A few days after the battle, many hundreds of owls started arriving at the Burrow for Harry, Hermione and the Weasley's. There were letters of congratulations and thanks for getting rid of Voldemort, sorrow over the loss of Fred and letters for Harry and Ron from witches asking if they would like to go for a drink, all of which Ginny and Hermione burnt, Ginny and Hermione got letters from young wizards as well which Harry and Ron burnt. It took Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Arthur, Molly, Percy, Bill, George and Charlie all morning to go through and they kept coming.
Everyone, persuaded by Molly, had decided to stay at the Burrow exept Bill and Fleur went back to staying at the Shell Cottage. Harry and Ron shared a room, Charlie was sharing with George, he was taking Fred's death quite well because, as he said,
"He knew what he was letting himself in for,we all did, and he wouldn't want us to mop over him".
He still woke up in the middle of the night calling Fred's name, Charlie had said. Charlie had to remind him that his twin was gone and as George cried, Charlie would hold his younger brother, sometimes crying himself other times just hugging him silently.
Percy had his old room back, much to the relief of his mother who had missed him greatly while he had estranged them. He had apologized about this and everybody had forgiven him, he apologized to Harry for calling him mad and to Ron for saying that he should stay away from Harry.
For a break from opening all the letters, Harry, Ron, Ginny, Bill and Charlie had another game of Quidditch, this time George wanted to play so Percy just watched, which everyone was glad for. Percy, Hermione and Mr. Weasley watched from the big oak tree while the others zoomed about. It was Harry, Ron and Bill versus Ginny, George and Charlie.
Mr Weasley was commentating, Percy was keeping score and Hermione released the battered old Quaffle and since they couldn't use a snitch they used an acorn which Hermione kept levitated with her wand. Every time either Harry or Ginny, who were playing Seeker, went to get it she twitched her wand and it flew in another direction. She seemed to be rather enjoying herself, when Harry went for it one time, every time he went for it she waited until the last second and twitched it out of his reach. She did this once and as Harry missed it she levitated it right into Ginny's out reached hand. Harry flew away in mock anger and as Ginny was celebrating, he swooped back down and stole it back out of her hand. He flew away around the orchard and Ginny chased after him, it went on for about ten minutes until Mrs. Weasley called them in for lunch. The final score was 208-205 to Ginny's team.
The next day they got a letter asking Harry, Ron and Hermione to come into Gringotts that afternoon, Harry had a sneaky feeling what for.
They floo-ed with Bill to the leaky cauldron and they were early so they had a bottle of butterbeer each and explained to Bill what they thought they were called in for. By the end of the story Bill was looking at the three of them with an awed expression. "You should tell Charlie that story, he'll love the dragon part!" was the only thing Bill could think of to say to these amazing young adults. The trio laughed then Hermione checked her watch and jumped up.
" it's ten to two, we better get going" she said to them.
They said goodbye to Tom the barman and paid for their drinks then went out to the back. Bill tapped the wall with his wand and it opened up to a gloomy yet busy Diagon Alley. It looked a bit better than last time they had been there but still all boarded up in places
They walked quickly to Gringotts and entered through the doors. They immediately saw they damage they had caused in their escape.
"Blimey" said Bill, in surprise looking at the three people next to him "when you said you escaped on a dragon, I never thought you meant through the roof". Their laughter was cut short when a small, bespectacled Goblin showed them through to an office with a brass plate on the door stating this was the office of Xkodz Gringott, ChairGoblin and Owner of Gringotts. He was a descendant of Btog Gringott who a thousand years ago had started this bank in his name. The bank was passed down from father to son.
Harry entered the office first after Bill, who talked briefly with Xkodz, then Hermione and Ron followed.
"Well sit down then" said Xkodz in a clear, low voice.
They took their seats and Xkodz studied them for a minute before collecting a stack of parchment from his desk. He cleared his throat and began to talk.
