A very stern looking teacher walked into the hall.
“My name is Professor McGonagall and very shortly I will be leading through these doors so you can be sorted. Once you have been sorted you will go to the appropriate table. You will be sorted in to one of the four houses, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. You will try to earn points for your house. A job well done will earn you points, while messing around will lose points. The house with the most points at the end of the year wins the house cup.” She said. “Now follow me.”
They walk through the doors into a big dining hall. Everyone is staring
at the. Professor McGonagall grabbed a stool that had an old hat on it.
Then the hat started to sing.
“I am the sorting hat, that much is true,
I am the sorting hat, and I will sort you.
I’ll put you in your house,
Standing proud and strong,
I’ll put you in your house,
Right where you belong.
Gryffindor for the brave,
Slytherin for the bold,
Hufflepuff for the kind at heart,
And Ravenclaw for the ones who are wise owls of old.
I am the sorting hat, that much is true,
I am the sorting hat, and I will sort you.”
When the sorting hat was done the whole hall burst into applause. Professor McGonagall unrolled a list and started calling off names.
Danni was nervous. She was so nervous that the next name she
noticed being called was Draco’s.
As the sorting hat was placed on her head there was only one thought in her head. ’Slytherin, I want to be in slytherin’ the hat started talking quietly to her. ‘You’d do well in Gryffindor. ’The hat said. ‘I want to be in Slytherin.’ Danni argued. ‘If you insist.’ The hat finally gave in. Then it yelled…
Danni was relieved that she was in Slytherin with Draco and not in Gryffindor with that stupid Potter kid. She sat down next to Draco and gave him a big grin.
“So I guess we’re in the same house.” She said.
“Yeah. I’m glad that Potter isn’t in Slytherin” Draco said.
“I hope we don’t have too many classes with the Gryffindor’s.”
The headmaster stood up and welcomed them to Hogwarts. After a few rules were given dinner was served.
“This is a lot of food, I wonder what they do with the leftovers?” Danni asked.
“I don’t know or care.” Draco replied.
“Of course.” She said with a roll of her eyes.
After they were done eating the Prefects lead them to their dormitories.
“The password is Pureblood.” The Slytherin prefect said. They walked into the common room.
“It’s amazing!” Danni exclaimed.
“Are we under the lake?” Draco asked.
“Yes we are.” A Prefect responded.
“This is wicked.”
“Alright I’m headed off to bed.” Danni said.
“Good night.” Draco said.
“Meet me in the common room at seven-thirty. Then we’ll head down to breakfast.”
“Alright. See you then.”
“Night.” Danni said before she walked away to her room.
“Hi, my name is Pansy Parkinson. Who are you?” One of the girls in her
“I’m Danni Philips.”
“Nice to meet you.”
“I like your pyjamas.”
“Thank you. My parents got them for me last year. It’s a miracle they still fit. I grow really fast.”
“I know what you mean. When I was little my shirts would only fit me
for a couple months.”
“I know! It still seems crazy how much you grow when you’re little.”
“Precisely. Do you mind if I set an alarm for seven?”
“No of course not. Just as long as it’s not set for five I’m fine.”
“Alright, if you don’t mind I am going to get some sleep. I don’t want
to be tired for my first day of classes.”
“Me either. Good night.”
The two girls got into bed and fell asleep almost immediately. They woke up the next morning to the sound of Danni’s alarm clock going off.
“Is it really morning already?” Danni grumbled. She climbed out of bed grabbed some things out of her bag and headed to the bathroom. Fifteen minutes later she walked back into their room showered and dressed.
“It felt so good to shower.” Danni said.
“I bet it did.” Pansy replied.
“Are you going to take a shower?”
“I’m going to go take one right now.”
“Great. Hey do you want to sit by Draco and me at breakfast?”
Fifteen minutes later they all meet in the common room.
“Alright, let’s head up to breakfast, I’m starved!” Danni says. They get to the great hall and head to their table.
“So what’s your blood status?” Draco asks.
“I’m pure, I think.”
“What do you mean you think?”
“I was pure before the vampire bit me, but now I don’t know what my
“Oh. I know this is a personal question but do you have scars?”
“Yes.” Danni pulled her hair back from her neck and showed Draco two bright red circular scars.
“Wow, how long until they fade?”
“They will never fade. That is why I never wear my hair up.”
“Oh. Do they still hurt?”
“A little. It gets better over time. I just wish there was a spell I could
use to conceal them.”
“Have you tried?”
“Yes. In Saint Mungo’s they tried to make them go away, but nothing worked.”
“Here are your schedules. Also, Miss Philips, Dumbledore wants to see you in his study.” A Slytherin Prefect said.
“Alright?” Danni replied.
Danni followed the Slytherin Prefect to Dumbledore’s office. When they got there the Prefect knocked on the door.
“Come in.” Dumbledore said.
Danni walked into his office. It had lots of magical instruments in it that Danni didn’t even know existed.
“Sit.” Dumbledore motioned to the chair in front of his desk.
She sat in front of Dumbledore’s desk.
“I have a slight concern about your ‘special abilities’ and what you could do to other students if you lose control so the other teachers and I have decided that if you are having problems with other students that you are to come to us immediately and we will also put you in another class if you have a problem with a students in one of your classes.”
“That is all. You may go.”
“Alright.” Danni said as she left Dumbledore’s office.
“Why did he want to see you?” Draco asked when she sat down next
“He just wanted to make sure I have my whole vampire thing under
“Oh, Alright. Are you hungry?”
“Starved, remember?” She said as she began to eat her breakfast.
“Our first class is Double Potions.”
“Who do we have it with?”
“Eww. Why with them?”
“At least Snape favours us.”
“Let’s go so we aren’t late.”
“Kay. Are you coming Pansy?”
