"Hermione Jean Granger, what took you so long?!" Ginny got up as Hermione entered the common room.
"Well, I had to go check on the decorations, and something else that you do not know of." She grinned, and imagined some drinks for them. She took hold of them and went up to her bedroom.
"Right, so when have do you have to be ready for?" Ginny sat herself on Hermione’s bed.
"About five thirty, so I can introduce everyone for six."
"Okay, that gives us plenty of time, go get in the shower and I’ll wait here. Then get changed into these and I’ll do the same after my shower." Ginny threw some jogging bottoms, a top and cardigan at Hermione.
"Alright, Ill be 20 minutes."
Ginny snorted, "That means thirty, knowing you. Go!" she pushed Hermione into the bathroom.
Ginny made her way back to Hermione’s bed, and sat down. She looked around and took in her surroundings. She had never really looked at the room, only scanning the walls, not really looking at the features. Hermione. It’s so Hermione this room is. Everything is so delicate, like its going to break if I touch it. I wonder if she’s got anything else in here apart from books? Ginny got up from the bed,
"Accio fun things." Nothing came towards her.
Well, it was worth a shot. I wonder… Ginny went over to Hermione’s cupboard and started to rummage around, again finding nothing. She went over to the vanity mirror, and started to wonder how she should do her hair for the ball. She looked in the mirror, but she didn’t see herself as she was. Her hair and make-up were done. She jumped back in surprise. Oh, I think think it changes your appearance for your needs, or inspiration? At least I know how to have my hair now. Maybe Hermione should do the same. Jeez Hermione, how long do you take in the bathroom?
Just as she thought this, Hermione appeared from the bathroom, rubbing her hair dry with her towel.
"Hermione, you’re a witch, dry it with a spell." Ginny smirked, and muttered a self-drying hair spell. "Oh and whilst I'm in the shower look in that mirror and see what hairstyle it gives you, whatever you see is what we’re doing on you tonight." She winked, took her things and went to the bathroom.
Hermione looked in the mirror, and was surprised at what she saw looking back. I know how to create this hairstyle, but how should I do my make-up? As if the mirror read her mind, it showed her, wearing make-up. Well, that’s sorted and I think it will go perfectly with my dress. She waited until Ginny appeared in her room before they started getting ready.
"Well, I think we should get ready one by one, as we still have a while until I have to be in there." Hermione slumped down, sitting on her bed, sipping on her tea.
"That’s true, want to go first? Ginny smiled.
"No, its fine, you can go first." She smiled back, knowing Ginny wouldn’t refuse.
Ginny got up straight away, "Hermione, I know how I want my hair, thanks to that mirror of yours, but I need you to curl it for me, it would be better if you do it."
She pulled up Hermione’s chair, in front of a full length mirror that was in her room and sat down. Hermione summoned her curling irons and began curling Ginny’s fiery hair.
Forty five minutes later, Hermione stepped back and let Ginny do the rest of the work with her hair, then apply her make-up.
"Thanks Mione!" she turned around, pinning in the last hair slide, quickly spraying her hair with hairspray. "Now, it’s your turn. How are you having yours?"
"Well, I need hair rollers, one sec." she ran into the common room, closed her eyes, imagining hair rollers, opened her eyes and saw them there. She grabbed them and ran back into her room to Ginny. "I need these. Put them in for me?"
Ginny nodded and put many hair rollers in Hermione’s bushy hair. Once she was done, Hermione went to the mirror to remind herself of the makeup she had to do, she found the correct make-up, and started to apply it. Ginny watched in admiration, as Hermione knew what she was doing.
Hermione never knows what she is doing with make-up, maybe it’s the mirror, maybe it’s showing her what to do?
After some prodding and dabbing of a variety of brushes on her face, Hermione turned to Ginny.
"What do you think?" Hermione smiled.
"I think you look amazing, just beautiful Hermione!" Ginny got up, and hugged her. Hermione embraced her friend.
"And you Gin, you look amazing." Hermione beamed. "Right, can you un-pin the rollers from my hair? They bloody hurt."
She sat back down and watched as her friend took all of the rollers out, her hair cascaded down her back.
"How long do we have left?" Hermione went over to the clock.
"About an hour and a half." Ginny said.
"Really? Still so long! Shall we get some dinner?"
They walked to the door, when Hermione froze, "Draco!" she shouted through the door.
"Yes?" she heard a faint answer.
"Can you go into your room? I don’t’ want you to see me half done."
Ginny opened the door a crack and saw that Draco was not in the common room and so they made their way in.
"What food do you want?" Hermione asked Ginny.
"Erm I dont know. What about bangers and mash!" Ginny licked her lips.
Hermione laughed. "Alright."
She closed her eyes, imagined two portions of bangers and mash and some pumpkin juice. She opened her eyes and the pair tucked in.
Forty five minutes later, the pair was in their dresses and shoes and they made their way back into the common room, to greet Draco.
