The wood flooring was now covered by a plush light pink rug and felt food on my bare feet. There were two golden chairs in the one corner. A large very expensive looking golden crib with pink bedding on the right wall filled with little stuffed animals and toys.
The entire room was brought together by the ocean sounds playing from a sound maker in a corner of the room. It sounded just like waking up by the beach.
It brought tears to my eyes. Draco walked up to me, hugging me from behind. "Do you like it?" He spoke in a soft hopeful voice. I knew wanted to impress me with it. Mission accomplished!
"I love it!" I turned around in his arms to throw mine around his neck and kissed him.
"I did everything by hand, no magic was involved!" He beamed, looking overly proud of himself. This surprised me, it was a lot of work to do by hand! I looked at everything he did. He must have spent way too long and way too much on all of this.
"Seriously?" I said astonished.
"Yes!" He said excitedly. Then added grudgingly, "even the damn crib and its impossible to understand directions." Which made me laugh.
"You're wonderful, you know that right?" I hugged him tightly.
"Well... yeah" he smirked at me.
I rolled my eyes. " you're all cute and then you ruin it by being so damn cocky!" I winked at him.
He winked back. "You know that you love it!" He chuckled.
"Yeah, yeah" I brushed him off. Pulling away from him to go and inspect the rest of the room.
I found a lot of the stuff that we had brought together previously when he took me baby shopping. We had bought a lot but not nearly everything we needed. But now I don't think we would need anything more until she was two or something. There was not a doubt in my mind that this little baby would never have to want anything in her life. Draco was so eager to please. He was shaping up to be a bit of a softy when it came to this baby... and she wasn't even born yet.
I noticed on one of small tables a book. "The BIG Book of Baby Names?" I read the title that was plastered across the front.
He smiled at me. "We do need to pick out a name, love."
"We will!" I rolled my eyes. "I have four more months!"
"that's not that long. Plus I hate just calling her 'her' or 'baby'. " his smile faded.
"I know, I know." I smiled
"Think we could do that tonight?" He smiled sheepishly.
I sighed "I guess I'll have to agree or else you'll just keep bugging me." I teased.
We continued looking through the nursery and spent the day talking about the baby. It was when we were laying in bed at the end of the exhausting day that I brought up the name topic.
"Err I know how your family always has a constellation name.... Do you want to do that?" I asked awkwardly. Even though this baby wasn't really his I still wasn't sure if he would want that.
"No, no I don't think I would like that." He mumbled
"May I ask why?" I mumbled back.
" You may ask me whatever you want." He smirked at me. " I just don't want her to be like the rest of my family. She's already so much better than any Malfoy I have ever met. I don't want her to even kind of be like them. You know what I mean?"
"Yeah" I nodded. " I understand."
"Which also makes me think of something else...." He trailed off.
"Oh? What may that be?" I questioned.
" I'm guessing you're giving her your last name." He muttered.
" That wasn't a question" I smiled.
"Fair enough. I guess my question is if my assumption is correct?"
"Yes." I sighed and looked away. I knew he would like it better if the baby had his last name. I knew e would love that but I just couldn't do that. Ron and the rest of the Weasleys would throw a fit. I knew they were going to have a cow once they found out I was dating the person they hated the most.
"I was just wondering, I understand why." He kissed me softly before I could explain any further.
I was still awake when I heard him speak again. I had been sure he had been sleeping.
"What about Sophia?" He said suddenly.
I lifted my head up off of his chest. "What?"
"Sophia. It's rather pretty. It means wisdom, Greek I believe." He smiled down at me.
"Sophia... " I said it slowly, playing with it. It sounded nice coming out of my lips. "Sophia." I said again. Then smiled back at him.
"Sophia" he said softly.
" I like Sophia." I smiled again.
He hugged me close. "Did we just decide on a name?"
I cuddled against him. " I believe we just did."
"Harry!" I smiled and rushed toward the table that he was sitting at. It was located in the back corner of the small pub. I was running late but I knew he wouldn't mind. Even though it was unlike me to beats. Draco had kept me busy all morning. That man is insatiable .
"Hermione!" He smiled up at me. He looked down at his watch before smiling and commenting. " what can't be on time without your time turner?"
"You know I don't have that anymore for a good reason!" I smiled remember the chaos it had caused us before... But it had also granted us some good.
He said nothing just smiled a broad smile at me.
"So how have you been?" I laughed. " I feel like I've been out of the loop for too long!"
"Hey! You're the one who made it that way." He teased.
"I know, I know!" I pouted.
We chatted and caught up for a while.
