I looked at the large stack of paper work that was on my desk that I had just finished. I was even done over two hours earlier than I had planned, which I was really happy about. This meant I could go surprise Hermione and take her out to lunch. I had been in a wonderful mood since I woke up next to her this morning. I was happy to have finally resolved everything. Finally I had her.
“Why are you so happy?” Vivian basically spat at me. She had come into work late and that may have helped me get all this work done so fast, well along with my good mood. She was wearing a too tight to be work appropriate maroon dress. She hadn't come onto me since I shot her down but she was definitely taking that out on me. She had me working non stop. She was also pretty angry at me all the time, acting like I've done something wrong. There were times that I wished I had never taken this job, actually it was most of the time.
“Just in a really good mood.” I smiled at her broadly, showing her that I would not let her bring me down. I was finally happy, dammit.
“Whatever.” She snapped. “Just stop that dreadful humming you keep doing. I can hear it when I walk by. It's annoying and I'm sure it's keeping you from doing the work you are slacking on.” She rolled her eyes.
I smirked back at her. “Well actually....” I started but then waiting until she gave me her full attention, “ I already finished all of the work I had to do. Every single file and paper is done.”
“Oh.” She replied bitterly.
I continued on. “I was going to take off early since there was nothing left to do.”
She started laughing before turning serious. “No.”
I glared at her. “Yes.” I stated back just as bluntly as she had been.
“You can't just leave. This is a job that you get paid by the hour, not the task.” She bitched at me.
I rolled my eyes. “Do you think I need the money?” I laughed. “I don't care if you pay me or not. I have plans to take an extra long lunch and I have full intentions of following through with those plans. So I'm going.”
“You can't come in here and just throw your money around here and get whatever you want. I'm not one of those poor fools that allow you to. That is not going to fly around here.” She spoke in a hissy voice.
She stared me down for a solid five minutes. “Fine.” She snapped again. “But you'll be paying for it.” With that she stormed out of my office, slamming the heavy door behind her. I smirked at that door, I loved winning.
But what I loved even more was that now I would have the chance to go take Hermione out. I kept on my “annoying” humming as I packed up my things and left to go get her. On my way out I noticed Vivian glaring at me, but I just didn’t care. Oh well.
I headed over to pick up Hermione, planning on taking her to this small cafe we had been fans of when we had lunch together those countless times.
“Oh hello there Mr. Malfoy!” Mark, one of the security workers that worked the main entrance, called when he saw me walk in. He was a genuinely nice guy, we had been decently good friends, he had worked here in security for as long as I could remember yet he was only a few years older than me. Even though I was a man who could handle my own I still wouldn't want to face him on one of his bad days. I was pretty sure he could take out a dragon, muggle style. And he was quick as a whip with his wand. All the security here had to go throw harsh training, which although it was never needed, I liked because it meant she was safe.
I went to explain what my purpose was there but he stopped me. “Ah Draco, I trust that you don't bring any harm here. Go right on up.” He said as he unlocked the door with a spell that had always reminded me of Dumbledore's office. There the password changed every so often, here the spell and password used changed every hour.
“Actually I was wondering if Hermione was in?” I paused.
He thought for a second. “I'm not sure, I'll call her.” He pressed her line and waited as it rang. She must have been there because the call was answered. “Miss Granger, you have a visitor. Shall I let him up?” Mark said with a smile.
I heard her quiet voice on the other end. “Uh...sure.” She seemed confused by who would be visiting her. I heard the slight worry in her voice that it was something that she hadn't prepared for. This of course was nearly impossible, she was always so on top of things. Well, I suppose there was one thing she wasn't on top of that I wish she was.
Mark spoke again. “Alright, he'll be right on up. Good day Ms. Granger. “ He hung up the phone. “You can just go up, I think she's worried this is work related, which I’m guessing it's not.” He winked at me.
I just laughed in response. “Thank you, Mark.” I got on the elevator and waited as it moved its way to her floor. Once it did I was almost instantly greeted by Lauren.
“Hi! You must be here to see Hermione?” She questioned. I knew she loved gossip, yet I also knew she was strongly loyal to Hermione.
“That I am.“ I winked at her, seeing her bubble with excitement when I did. I really did love to mess with her. She had the dumbest little crush on me. But she knew that I was Hermione's, I was sure.
I walked on and knocked on Hermione's door. I heard her jump up and rush to the door. A look of surprise covered her face when she answered it and saw it was me. “Hello love” I smiled at her.
“Draco!” She beamed, calling my name in the same type of happy voice I had. She was happy to see me, I loved that.
I walked in and closed the door behind me before I pulled her to me and kissed her fiercely. I loved being able to do that.
“What are you doing here?” She smiled after.
“Taking you to lunch, let's go.” I smirked at her.
She jumped at the idea. “Okay!” She was just a little ball of enthusiasm. I was guessing she was in as good of a mood as I had been all morning.
Lunch with Draco had been wonderful. It was so nice to be like this again. I loved it.
“Hello! Are you ready for your check?” The redheaded waitress spoke directly to him and ignoring me, like she had the entire time. She looked like she was around 18, way too young for him. What was she thinking?
The waitress was overwhelmed by him. I mean I understood why she would be, I felt it too, but that doesn't mean it was okay for her to be coming on to him like she had been all through lunch. I shot her a look to tell her to back off. I think Draco saw that look because I caught him smirking.
The waitress smiled wickedly. “So handsome, is this your sister?” She glared at me quickly but then turned her eyes back to Draco.
“No.” I stated bluntly. She glared at me again.