Draco stood nervously in the common room. He was wearing a dashing tuxedo with a dark blue bow tie. He held his hands in front of his torso and watched as the door opened. Ginny stepped out first: her hair was pinned on top of her head, it was in a bun, and hoops of curls went in different directions, from one side of the bun, to the other. She had added in some pins that had diamantes on so her hair sparkled when she moved. Her dress was deep red in colour with one sleeve that went down her left arm.
She climbed down the steps and stood next to Draco, waiting for Hermione to enter. Draco shuffled slightly, and looked back up as Hermione made her way into the common room. Her dress was dark blue in colour, with a sweetheart cut off. It clung to her and showed off every curve that Hermione had, ending in a pool of material around her feet. Her hair cascading in a design of 50s style curls. Her lips were painted a deep red, and her eyelids held a line of eyeliner that flicked out, a slight blush on her cheeks.
Draco smiled as Hermione’s eyes glistened at him. He went over to her and took her hand, helping her down the steps.
"You look utterly beautiful Hermione." He kissed her on the cheek, not wanting to spoil her lipstick, she looked down shyly.
"And you look very dashing." Hermione took his arm, and linked her other arm through Ginny’s, and they made their way to the Room of Requirement.
The corridors were deserted as everyone one was off getting ready; the dance wasn’t for another twenty minutes. They quickly arrived at the room; Ginny said her goodbyes as she went out to wait for Harry. Hermione and Draco entered the room.
They looked around and Hermione was finally able to take in the decoration for the first time. Snow was falling from the ceiling just reaching above their heads before it disappeared. The floor was charmed, so whenever anyone took a step it had a rippling effect. At the far end of the room was a stage where the band was ready to play a variety of muggle and wizard songs. The celling was enchanted so you could see the stars and planets. In the middle of the room were round tables (which would eventually be removed to create dance space) bearing centrepieces that intertwined with enchanted stars the danced in the falling snow. The walls were silver and light blue in colour that shimmered when the light from the stars shone on it. Then, in the far corner, was a centrepiece which was made out of many small roses that intertwined together. On the piece, was all of the names of the fallen at the battle of Hogwarts. There was also a piece on the side where students and staff could leave their own messages which would later be read out.
McGonagall made their way over to the two heads,
"Mister Malfoy, Miss Granger, you can wait behind the curtain by the stage as everyone enters the room and sits in their seat. I will announce you and then you can come on stage, and say your speeches." With that, she nodded and took her place by the door, ready to guide students towards their tables.
Hermione turned to Draco, "shall we go behind the curtain then?" she took a deep breath and they went behind the silver curtain.
Hermione turned to Draco, and took his hands in hers. "Draco, I'm nervous. What-what if something happens and they don’t like us." Hermione looked down.
"Hermione, if they don’t like us then that’s their problem, their opinions do not matter, what does matter is us and what we think." He took his hands and placed them on her cheeks.
"Oh, one second," She muttered a charm, so her makeup wouldn’t come off, "carry on" she smiled at him.
Draco moved closer to Hermione’s face, they were little than an inch apart; Draco could feel Hermione’s breath on his face, he closed the gap, and pressed his lips against hers. He quickly pulled back, and looked at her.
"See, I don’t care and you shouldn’t either."
Hermione smiled, and looked down shyly. She then peered out of the curtain and saw the tables filling up. She then breathed in again, and tried to smooth out creases in her dress that weren’t there
"Hermione, you look beautiful, your dress is fine, it has no creases." Draco smiled at her nervousness,
"Gryffindor courage, Hermione, Gryffindor courage."
"Thank you." She took his hand and smiled, ready to go out as they heard McGonagall introduce them,
"I would now like to introduce, your Head Boy and Head Girl."
Draco and Hermione took steps outside of their curtain, hand in hand, and took their places on the stage.
Hermione put her wand to her throat,
"Welcome everyone," she heard whispers, as they were still holding hands, she quickly unwrapped her hand from Draco’s nervously, "to the Christmas ball. Well, it’s not really Christmas anymore, but it’s nice to carry on the Christmas spirit. I just wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone who has attended tonight and to everyone as you returned to Hogwarts. I would also like you to do a minutes silence in memory of the people who lost their lives in the battle, good and bad, because without them, who knows where we would be now."
After a minute of silence passed, she carried on. "Thank you to everyone who has helped create this amazing ball. Thank you to Draco, without whom I wouldn’t have been sane enough to create this. Thank you." She turned to him, and smiled. She saw sadness in his eyes, he almost looked offended.
Draco put his wand to his throat, "Yes, thank you to everyone tonight, let your dinner commence." He nodded, and walked off stage, leaving Hermione behind, who quickly followed.
They both took their seats at their dinner tables and began to eat, only exchanging awkward glances at each other. After the dinner was finished, McGonagall got up on to the stage and put her wand to her throat,
"If the head boy and the head girl would care to take the first dance." She smiled as Draco went over to Hermione, took her hand and led her to the middle of the dance floor.
Hermione’s favourite song started, she looked up at Draco as they started to dance around the dance floor,
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I was nervous, I was stupid." Hermione looked in his eyes, she couldn’t read his expression, it was hard.