"So... How are you and the baby?" Harry said awkwardly.
"We're fine. It's a girl." I caught myself smiling. I had been attempting a small class of mother like I who felt the same and it was helping. I've become happier with the way my life is going.
"That's awesome! I'm going to have a niece!" He smiled at me, clearly excited.
"We named her Sophia. " I smiled.
"Sophia." He smiled back at me but then his smile faded from his face. "Wait...'we'? "
Oh no. "Uh...." I didn't know what to say. I couldn't tell him about Draco. He would hate me. I didn't want to lose Harry again.
"Are you back with Ron?" Harry glared at me. "He's been in too good of a mood lately. He even told me that he had a date. That was with you wasn't it? I mean it would be nice for you to get back together but you were so unhappy!"
Oh so Ron was dating again. Well that was quick. Not that I could talk seeing as how I'm with Draco but still...
"No. I'm not back with Ron. He must be dating someone else. "
"Oh... I'm sorry I'm sure you didn't want to here that. "
"It's whatever." I forced a smile. "None of my business."
We were quiet for a while. Then Harry broke the silence. "So... Who were you talking about when you said we?"
"Uh...." I stammered.
"Are you seeing someone?" Harry questioned.
"Maybe." I didn't want to tell him but I knew I couldn't lie to him.
"Who is it? Do I know him? Is he treating you well?" The protective Harry was coming out.
"You know him. And yes, he's treating me even better than I deserve." That was the truth, Draco was an angel.
"Who is it?!" Harry questioned again.
"Uh..." I couldn't tell him! But how would I hide that.
"Well hello Harry, Hermione." A deep voice sounded from behind me. Well speak of the devil. That man always knew exactly when NOT to show up.
"Malfoy." Harry's voice went cold.
Draco smiled sarcastically at him before reaching over to an empty table and dragging a chair over to ours. "Mind if I sit?" He spoke sitting down.
" I do mind." Harry said, his voice iced over.
"What about you, beautiful?" Draco smirked at me. " do you mind if I intrude?"
I looked down at the table. Harry was going to flip out.
"She minds. Leave."
Draco looked at me but I wouldn't catch his eye. He sighed and went to stand up. No. I had to sort this out. I grabbed his hand and tugged him back."
"Stay." I looked up at him. He rewarded me with a dazzling smile which I returned. Until I looked across from me to see the shock on Harry's face. "I guess I have to merge my two lives." I sighed.
Harry glared at Draco. "What do you mean Hermione?"
"You asked if I have been seeing someone. And I said that I had and that you know him. I never said you liked him."
There was a moment of silence. "You don't mean...? Him?! You have got to be fucking kidding me Hermione. Why would you chose to be with our biggest enemy?"
"Your biggest enemy, Harry. Draco and I have been friends for a long time. He's someone I could always depend on. I know you don't like him but I do. "
"What is there to like?" He spat at me.
"Everything. You really just don't know him."
" I don't want to!"
"I'm sitting right here..." Draco mumbled.
"Unfortunately you are!" Harry yelled.
"Hey! Listen Harry I don't want to lose you again, I want us to stay friends. You have no idea how badly I want that but...but you have accept that I'm with Draco now. I'm happy with him."
"Why?" Harry's voice had softened slightly.
"Draco...could you get me a water from the bar, please?" I smiled politely at him.
He got my hint and knew I wanted to be able to talk to Harry alone for a minute. "Sure, darling. I'll make sure to take my time." He quickly brushed his lips against my forehead. "Good luck with him." He whispered to me.
I watched him walk away before turning my attention back to Harry. "He's... perfect. He's helped me with so much and I couldn't imagine spending another day without him. He know about everything Ron put me through. He wants to raise this baby with me, he's helping me through this entire pregnancy. He's really a great guy, he's my rock."
He just stared at me for a minute. "You really like him?" His voice sounded pained.
"I'm in love with him." I said bluntly. I truly was.
He looked like he had been shot. "Really?"
He ran his fingers through his hair. "You're happy?"
"The happiest I've ever been" I smiled at him.
He sighed loudly. "I don't like it... I don't like him. But if you're happy I really have no right to tread on that happiness. "
I smiled broadly. "So you're okay with this?"
"I don't love it, but I'm okay with it. "
I leaped up and hugged him tightly. " good! I was so afraid I was going to lose you again!"
Harry hugged me back. " I'll be okay with it, but if he hurts you I WILL use an unforgivable curse on him! "
I laughed and hugged my best friend. I was happy to have him in my life again. For the first time in a long time I was truly happy.
