“You!” The man raised his head and pointed at Harry. “You said, you said I could go and then I'm trapped here!” He was shouting, his hands waving around but Harry ignored him and turned to Danny.
“He found Hermione, weather he had any other involvement remains to be seen,” Harry explained so that Danny knew why the man was here. “Take him to my office, I'll be there in a minute,”
“Yes boss,” he motioned for the figure to follow him but then thought better and tied his hands together. Leaving Harry in the room, there footsteps echoed along the corridor before fading off. Pulling out his wand he used his patronus to send a message to Ginny asking how Hermione was. Thankfully he didn't have to wait long for a reply as Ginny's patronus came cantering into view.
“Harry, Hermione's sleeping but the healer said she might be allowed home at the end of the week but they'll still have to keep an eye on her. She, she lost the baby. Both of them are pretty upset, I haven't seen Ron since he found out and then left because he said he was going to let everyone else know. Hermione isn't taking her potions though, I tried and the healer tried but she wont take them. Just try to catch whoever did this.”
Frowning he watched the horse disappear before turning out of the room, he would head over to the hospital once he knew who this person was and how they were involved. His secretary was sat outside and when he saw Harry he jumped up.
“Sir, there is people in your office. They said you wanted them in,” Charlie started before Harry put his hand up to stop him.
“Yes, I did and would you please make sure we aren't interrupted.” Charlie nodded while Harry walked in and saw Danny standing behind a chair which held the man, his head bent. Upon hearing the door open he leapt up and made towards Harry but he hadn't got far when Danny shoved him roughly back into the chair.
“I thought you weren't going to move?” Danny told him but the man only laughed.
“He said I could go, shame nobody means what they say anymore isn't it?” He sneered before staring at Harry, his cold eyes unblinking. The phrase 'if looks could kill' jumped through Harry's mind.
“I want to know how and why you had Miss Granger, if you are innocent you can prove it. If not, well lets just say you'll be sorry,” Harry told him before folding his arms across his chest. “I'm waiting.”
“Don't hold your breath, actually, when I think about it, please do!” He shot back, the words coming out of his mouth like venom.
“You tell me right now or else,” Harry threatened, walking forward towards the man. “Why don't we start easy and you can tell me your name?” Harry told him, only inches away.
“Go.To.Hell.” The man spat at Harry who then proceeded to pull out his wand and pointed it at the man's neck.
“You tell me something, everything and you'll go free unless it was you who did this,” Harry warned as a bead of sweat ran down the man's face and his lip trembled slightly.
“No, no you can't, you're not, not aloud. You'll be forced to leave the ministry, a laughing stock,” he panted, his eyes widening in terror.
“This has nothing to do with the ministry, I've yet to inform them of this so how about you start talking?” Harry half whispered and the man wriggled down his chair, trying to escape.
“They'll know, magic, magic leaves a mark because you, you can't kill me, if you do you'll never know,” his eyes locked on Harry's and to the man's surprise Harry laughed.
“You think I'm going to hurt you? No, no I'm not that stupid you see; what I'm actually going to do is use this little bottle,” he grabbed an opaque, thin bottle from his desk and held it in front of the man's face. “Do you know what this is? I'll tell you, it's a little potion called veritaserum,” recognition flooded the man's face and another bead of sweat fell down his face.
“Please, don't, I'll, I'll tell you everything, please,” he pleaded and Harry took a small step back.
“Ok, well I suggest you start talking. Start with who you are?” Harry told him, his wand still pointed at the man.
“My name, my name isn't important,” he started but Harry moved the bottle closer and he relented. “James, James Mcgruff and yes, I am related to Shane before you ask,” he mumbled and Harry lowered the bottle, it looked like he had finally cracked. “I never wanted to hurt her, it was my cousin, Shane. I promise I never wanted to hurt the girl but he went to far, we were only supposed to go for the money and Shane did most of the work because he knew you and so he knew Hermione and he said it would be easy. She was only supposed to be in a room, not being almost tortured and I swear I never knew she was expecting. I would have got her out of there faster, you have to believe me,” he pleaded and to his surprise, Harry found he did.
“Why did you bring her to the ministry?” Harry asked, his expression unreadable as the man watched him.
“I, I saw the blood and I didn't want to just leave her, I couldn't do it. I've been trying to sneak her food, I tried to look after her. I'm not evil, ask her, she'll tell you and then you can let me go. I never wanted to hurt her, really I never.” Harry nodded and James breathed a sigh of relief before going to stand but Danny's hand kept him down.
“Where do you think you're going?” He asked and James just stared at him, not sure what to do. “Sit back down, we still have more questions for you,” he warned him before pushing him down. “First, we want to know where Shane is?” Before James could open his mouth the door opened and a voiced carried into the room.
“Turn around why don't you?”
