“You’re…what?” Hermione’s eyes shot open and she looked at him quizzically. Draco smirked, “Really Granger, you’re supposed to be smart. Do you need a hearing aid? I said that I’m going to ask you to marry me.” Hermione pulled away from him. “You mean…right now? Because-“
“No not right now, but soon. I’m just telling you so that you can mentally prepare yourself.” He walked back over to the living room to retrieve his coat and his iced tea glass. Hermione was right behind him. “Draco Malfoy I will not marry you just because we are having a baby together.” Draco turned and gently cupped her face in his hands.
“I’m going to ask you to marry me because I love you and I want to spend my life with you. Think about that Hermione.” He gave her a chaste kiss and then walked to the door and opened it. He heard Hermione whisper his name. He turned and she said,
“When you ask…I’m going to say yes. So you better think about that.” Draco nodded and left. Hermione walked to the couch, sat, and started to laugh.
I’m going to marry Draco Malfoy.
That Saturday Hermione arrived at Ginny’s flat for the party only to be stopped at the door by a note:
Party moved to the Burrow.
Frowning slightly Hermione apparated and found herself on the front steps of the Burrow. The sun was going down and so there were lots of mason jars floating around with candles in them. She knocked, heard a lot of whispers and when the door opened she was greeted Ginny. She smiled warmly and took her hand. “I’m glad you’re here.” She led her through the house and to the back door. She stepped out and what she saw left her breathless. All of her friends were lined up each holding a yellow rose and the line of people ended at the willow tree where lights were strung around the branches there in front of the willow Draco was waiting for her. The mason jars with the candles she saw floating in the front were everywhere in the back and a romantic glow filled the air.
Ginny led her to the first person, let go of her hand and went to stand by Draco. Hermione looked up at Mr. Weasley and he smiled at her. He handed her the rose and kissed her on the cheek. She continued down the line of people, accepting roses. By the time she got to Harry and Ron she had almost a dozen roses. Both boys kissed her on the cheek and gave her a hug. She looked over at Ginny, and Ginny took her giant bouquet. Hermione walked over to Draco and he took both her hands in his. He kissed her gently and began to speak.
“Hermione, we’ve come a long way to get here, and I’ve waited a long time to say these words to you. I’ve loved you since the moment you jumped off that cliff in Barbados. I’ve done nothing but love you from then on, even when we were apart.” Hermione’s eyes began to swim with tears of joy.
He continued, “I’ve wanted to ask you to marry me for awhile now, even before I knew about the baby. A long time ago you told me you didn’t expect love, marriage or children from me and now I’m giving you all three of those things. I love you so much that it hurts when I’m not around you. I never stop thinking about you, and I can’t wait to look at our daughter and see every part of you that I love. Hermione I love you so much and want nothing more than to spend the rest of our lives together.” Draco lowered himself down on one knee and pulled out the ring he had made especially for her. Hermione gasped, it was the most beautiful thing she’d ever seen. A large princess cut diamond was engulfed in a halo of emeralds. She began to cry even more.
“Hermione Granger, will you make me the happiest man alive and be my wife?” Hermione’s response was nothing more than a whisper that was carried to him by the wind.
“Yes.” Draco stood and wrapped her in his arms. They kissed while the people around them clapped and cheered.
This was the perfect day.
Later that night Hermione and Draco were lying in Hermione’s bed at the cottage. Draco was lying between Hermione’s legs on his stomach kissing Hermione’s bulging baby belly. In between kisses he was talking to the baby that slept inside and smiling at Hermione. He didn’t think he could be any happier than he was right now. He crawled up the bed and lay next to Hermione, wrapping his arms around her.
The next day at the breakfast table Draco was reading the paper and Hermione was day-dreaming about their wedding. “Draco?” He looked up from his paper. “Yes Angel?” She smiled at his pet name for her. It had been a long time since she heard it. “I want to marry you. Soon.” He smiled at her and put The Daily Prophet down. He reached across the table and grabbed her hand.
“How does next weekend sound?” He asked. A smile grew on her face.
awwww! So freaking sweet. I just love Dramoine. In my head they were together in the books the whole time. I've decided to stray from my original plan of making this into a trilogy. I understand that might upset some people but I feel that if I stretched this out into another installment that it would be boring and pointless and I'd rather just give this story a few extra chapters to finish it off right and the way I want it. Hopefully no one is too upset. Happy reading all and thank you so much for sticking with me through incredible journey I had writing these stories!
