“ARGGG” she screamed “GINNY!!!” Ginny's red head hung over hers, giggling. She had opened her eyes wide and put her face next to Hermione's, giving her a fright. “Don't EVER do that again!!!”
“Sorry, I was just about to wake you up. I need to dress you right now!!!”
“Ginny it's -” Hermione checked her watch “-6:00am!”
“Yes I know. Now come.” Ginny demanded. Hermione sighed and followed Ginny into the bathroom. On the counter there are a million different make-up and hair products.
“Ginny! I'm not that ugly!!”
“Well you might want to take a look at that bed hair of yours” Ginny laughed. Hermione closed her eyes as Ginny started slapping make-up onto her face.
“its always like that Ginny, you know that.” said Hermione.
“Plus we need to tame that monster in half an hour so you can get dressed and have breakfast.” continued Ginny, acting like she didn’t hear Hermione at all.
In the boys dormitories:
“Why do we have to get up this early Harry!” complained Ron.
“Because you want Hermione to see you at your best, plus I needed to wake you up because you were snoring so loud that I wouldn’t be surprised if you woke up Hermione.” harry exclaimed, tugging Ron out of bed, towards the boys bathroom
In the girls dormitories:
Hermione opened her eyes and looked in the mirror. At first she didn't recognise the girl in the mirror, but then realised that it was her. She was almost unrecognisable, with huge, dark eyes and tanned skin. Most changed was her hair, which was sleek and shiny. Now that it was straight, without any kinks or curls, it hung almost to her waist. “Oh my god Ginny, you are truly amazing!” said Hermione.
“No, what’s truly amazing is that your hair is actually that long! I mean I knew your hair was curly but this curly?”
“I know!!” Hermione checked her watch and squealed “Ginny!! It's nearly eleven o'clock!!”
“Yes, yes, calm down. Stay here while I get your dress” Hermione nodded and sat on the end of her bed. She closed her eyes and breathed deeply, to calm herself, then jumped as the door banged open. It was Ginny with her dress.
“Close your eyes” Ginny commanded. Hermione obeyed and felt the slip and slide of fabric over her skin and opened her eyes when she heard the sound of a zipper.
“Oh!” Hermione gasped. The dress was a creamy white, emphasising her tanned skin and dark eyes. It was tied with a crisp white sash, from which the fabric floated gently down to just above her knees. “Ginny, it's perfect!” Ginny just smiled and threw something onto Hermione's bed, then walked out the door. Hermione looked down to see some simple cream flats. She pulled them on and looked nervously in the mirror. She looked perfect, but she didn't know if it was to much or not.
Down at breakfast everyone was complimenting Hermione and asking where she got the dress. As she was walking to the Gryffindor table she bumped into Draco. “Oh, um s-sorry Hermione,” Draco stuttered. “Y-you look beautiful.” With those words Draco ran off before Hermione could thank him. As she ate breakfast she could still only think of Draco’s stone grey eyes.
When she was finished, she passed Filch, who was poking everyone in sight with his Secrecy Sensors. He poked her hard in the ribs as she walked into the spring sunshine. She stood near the Whomping Willow for a few minutes, just watching, then continued on to Hogsmeade, where she would meet Ron. She walked down the bumpy lane alone. It was silent, except for the twittering of the birds and the soft swish of the wind. The silence gave her a time to think. She thought of what Draco Malfoy had said. He had said she looked beautiful. She felt another fluttering in her stomach, that had nothing to do with her date. She passed the gates into Hogsmeade and continued onto the Three Broomsticks. She found a table for two and ordered a Butterbeer from Madam Rosmerta and waited. At 11:45 she started to worry about where Ron was She kept looking round at the tinkle of the bell on the door, but no red-heads.
“Um H-Hermione?” this time she looked away from the door at a blond headed, grey eyed Draco Malfoy.
“Yes?” she asked cautiously
“Is...is this...uh..seat taken?” she stuttered.
“Well..yea-no. Not it's not.”she answered, staring into the depths of her Butterbeer. She heard the scraping of a chair
“Are you waiting for someone?”
“Yes, Ron” Hermione said bluntly “Now what do you want Malfoy?”
He ignored her “You want some lunch?” Hermione checked her watch.
“I suppose.” Draco stood and Hermione watched him order something from the bar. He walked back with a plate of steaming chicken pie.
“Thanks. Chicken pie's my favourite”
“I know” Draco inched closer.
“How?” Hermione unconsciously moved closer too
“I...I...well I watch you”
Hermione felt herself blush
“Really? You watch me?”
“Yeah” he moved closer still, she could count every tiny freckle on his nose. She could smell his scent, a warm minty smell. Suddenly, she turned her head and said a hurried “I..I have to find Ron” she blushed as she hurried out the door, leaving Draco leaning into nothing
She hurried out into the spring sunshine up the lane to Hogwarts. As she was walking she started to worry about Ron. She started running and soon, out of breath and red-faced, she arrived at the Gyriffindor common-room.
“Ron? Ron, where are you??” she clattered up the stairs to boys dormitories.
“Ron are you ok? Ron? Ron – oh.” She flung open the door and saw a terrified looking Lavender Brown sit up out of Ron’s bed, trying to cover herself up. There was a ‘thunk’ as a box fell off the bed at the feet speechless Hermione. She picked up the box, which was a box of mostly eaten chocolates. The label on it said
Happy Valentine’s Day
Love Hermione xoxo
She slowly looked from Lavender to Ron, from Ron to Lavender, from the box to the chocolate wrappings on the sheets. Ron opened his mouth to talk but Hermione beat him to it.
A/N: Well, what do you think??