Draco grabbed my hand across the table and held on tightly. He then gave me an evil smirk, his signature smirk, before speaking at her but never having his eyes leave mine. “Trust me, I wouldn't do the things I do to her to my sister.”
“What?” The girl snapped.
“You heard me.” He winked at me, which caused a wave of warmth the creep up over my cheeks and the bridge of my nose.
The waitress puffed up and let out a short agitated breath. “Have a nice day.” She mumbled, she didn't want us to have a good day, it was very very clear. She looked like she was plotting our very death right now. She had thrown the check book at us, which Draco caught easily. He just shrugged her off.
“You're blushing.” Draco winked at me again as the waitress retreated quickly.
“No I'm not.” I denied it but the lights of the little cafe gave it away easily.
He pulled his hand out of mine. “Yes, you are. Right here...” he lightly brushed his fingers over my cheek, “and right here” he ran a single finger delicately down my nose. The blush got worse as his finger hit the skin there. He smiled at me as he watched it grow. We were quiet for a beat before he talked again. “Are you ready to go, I don't want you to be late back to work because of me.”
He was so considerate, I hadn't even thought about going back to work. “I suppose I have to, now don't I?”
“Yes, darling you do.” He pulled out his wallet and paid the check that the waitress had oh so rudely thrown at us. I saw him leave some loose money on the table, which gave me an idea.
“Oh! I have a tip for her” I smiled evilly. I stole the check from him and flipped it over, I took the pen out of the little booklet that it came in and wrote on the back of the check, tucking it under the money left on the table where I was sure she'd have to see it.
Draco gave me a questioning look. “What did you write?” He seemed amused and worried at the same time.
“Oh nothing.” I mumbled. He rolled his eyes and grabbed it anyway, reading it.
“Here's a tip: don't flirt when men when they are obviously taken.”
“I'm obviously taken?” He beamed his one of a kind, melts your heart, smile at me.
I grabbed his hand in mine after he put the check back to where I had previously put it. “Obviously.” I smiled.
“Good.” He lifted my hand to his mouth and kissed it. “I was afraid you would have written something mean.” He laughed, I knew he was just picking on me.
I rolled my eyes at him. “You have such little faith in me, my dear” I mocked how he had just recently said those words to me.
“Oh I have plenty, I'm just not sure how much of that faith is justified.” He smiled back at me.
There was something about elevators. I felt the electric like pull between us. Finally he pulled me close to him and kissed me. It was getting pretty hot and heavy when the elevator stopped at a floor. Someone came in and stood at the opposite wall of us. He pressed the next floor and we waiting in silence until that doors reopened. All the while he had his hand wrapped around the back of my neck, left there from when he kissed me, rubbing it softly. The person got out and when the doors closed Draco kissed me again.
I loved that he was able to in semi public. It was so nice, but these little private moments were even better. He gently backed me up against the elevator wall. The insides were mirrored so you could see us reflected all around. His mouth covered mine softly. His tongue brushed against my lower lip and then he bit it. I couldn't stifle a small moan. His hand roamed up and down my back, finally resting at the bottom of it. The other hand was lifting my face to his. The kiss started off sweet and gentle but we both let it grow to be something more. That's when it occurred to me. I wanted him. It had been way to long since I've had him and now that I thought about it I needed him. I rolled my body against his, which made him groan and kiss me harder. Yes.
And that's when, of course, the doors opened and we were on my floor. Not to mention that when I looked up and finally realized this I made eye contact with my boss. Oh.
Draco pulled himself away from me, fixing his shirt. He reached his hand out to my, and his former, boss. "Hello again" He broadly smiled.
"Always one to make an impression, Mr. Malfoy." He replied stiffly but then a smile played on his lips. "I see your new job can't give you one thing that your old one could."
I blushed again and Draco caught me. He grabbed my hand in his. "Yeah, there is definitely something here that you can't find anywhere else.
My boss smiled again. "Ah, well if you ever want to come back we would gladly take you."
"I will surely keep that in mind." Draco smiled kindly. "Now, I better get Ms. Granger back to work" He winked.
"Well someone has to keep her in line, she is a wild one." He joked, stepping in to the elevator we had just existed.
I rolled my eyes at him and gave him a stupid smiled. "Oh I'm a trouble maker alright."
"It was good seeing you Malfoy." He smiled as the doors closed.
Then another pair of eyes were on us. "Helloooo Mr. Malfoy." Lauren called over.
"Good afternoon Lauren. A pleasure to see you again." He smirked at her, which made her basically melt. She wouldn't go after him any further, she knew he was mine, even though I didn't tell her we were kind of together yet. Kind of? We were together...without me actually admitting it I guess. I wouldn't call myself his girlfriend but at lunch I did tell little miss presumptuous that he was taken. Which he seemed thrilled about. Lauren wouldn't go after him but there was no way to stop her from melting when he talked to her. It's what he did, no one could withstand it. Not even me.
I smiled over at her before rolling my eyes. We walked back to my office where we gladly picked up on where we had left off in the elevator. He knocked my things off my desk, and pushed me down onto it.
Things were just getting hot and heavy when his phone rang. He groaned but knew he had to answer it. He picked up the phone with an angry “What?!”
“Your little break is done. I have more work for you. Get over here now.” I heard a woman's voice hiss from the other end.
“Relax, I'm on my way back now.” He snapped again, hanging up the phone. “The beast demands my presence. So I have to go.”
I knew he meant his boss. I guess he really saw what a bitch she was. Good because I didn't like her. I pouted because I didn't want him to go.
“Hey, don't be sad.” He pulled me into a soft kiss. “We'll pick this up at my place tonight, I'll pick you up after work.” He smiled at me.
I couldn't help but smile back. “I'll hold you too it.”
