Chapter 15 : Fate vs Reality
Rating: MatureChapter Reviews: 2

Background:   Font color:

Draco sat there quietly for a few minutes absorbing what Hermione had just wished for. The expression on his face fell from sympathetic to confusion. Hermione watched closely as his face changed and felt guilty for wishing that now.

“Don’t you think it’s a little soon to be talking about more children?” Draco spoke softly.

“Well, I would like at least one more child Draco. You get to bond with Scoripus over so much and I’d like to have a daughter I can bond with as well,” Hermione explained glancing at her hands.

“In the future, yes, more children would be wonderful. But now?” Draco sighed.

“What’s so wrong with it?” Hermione huffed crossing her arms.

“Are you producing an attitude over this subject?” Draco inquired with an angered tone.

“Yes Draco, I am angry. You neglect to talk to me about change or new obstacles in our life,” Hermione accused.

“Because I don’t feel like we should be taking large risks right now Hermione, it’s not the right time,” Draco explained.

“Why not Draco?” Hermione said raising her voice.

“Are you really arguing with me about this?” Draco hissed throwing his hands on his face.

“Yes, I am!” Hermione shrieked.

“Scoripus was unplanned! When will you get your priorities straight Hermione?” He sighed loudly.

“I’ve got my priorities straight Draco, you need to settle yours,” Hermione snapped after the comment he had made about their son.

Hermione watched as Draco’s jawline tensed and he gritted his teeth. He rose from the bed he was sitting on and clenched his fists together. She watched as we walked into the closet pulled on a pair of jeans, a black t-shirt, and a jean jacket.

“Where are you going?” Hermione demanded.

“Out!” He yelled slamming the door shut.

She watched as he walked out of the door and shut it behind him. She felt her heart begin to drop from her chest to her stomach and she fell to her knees sobbing into her hands. Quickly, she ran her hands roughly through her hair tugging at the ends. A loud scream erupted from her mouth and she lied down on her stomach sobbing into the ground.

She curled her legs up to her chest and hugged them tightly until she let sleep drown over her and felt her eyelids grow heavy over her eyes.

Hermione stirred when she heard the sound of loud noise occurring down the hallway. She lifted her head up from the floor and pressed it back down when the noise disappeared. She felt a pair of hands pick up her body and cradle them against her chest.

“Hermione?” A voice called.

She opened her eyes and glanced up at the face starring at her. She caught a glimpse of Blaise starring into her eyes.

“Blaise?” She asked placing her hand on his cheek.

“Where’s Draco?” He asked walking her into down the corridors and into the meeting room.

She shook her head and began to sob again, “I don’t know.”

“What happened?” Blaise inquired placing her down on the couch.

Hermione just shook her head again and placed her head on Blaise’s chest and sobbed uncontrollably. He brushed his hand through her hair and shushed her sobs.

She tossed her head up when somebody knocked on the door. She scrambled out of Blaise’s lap and ran over to the door opening it quickly. She clenched her jaw when she noticed the figures standing upon the steps.

“What are you doing here?” Hermione screamed slamming the door against the wall.

“Bringing back what belongs to you,” She giggled tossing Draco towards her. His feet stumbled into the foyer knocking into Hermione. His head landed on her chest and a large groan erupted once he clutched his side.

“Draco?” Hermione asked dropping to the floor with him. Blaise rushed over to her side quickly helping to assist Draco.

Hermione stood up, fury overpowering her, “What have you done?” She shrieked charging at her. Genevieve stepped to the right letting Hermione’s head make contact with the wall producing a large crack from her forehead and a small trail of blood to fall.

“You know, ever since you killed Ronald, I’ve been told to take care of his duties. It was just so easy to lure Draco towards me a few hours ago after your argument about more children. Isn’t it obvious he was never ready to be a father?” Hermione covered her ears at the false statements, “Can’t you tell he isn’t a certified husband? He belongs with somebody who is unstable and matches his surroundings. Me.”

“Shut up!” Hermione cried raising her hand. Genevieve clutched her face and glared at Hermione before yelling, “CRUCIO!”

A blood-curdling scream erupted from Hermione’s mouth and she fell to the ground hard again. The pain in her body was unbearable and she was being slid across the floor of the entire foyer, of her own house. Her head hit the small end table holding silver roses and the vase fell shattering everywhere. Hermione covered her face with her hands making sure the glass hadn’t cut her. Blaise charged towards her and was hit with a stunning spell shooting him into the wall. “AHH!” She bit down on her bottom lip cutting it with her teeth while trying to prevent her screams.

