Whatever you recognize, I do not own. Alas.

“Exhibit A, exhibit B and exhibit C”, declares a fuming Alice Longbottom as she slaps down three pictures on my bed. I look up from my (might I add, very interesting) book, to survey what seems to be three pictures of her boyfriend with three different girls.
“So?” I asked her cautiously, for as long as I have known Alice, which is pretty much all my life, she has been insecure, doubtful and vulnerable.
“Can’t you see this, Rose? Look at him. Studying charms
with Penelope, he says. Helping Lara with her homework
, he says. Playing ‘quidditch’
with Hannah, he says. It’s clear what he’s trying to do.”
I roll my eyes. This is typical Alice behavior. Unfortunately, she doesn’t seem to realize that it is this behavior that has resulted in her being dumped more times than I can count.
“Listen to me for a second. Brian is a great guy. He wouldn’t cheat on you or blow you off for someone else. You just need to trust him”, I tell her, pulling my book in front of my face as if to say that this conversation is over. I have had this talk with her more times than I can remember.
She is just about to protest, when Patricia Simons walks in. I love Pat to bits, but she is quite unlike Alice, who seems to be tactful enough to hide the pictures the minute she walks in. I’m sure that Pat would have incarcerated them if she had seen them.
While Alice is sometimes the kind of girl who would follow her boyfriend like a lost puppy, Pat would make sure that they guy was following her. And if he didn't Pat didn't care. She would find someone new and move on.
“So, my girls. Have you heard? Who’s the latest man to join the single’s part-ay?” Pat asks loudly.
I roll my eyes and get back to my book, because if I leave it up to my brilliant friends, they could discuss boys and their love lives all night. I, for one, have better things to do in life.
But I can’t tune out what’s coming next.
“Take a guess, Alice.”
“Gimme a clue.”
“He’s tall, blond and rich.”
“Then maybe you should be telling Rose, not me” sniggers Alice.
Great. Just bloody grrreat.
"Perfect." I mutter
Scorpius Malfoy. The one person I’ve been trying to avoid since I set foot in Hogwarts. It is rather hard though, when he is your best friend/cousin’s best friend. Yes, the sorting hat put me in Gryffindor. And it put Albus Potter in Slytherin. He sulked for a good five minutes. I thought he might even cry. However, it was Malfoy who turned Al’s frown upside down.
If you ask me, those two have some serious bromance going on.
“So Rose? I hear you’re interested”, Says Pat, hopping down on my bed next to me. “Tell us. How long before… Well, you know?”
”, I say, through gritted teeth.
“Let’s bet on this shall we?”
“Oh Alice. Do I need to remind you that I have never lost a bet in my sixteen years of life? Not one.”
“Well, Rose. There are first times. And you’ve had a few with Mr Malfoy, I hear.”
“Well, sorry to say you have been gravely misinformed. Now, if you will let me, I have more important things to do in life. Good night.”
“We’ll discuss this in the morning,” sings Alice in a high pitched voice.
With that, I shut my curtains around my four poster bed. First times, with Malfoy… First times that my friends will never let me forget. Sixth year is going to be one hell of a ride. Woohoo!
Here we are, back to square one. I liked it better when he was dating that slut.
Oh well, the universe hates me.
What a bummer.
The first author's note of the first chapter of my first story.
I know its a little short. But the next chapters are longer :)
It would be oh-so-great if you all could drop in a review. I would love that so much :)
So please don't hesitate to be honest. Tell me what's cool and what's not and I promise I will listen to all of your opinions.
Reviews make chapter 2 come out faster. Just saying :p
So read, review and spread the word.
