to admit it. Lily smiled she knew James was right so they kissed and got back on with their studying.
Meanwhile Sirius and Hailey were walking around the grounds together talking, flirting and pretending to study, adding a few kissing into the mix since they were alone. They were having the time of their lives when they saw someone walking towards them and squinted to see who it was and what do you know it was the one person capable of completely destroying their relationship....
He had her pressed up against the wall. She'd only walked in five minutes earlier and things were escalating quickly. She was kissing him like she needed him. He was her salvation. And in that moment he needed her too. His hands were on her thighs, holding her up. Their bodies were pressed together in the apartment's entrance.
He started to move towards his bedroom without breaking the kiss. She caught his drift and didn't slow down. Their kiss depended and as he lay her on his bed she let out a small moan. His shirt fell on the floor and hers followed. He felt the smooth of her skin and kissed down her neck.
He took a moment to just admire her. She really was beautiful. And she'd only gotten more beautiful as the years had gone by. Without his lips on hers, her head started to clear. And with a sudden realisation she said:
"Sirius, we shouldn't be doing this."
He knew she was right, this was wrong. So Sirius got up from on top of her and lied down beside her. She leaned on her side and looked at him funny.
"Why did you stop?" she asked comically, "You never used to listen to me."
"But you're actually right this time-"
"I'm always right." she cut him off with a smug grin.
"Shut up!" she almost yelled as she straddled him and kissed him again. He didn't stop her, he couldn't. The kiss got hotter and hotter, and as she started to kiss down his neck he tried to stop her.
"Hailey what about Jason?" Sirius said between breaths, "Or Oliver?"
"I said shut up." And with that the rest of her clothes feel onto the ground. Sirius couldn't stop himself anymore, she knew he wanted her and was using that to her advantage.
In the morning when Sirius woke up, he felt around the bed for Hailey. But she was gone.