She rolled over again and clutched her stomach in pain as a large amount shot from her head to her stomach. A few more seconds of the pain surrounded her and she felt consciousness take over. She began to fight until the light overpowered her and closed her eyes slowly and stopped her breathing. Her moving transformed to a halt while her head fell back down and her hands to her sides.

“NO!” A voice screamed. Genevieve’s wand fell to the ground and Blaise pinned her to the wall by gripping her neck tightly making sure she couldn’t escape his grasp.

Draco stood up quickly and ran to Hermione pressing everywhere seeking a pulse or a sign of heart beat coming from her now chilled body. He gripped her wrist tightly feeling for a pulse and roared after he couldn’t seek one. He placed his hands over her chest and began pressing down hard, again and again and again.

A fourth push made Draco begin to weep and his head fall down slowly. He wiped the tears away from his eyes and pushed a few more times, “Come on! COME ON!” He breathed loudly and began pushing a few more times, “You’re not dead, you’re not dead.”

A small trail of blood escaped from her left upper lip, making Draco loose his breath and gasp for air as he felt her heart from underneath him stop beating. Breaking his in half.

He pressed his forehead against hers and wept large dragon tears which cascaded down his face and onto hers, “Wake up, oh please baby, please. Please come back to me, please!”

“Blaise get rid of her! Call Harry, Ginny, somebody!” Draco pleaded clutching Hermione up tightly to his body.

Blaise dragged Genevieve down to the dungeons and locked her in the smallest cell snapping her wand in half. Quickly, he sent a patronous to immediate family and they appeared by Draco’s side within seconds.

“My daughter!” Catalina shrieked hugging Narcissa tightly.

“Draco, move! I need to tend to her!” Lucius demanded ushering Draco away. He shook his head and placed her back down on the ground still holding her.

Swiftly, Blaise wrapped his arms around Draco’s shoulders and neck and dragged him away while he protested. Draco kicked his legs and sobbed uncontrollably while Blaise dragged him up the stairs. Blaise noticed Draco’s sobs stopped when another faint cry was erupting from a few feet away. He jumped to his feet and ran towards Scoripus’s room and grabbed him from his crib holding him tightly.

“Dad,” Scoripus cried into his shoulder. He hushed him softly and rocked him into his arms while he fell back asleep softly. Draco walked Scoripus back to his bed and down the stairs to find the complete first story empty.

“Mother?” Draco called rubbing his red eyes roughly.

“She’s in here,” Ginny called from the meeting room. He walked in and looked as Ginny watched Narcissa and Catalina sleeping on the couch in front of the fire. Blaise alongside of them wrapped inside his mother’s arms.

“Come sit,” Ginny gestured patting the seat next to her. Draco humbly obliged and placed his elbows on his knees and his face in his hands.

She watched as his shoulders began to shake and the light from the fire reflected the shining water streaks on his cheeks. Quickly, Ginny clutched him tightly and embraced him with a long hug while he wept on her shoulder. She brushed a hand through his hair and felt him sob harder.

“It’s my fault,” Draco said through tears.

“No, it’s not Draco,” Ginny reassured.

“Yes, it is. We were fighting, she wanted more children and I didn’t feel it was time. I got so furious I left, I left her alone!” Draco whispered, “It’s my fault.”

Ginny gripped his face quickly and pulled it to her eye level, “Draco Malfoy, you listen to me now. None of this is your fault. You did nothing for this to happen, none of this started because of you. And when she wakes up, you know what she’ll do?” Draco shook his head, “She’ll run straight towards you, hug you, and kiss you, and tell you she loves you; because she does love you Draco, and nothing will stop that. Not Ron; and not Genevieve. Everything will be fine, just give it time. Do you understand me?”

Hermione kept her eyes closed and listened to the sound of the room. It was full of noise; papers rustling, toys clanging, soft whispers, and glasses clinking onto small tables. Her eyes refused to open but her ears obliged to listen. A soft hand ran through her hair and she felt her soul begin to smile.

“I just want her to wake up.”

“I know darling, just give her time.”

“I can’t wait.”

“BE patient. Patience is the key Draco.”

“Dad,” She listened as small feet stumbled across the floor and a small hand touch her face.

“Can we have a minute?”

She listened closely as all of the feet clicked against the floor and the door closed. She felt a small indention on the floor and assuming Scoripus sat down next to her. He snuggled up against her side and laid his head on her chest.

“Pillo!” Scoripus giggled glancing at Hermione. Draco walked over to the small cabinet in the corner and glanced up and down the cabinet while Scoripus looked back at his mother.

He placed his hand on Hermione’s cheek and she felt it fully. Slowly, she began reaching her hand up and placed it over his. A small smile twitched from the corners of her mouth and it turned to a full tooth grin. Her eyes fluttered open and her green eyes shined brighter than ever before.

