A lot happened over the summer. The battle, Hogwarts being rebuild, and my whole family being on trial. Well, my father went back to Azkaban, my mother and I were out on house arrest until the trials. My mother and I got cleared and I got to go back to Hogwarts for a proper seventh year.
Hermione Granger. Her big brown eyes and her perfect curvy complexion. I know she loves someone else and she would never go for me, but I love her.
I’m Draco Malfoy and this is the story of how I’m falling in love with Hermione Granger. Yes, THE Hermione Granger.
October 7th, 1999
“May I have everyone’s attention?” Professor McGonagall asked as she stood up from her chair.
The whole student body became silent.
“The staff and I have decided that we will be having a Masquerade Ball the first friday in November. You may not have dates ahead of time and everyone in fourth year and above can come. If you are in third year and below you will be having that day off of classes for the day.”
The Great Hall was once again filled with the chatter of students. I sat in silence eating my dinner. Most of the Slytherin’s didn’t come back. Just most of the first and second years and then about fifteen from third through seventh years.
Hermione Granger was the most beautiful girl in the whole school. In my opinion. She was smart and clever, she had the perfect complexion and the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen.
I wanted to find a way to dance with her at the ball.
I walked over to the Gryffindor table and before I got there Weasley stood up.
“What are YOU doing here? I thought that you were on Voldy’s side? Did you come back just to be a mean, foul ferret to everyone in this school?” Weasley said as he stepped closer to me.
“Ronald Billius Weasley! Would you lay off of him for at least a minute!?!”
“Um, I wanted to come over here and apologize to all of you. I’m sorry for all of the mean things I did to all of you and I wanted to tell you that I was never a supporter of Voldemort to begin with, I was forced by my f-father. I’m sorry that I was ever mean to any of you and if you don’t accept my apology then I respect that.”
I walked back to the Slytherin table, grabbed some chocolate frogs, then made my way down to the dungeons.
I got to my dorm. There are five beds and one seventh year. I’m the only seventh year in my house to come back. There is one sixth year, one fifth year, three fourth years, two third years, four second years, and five first years. I laid down in my bed, pulled the covers over me, then I fell asleep.
I awoke the next morning to the sound of someone coming into the room. It was Gabe, a quiet and shy first year. He was sorted into Slytherin because his older brother who’s in fourth year told him that if he didn’t make Slytherin that he would pay for it.
“It’s 7:15 and breakfast starts in 15 minutes.”
“Thanks. Hey, wait for me. I’ll walk down to breakfast with you.”
“Thanks. I’m going to go sit in the common room.”
“Alright, I’ll be down in a few minutes.”
Gabe left as I pulled clean robes on. I brushed my teeth and brushed my hair. I decided not to do anything with it and just let it go wherever.
I walked to the common room and I saw Gabe sitting in an armchair facing the dorms. As soon as I turned the corner he jumped up, grinning.
“Draco, after classes can you help me study?”
“Sure. How about we study in the library. The rest of the Slytherins probably won’t find us there.”
We walked up to the Great Hall and sat down at the almost empty Slytherin table.
After breakfast I had potions, with the Gryffindors.
I sat at my usual table where I made my potion myself.
When classes were done I met Gabe in the library. We sat at a table in the back and studied until dinner.
“Malfoy?” Hermione asked as she tapped my shoulder.
“Uh, We would like to accept your apology. Though, Ronald is being a git and won’t get over the fact that you have changed.”
“Thank you for accepting my apology.”
The next weeks flew by, we had a Hogsmeade trip. I got a emerald green mask for the ball. I sent an owl to mother asking her to send my dark green robes with the better green bow tie.
It was now November 5th. The day of the ball. Everyone in the school had been talking about it for weeks. Even the first years. Though, Gabe was just excited that he had a day off of classes.
When classes were done I went to my dorm, then I went to dinner. I went back up to my dorm and got ready. Father always made sure that I was ready hours before all of the parties. I had never grown out of it though. So, I took a shower and used my good shampoos that I usually only use for special occasions. I got out, combed my hair, put my robes on and then I put some gel into my hair. I was ready, ready to go try and find Hermione at the ball.
“Looking good Draco!” Gabe complimented as he walked over to my bed and sat down.
“Hi Gabe, did you like your day off of classes?”
“Yeah, we were supposed to have a test in Transfiguration!”
“Well, it isn’t everyday that you get out a test.”
“Have you ever kissed a girl?”
“Uh, no. Why are you asking?”
“Just wondering. Maybe you will get your first tonight.”
“Can I stay in here tonight?”
“Sure. You can take any bed you want. Except mine.”
Thanks Draco. I’m going to go get my stuff while they’re still gone.”
“Ok, I’m going to head down. I’ll see you when I get back. Though you might be sleeping. Oh, no getting into anything while I’m gone alright?”
“Yeah, I might sneak down to the kitchens at about 9 or 10 o’clock.”
“Ok, just don’t get caught.”
“Bye. See you later.”
“Bye, have a great night. Hope you get a kiss.”
I was finally on my way up to the great hall. It was 7:10 when I got there. The ball started at 7 and I didn’t want to be early. There was about every 4th-7th year in the Great Hall.
A girl who looked like Hermione was standing right next to another girl by the drink tables.
I walked over to her. A slow song started to play.
“May I have this dance?” I asked her as her cheeks went red.
“Uh, sure. Why not?”
We walked onto the dance floor and started dancing together.
When the song ended she spoke.
“So, what do you like to do during your free time?”
“Play Quidditch, hang out in my dorm. What do you like to do?”
“Study, hang out with my friends, that kind of stuff.”
Another slow song. Yes!
“Would you like to keep dancing?” I asked her as she leaned against me and started swaying back and forth.
‘I take that as a yes.’ I told myself.
It felt like we were dancing forever. When the song ended I was kind of bummed out.
”So, would you like some drinks?” I asked hoping that it wasn’t too cheesy.
“Sure. I’m in a relationship right now..”
“Oh, well. If you don’t want to hang out with me you don’t have to.”
“Uh, actually. I think I might break up with him. Though, you probably don’t want to hear about my love life.”
“No, it’s actually fine. I don’t mind. The only person I have talked to since school started is a first year and the teachers. Do you want to go out with me sometime? Maybe the Room of Requirement, not that you would want to.”
“Uh, sure. I’d like that. How about next Friday after dinner?”
“That works. I will meet you in the Room of Requirement. Wear your mask though.”
“I don’t think that who we are matters, it’s how we treat each other that matters.”
“Just wear your mask. We can reveal who we are during our date.”
“Alright, let’s dance.”
We walked back onto the dance floor. There were a whole lot of fast songs and then after there were some slow songs. We danced for hours.
There were only about a dozen students in the Great Hall. All they were playing now was slow songs. It was almost midnight. I brought my head in towards hers and kissed her on the lips. We pulled apart after a few seconds.
“Uh, everyone is leaving, I’ll see you next Friday.”
“Yeah, Friday at 6.”
I got back to the Common Room at about 12:30 am. Gabe was sleeping in the bed next to mine with all of the curtains shut except for a little opening that revealed his face. He must have been waiting for me but fell asleep.
I carefully got my pajamas on and slid under the covers and instantly fell asleep.