'Granger'? Oh, no. He’s hurt, badly. She breathed in, Gryffindor courage Hermione, it doesn’t matter what everyone else thinks, it shouldn’t. As long as you and Draco like each other, that’s all that matters. She squeezed his hand, hoping for a reaction, and got nothing. She looked into his eyes again and crashed her lips into his. Draco didn’t respond straight away; he was startled. He finally responded back and placed his hands on her hips. They could both hear gasps and whispers around him. He quickly stepped back, not wanting to do anything embarrassing in front of the whole school. They both looked around, and saw Harry, Ginny, Neville, Luna, Ron and a grumpy Lavender make their way up and start dancing. Draco looked down at a beaming Hermione and smiled back. No words were needed to be said, so they just resumed dancing.
Songs and many dances later, Hermione made her way down to a bench on the side of room. She watched almost everyone in the room on the dance floor as she slid her shoes off her aching feet. Ginny sat herself down next to her,
"So" Ginny smirked.
"So" Hermione smiled back.
"That was one way to reveal it to everyone, I mean, kissing him. I thought you two were going to do it right there! It was really intimate!" Ginny smirked once more.
"Really? I just gave him a peck..." Hermione looked stunned.
"A peck? Are you kidding me? It was more full blown snog!" They both laughed.
"I really like him Gin, I really do. I mean, Ive never felt like this before."
"Hermione Jean Granger, do not go all mushy on me!" Ginny slapped her friend playfully on the arm.
"I can’t help it! You were like this when you first met Harry! I distinctly remember Ron telling me you couldn’t talk around Harry when you were little." Hermione tried to hold back her laugh.
Ginny pursed her lips, "I couldn’t help it. I was ten and eleven at the time."
"Still, it’s quite funny." Hermione let go off her laugh freely.
"I suppose you’re right. I just feel sorry; he just thought I was just some crazy fan of his. Oh how wrong he was."
"Yes! Turns out he was going to get with you one day, and fall in love with you, possible get married to you, and you may carry his future children! That was already done on your part." They both laughed again.
"Whoa, too far Hermione! Did you ever think when you were younger, that you would ever end up with Draco?" Ginny asked.
"I don’t know. Looking back, I would have said no, but people change. Yes, he was cruel to me for many years, mostly because of his father. I don’t blame him to be honest, it was no-one’s fault apart from Lucius. If you would use a time turner, go back to when I was twelve and point to Draco, and say to me, that man there, that man you are going to end up falling in love with.-"Hermione gasped, and clasped her hands over her mouth.
Ginny squealed, "Hermione, did you just say...?" Ginny trailed off.
"Yes I…I think I did!" Hermione looked up at her friend.
"Do you?" Ginny raised an eye brow.
"I don’t know, II think so, but I'm not going to tell him. Not yet, I don’t think were there." Hermione looked to the other side of the room, to see Draco deep in conversation with Blaise.
"Of course you’re there! Haven’t you seen the way he looks at you? He looks like he would jump in front of the Avada Kedavra curse for you! A stunning spell at least!" Ginny followed Hermione’s gaze and saw Draco.
"You think so Gin?" Hermione turned back to her friend.
"I do, honestly, I do. You should tell him." she gave her an encouraging smile.
"I think I will." She got up, leaving her shoes with Ginny.
She started to make her way over to Draco, who had now spotted her, and started to walk over to her. They met in the middle of the floor.
"Hello Granger." He smirked, he linked his hands through hers.
"Malfoy." She winked, and smiled back, "Draco, I have something I need to tell you."
"What…what is it?" his eyes were full of concern.
"I-" Hermione was cut off by their Headmistress.
"Both of you follow me quickly. Don’t make a scene." The pair followed her out of the room, she lead them back to their dormitory.
Hermione got a quick glance at the time; it was midnight.
"What is it?" Draco sat down next to Hermione, who had just started the fire.
"It’s Lucius, he’s been spotted. We need the remanding Order Of the Phoenix and you Draco, to accompany us as soon as possible, were going to capture him. Tonight."
A/N: HEHEHEHE CLIFFHANGER, DUH DUH DUUUHH.
What do you think of Hermione's confession? She didnt get to tell him! Oh, and there is a hint in this chapter of whats to come, but im not revealing anything if you guess right ;) but i want to hear your guesses on what you think it is!
Right, i have an idea for a new story to do after this one is finished, its called 'The Alternative.' This is the little thing to get people to read it:
One wish makes eveything change. That one wish creates an alternitive reality, in which he-who-must-not-be-named never survived when trying to kill Harry as a young baby, but, one person goes back with her. Together, they go through ups and downs, in the end, having to make the right choice based on what has happened. What will they do? What would you do?''
What do you think? should i do it? i value your opinions so much! <3 Espeically the one's who's stories i have read. I didnt realise till the other day, but my Beta ( MrsHarryPotter) wrote one of my favourite stories on here. I DIDNT EVEN KNOW?! im so dumb :p
Tom still hasnt replied -_____-