“DAD!” Scoripus screamed standing up on the bed Hermione gripping his sides.

Draco turned around slowly with his eyes closed, and his fingers on the bridge of his nose,” Wha-,” before Draco could finished he realized what Scoripus was screaming about and stood frozen in shock starring at his beautiful soul mate sitting upright in their large bed  with a large grin strewn across her face.

“Hermione?” Draco whispered. She slowly placed Scoripus to her side and tossed the covers from her legs. Her long curly hair fell to her stomach and her white silk night gown fell to her feet freely as she walked towards Draco. Smiling widely she placed her hands on either side of his face and slowly wrapped her arms around his neck. A small intake of hair appeared by her ear making her giggle slightly on Draco’s shoulder. His grip around her waist tightened and pulled her closer to him.

“I’ve missed your laugh,” Draco said pulling his head from her shoulder and placing his forehead on hers.

“And I’ve missed you,” Hermione sighed nuzzling his nose with hers. After she stopped she quickly glanced at Scoripus and then back at Draco. Her eyes shot to realization when she remembered why she had been found in her bed and not in the living room.

She quickly kissed Draco and ran to the closet pulling the silk robe from her shoulders and watched as it cascaded towards the floor. She stood there in her knickers skimming through the closet for a dress. She grabbed a lacey cap sleeved cream colored dress with a small black rope belt tightening underneath her breasts. The remainder of the dress flowed freely down to her knees. She pulled her black peep toe stilettos. She ran a hand through her perfectly curly hair and walked back towards her family.

“I want to go to dinner with my family. Will you please get ready and I’ll inform the others,” Hermione pleaded.

“Mione, you’ve just woken up,” Draco began but silenced himself when Hermione picked up Scoripus and kissed Draco tenderly on his lips. Her plea filled kiss was enough to persuade him to get ready.

She placed Scoripus back down and began walking down the hall checking every room for her family. Ginny and Harry were in the fifth room and she quickly opened it hugging Ginny tightly. After a few moments of silent sobs and talking Hermione informed Ginny and Harry of the dinner she had wanted and they hurriedly dressed themselves. She found Narcissa, Lucius, and Catalina in the kitchen conversing over coffee and mimicked her actions from Harry and Ginny with the three parents.

Slowly, after finishing her discussions she began to walk towards the west wing and stopped at the large wooden door leading to the dungeons. She pulled the large circular black metal handle and the door opened with an eerie creek. She propped the door open a large rock making sure she wouldn’t have to put forth more effort into opening it. Her heels clicked on the large cement spiral stairs of the dungeon and a cold air rushed through the large bared windows from the tower. Hermione wrapped her arms tightly around herself and rubbed profusely preventing from being cold and creating friction with the heat.

“Hello?” She called loudly using her hands for emphasis.

“Hello,” A large familiar voice called out.

“Blaise?” She asked beginning to run towards the voice coming from the large stone corridors. The distance felt like miles. But suddenly, Blaise’s figure came into sight and she felt her body rush into his large embrace once her feet led her to him.

“Are you okay? When did you wake up? How are you feeling? Should I let you go? Are you dizzy at all? Tell me Hermione,” Blaise pleaded.

“First, let’s slowly down with the questions. Second I’m fine, a few moments ago I woke up, and no you shouldn’t I’ve missed my big brother’s hugs,” She reassured nuzzling his chest with her face inhaling his warm protective sent.

“Where is she?” Hermione asked after a few moments.

Blaise glanced at his sister and shook his head telling her “no” with his eyes. She shook her head rapidly and brushed past him to turn around the corner. Blaise rapidly chased after her and watched as she stopped in front of the holding cell she was in and glared at the sleeping figure on the small stone bed.

She shook her head again and walked back to Blaise grabbing his hand and taking him with her. He didn’t say a word as she dragged him up the large stairs and toward the group of people waiting in the foyer. Her eyes quickly glanced at Draco and a warm smile was planted on her face.

He had chosen a pair of black trousers and a charcoal colored button down shirt he for once had tucked into his pants with a black leather belt and black shoes. Although, his sleeves were rolled up to his elbows and he was wearing no tie.

Hermione quickly walked over to him and wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him lightly for what felt like forever. She pulled her forehead to his and laughed, “Shall we go?”

Draco gripped her arm tightly in his and glanced at her, “Before we go anywhere I want to know what the hell is wrong with you? Your mood has changed.”

“I’ll talk to you about this later; right now isn’t the right time to talk about this,” Hermione explained clutching Scoripus’s hand in hers.
