Brightest Witch Of Her Age
Draco Malfoy was sitting at the conference table. He was surrounded by dozens of wizards and witches all having a proposal to make in the hopes of becoming somehow involved with Malfoy Inc.
Sitting here reminded him, of when Voldemort had used his home, Malfoy Manor, as a meeting place for death eaters. He had hated seeing so many evil in his house. And he was the youngest of all death eaters, which made him feel intimidated.
Draco wasn't listening to what it was that the wizards and witches were saying. His mind was somewhere else. He heard a tap on the window and everyone looked to see a scrawny owl tapping on the window. It was Draco's owl.
It was odd, how Draco had received an owl here, as all of his owls were never delivered to him, but sent back before they reached him. How did this manage to get to him? He stood up as all eyes were on him. He went to open the window and the owl flew right in and stood on the table. Draco followed the owl and once it had settled down, he removed the letter. He saw that on the envelope it read in the most elegant hand writing. ‘Draco Malfoy'
After Draco had dismissed the witches and wizard, he walked to his office so he could read the letter.
I had no idea you had somehow taken over Malfoy Inc. As you know, I travelled and I just came back a couple of weeks ago, which would explain why I'm so far behind.
Anyways, let's cut to the chase. I would like to do an interview with you for The Quibbler, I have been told you keep yourself very private, but surely you can spare a few hours for an interview. I would just ask a few questions and you answer. If you are interested, please reply as soon as possible, the date, time and where.
Draco was still a bit stunned as to how the owl had been delivered to him but he decided to let it slide. He replied to Hermione, he called for his owl, and attached the letter to it before it flew away.
"Turning 21 is a big deal! It's a huge deal Hermione!" Ginny was practically yelling, as they walked down Diagon Alley.
"Shut up Ginny. You're going to draw attention to us!" Hermione said as several passer bys were looking in their direction.
"I'm sorry, it's just...” Ginny took a sip from her can. "You have to have a party; it’s not every day that the brightest witch of her age turns 21!"
Hermione smiled at being called that. "I'm not even at all bothered about it. I just want a dinner party with close friends."
"No! That what Harry did! You need a party! Ginny took another sip. "What is this stuff? It's brilliant!" She exclaimed.
"It's coke. It's full of sugar, that's why you're so hyper!" Hermione explained.
"Muggle inventions are amazing!" she declared.
Ginny was wearing dark blue jeans, with camel felt pea coat and a pair of strappy leather boots. She wore a large grey scarf around her neck, which was a gift from Hermione, Rayban sunglasses with a small black purse on her shoulders, and she had her hair in one big braid down her back.
They entered a pub in the south area of Diagon Alley.
"I'll plan the party, all you have to do is show up!" said Ginny as they sat down in a corner table near the window.
"Why do you want me to have this party so much?" she asked as a waiter came over.
"Hello I'm Lucy. What can I get for you?" the waiter asked eagerly.
She had shoulder length black hair and wore a plain red top with black skirt and black flats. She looked about the age of eighteen.
"Two Butterbeers please." Ginny answered.
The waiter nodded and left. Hermione removed her sunglasses and stared right at her red haired friend.
"Are you going to start ordering for me now?" she asked with a smile.
"Your hair might have changed but I know you're still a butterbear kind of girl." Ginny reminded her.
"You know me too well." she said.
The waiter, Lucy, had returned with their drinks and placed it on the table. She was about to leave when she noticed Hermione.
"Oh Merlin! You're... Hermione Granger." she said eagerly.
It was then that Hermione realized she had removed her sunglasses.
"I love your hair! It's absolutely stunning! I think it's bold and makes a statement!" she exclaimed.
"Thank you." Hermione said.
"The butterbeers are on the house!" she called, drawing a few attentions to their table.
"Oh... er thank you." Hermione smiled at her before the young girl went back into the kitchen.
"Anyways.." Ginny said. "You're having a party and that's the end of it!"
"Fine! Whatever you want!" Hermione said, defeated.
Ginny smiled before they both drunk their butterbear.
"So, I'm thinking we should make the party official by putting it in the newspaper for everyone to know. It has to be the party of the century!" Ginny said as she wrote down some stuff in a big notebook.
"Her birthday's in a week, how are you going to plan it quick enough?" Harry asked his red haired girlfriend.
They had decided to come back to Ginny's apartment after being spotted. The last thing they wanted was to be bombarded with questions.
"I'm Ginny Weasley. I can make it work." Ginny said.
"Of course you can honey, I never doubted you for a minute."
Ginny smiled. "Now should we have a dress code? I think everyone else should only wear yellow, so the birthday girl can wear pink!" she said, turning back to the girl in question.
"Why pink?" Hermione grimaced.
"Because, Pink is a brilliant colour!"
"And Mione," Harry chimed in. "wasn't your dress pink at the Yule Ball?"
"I know, but I don't want to wear pink again."
"Fine then, how about everyone wears red and you were green."
Hermione shook her head.
"Everyone wear scarlet and you wear gold? For Gryffindor pride."
"Luna was in Ravenclaw. I doubt that she'd come in anything other than blue or bronze."
"Exception for Luna?"
"No. No dress code Ginny! Let people come dressed in what they want! They can come dressed as Santa Claus if they want!"
"Santa Claus? I hope George doesn't do that." Ginny said.
There was a tap on the window and Hermione didn't recognize the owl. Harry went over to the window and grabbed the letter before the owl flew away.
"It’s for you Mione." He said as he handed Hermione the letter.
Hermione recognized the Draco Malfoy logo printed near her name. And she knew that Harry had recognized it too.
She opened it up and read.
Sounds great. Meet at Giovanni’s. 7PM. Tomorrow.
She closed it up and raised her head to see Ginny and Harry starring at her.
"Who's it from?" Ginny asked, with an eyebrow raised.
"It's from Malfoy." she said casually, as if it was the most normal thing in the world.
"What? Why Is he writing to you?" Ginny was clearly confused.
"It’s for Luna. I arranged an interview with him for the Quibbler."
"Err… okay then."
After about two hours later, Hermione apparated home. She stayed up all night watching muggle soaps with her mum, and catching up on the latest celebrity gossip.
It had been a while, and she had missed those girly times with her mum.
Sorry for the short chapter, but the plot'spicking up! :)
Personally, I love Ginny. She's a brilliant character, and I figured she might have a knack for birthday planning as well as being an incredibly tough girl. Anyone agree?
