Chapter 1 : Love Story
Rating: 12+Chapter Reviews: 2

Background:   Font color:

We were both young when I first saw you
I close my eyes
And the flashback starts
I’m standing there
On a balcony in summer air

Rose looked up at her house. Sitting in the garden, in the shade of the apple-tree, she remembered when she first met her husband, Scorpius. Wishing she was still there, she closed her eyes. Suddenly, she was nineteen years old, stood up on the balcony outside the living room, feeling the warm air blowing across her face.

See the lights
See the party, the ball gowns
I see you make your way through the crowd
And say hello, little did I know

The magical lights flashed in her eyes as she looked back into the house. People were dancing in fancy dress robes, twirling around in the large room, stepping their feet in time to the music. She saw a lone boy Rose had never met with platinum blond hair and light grey eyes standing alone by the refreshment table. No one seemed to notice him, except for Rose. He caught her eye and started weaving between the dancers to the balcony. Smiling at Rose, he bowed low and looked up at her with sparkling eyes.
“Hello, pretty one. You don’t know me? Please say yes.”

That you were Romeo, you were throwing pebbles
And my daddy said stay away from Juliet
And I was crying on the staircase
Begging you please don’t go, and I said

“I’m Rose,” she introduced herself. Before the boy could reply, Rose’s father, Ron, came storming out.
“Scorpius Malfoy!” he bellowed. Rose gasped. She knew that Draco Malfoy was an old schoolboy enemy of her father’s, but she had never met him, and didn’t know that his son was the spitting image of him.
Ron seized Scorpius boy the scruff of his collar and carried him away. Rose ran after them, but Ron told her to stay in her room. Rose ran up, but sank down on the stairs and began to cry, watching her father open the door to throw Scorpius out.
“No!” Rose cried. “Scorpius, don’t go! Please say you won’t! Please say yes!”

Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone
I’ll be waiting all there’s left to do is run
You’ll be the prince and I’ll be the princess
It’s a love story baby just say yes

That night, Rose didn’t sleep. She tossed and turned restlessly, until she heard a faint tapping on her bedroom window. She sprang out of bed and flung them open. Standing in the garden below her window with his arms full of tiny pebbles was her beloved Scorpius.
“Please!” Rose said, “Let’s go where no one can find us!”
Scorpius just continued to beam at her.
“I’ll wait for you, and then we – we can run away together! It’ll be like Romeo and Juliet! Please, please say yes!”

So I sneak out to the garden to see you
We keep quiet ‘cause we’re dead if they knew
So close your eyes
Escape this town for a little while

Rose dressed quickly and silently, then eased open her bedroom door and sneaked down to the garden. She ran over to Scorpius, who embraced her tightly, as though he could never let go.
“Oh, Scorpius!” Rose said, a little too quietly. He hushed her.
“If your father found out, he’ll kill us!” Scorpius said. Rose giggled.
“I’d like to see him try,” she said. “Shut your eyes.” Scorpius did so, and Rose took his hand and, with his eyes still shut, let him out of the garden and into the street.
“Where are we going?” he asked.
“Out of town,” Rose replied, letting him open his eyes again. “You want to go?”
“Only if you do. Please say yes.”

‘Cause you were Romeo, I was a scarlet letter
And my daddy said stay away from Juliet
But you were everything to me
I was begging you please don’t go and I said

“You’re my Romeo,” Rose said quietly as they tiptoed back into her garden.
“And you’re my Juliet,” he whispered back, holding her hand tight. 'Don't ever let go.'
The back doors burst open and there stood Ron, looking furious. “Keep away from her,” he snarled at Scorpius as he dragged Rose inside.
“Scorpius!” Rose cried as he started to leave. “Don’t go! Please! I love you, and I know you love me too. Please say yes!”

Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone
I’ll be waiting all there’s left to do is run
You’ll be the prince and I’ll be the princess
It’s a love story baby just say yes

Again, there she was, crying her eyes out in her room, whispering words to herself, words she would tell Scorpius if she saw him again. No – when she saw him again.
“Let’s go somewhere we can be alone. We’ll run away. Together, and we won’t come back. They won’t let us be together. You’re my prince, and I’m your princess, please say yes.”

Romeo save me, they try to tell me how to feel
This love is difficult, but it’s real
Don’t be afraid, we’ll make it out of this mess
It’s a love story baby just say yes

She was right. They saw each other again. Rose wasn’t allowed to go anywhere without an escort nowadays, but when she, Hermione and Hugo went to the shopping centre, Rose said she’d just nip into the bookstore to see if they had the one she wanted. In truth, she had seen Scorpius in there, browsing, hidden behind a bookshelf. As they passed, she had just seen a glimpse of his blond hair. Hermione, who trusted the Malfoys now more than Ron did, let her daughter go, telling her to meet them in the shoe shop. Rose walked casually into the shop and tapped Scorpius on the shoulder.
“Rose!” he said in surprise, dropping the book he was holding.
“Scorpius! Please, we have to run away! You have to save me, my father, he’s trying to make me love someone else.”
“Oh, Rose,” Scorpius groaned as he picked up the book. “What else?”
Rose shrugged. “They can’t accept the truth. We are in love. Yes, it isn’t easy, but we aren’t imagining it.”
Scorpius hugged her tightly. “Don’t worry, Rose. We can get out of this. Together. We’ll run away. Please say yes.”

I got tired of waiting
Wondering if you were ever coming around
My faith in you is fading
When I met you on the outskirts of town, and I said

Wishing she had a watch, Rose sat down under a tree, brushing her hair out of her eyes. She was meeting Scorpius here, so they could run away together, but he wasn’t there. He didn’t come. He never came. Three days they had arranged to run, and three days he didn’t turn up. She was bored, tired of waiting for him, wondering if he would ever come. If they could meet up every day until they died and he wouldn’t come. Probably. She was beginning to wonder if he stopped loving her, if he loved someone else. Picking up her rucksack, she was about to head back into Ottery St Catchpole, when she saw a familiar boy with grey eyes and sleek blond hair gliding towards her. No bags, no nothing. His hands were shoved in his pockets and Rose was thinking of what to say when he reached her. We can be together, please say yes.

Romeo save me I’ve been feeling so alone
I keep waiting for you but you never come
Is this in my head? I don’t know what to think
He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring

“Scorpius!” she cried. “I’m so alone, help me! There’s no one there for me, not even you. I’ve been waiting hours, but you’re never there, I – I don’t know if you still love me or not, but please, just say something, so I know you still want to do this –“ But before she could say anything else, he knelt on one knee, took out a little black box from one of his pockets and opened it. Three words were circling in Rose’s mind, three words she knew he would be saying: “Please say yes.”

And said, marry me Juliet
You’ll never have to be alone
I love you and that’s all I really know
I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress
It’s a love story baby just say yes

“Rosie,” he muttered, “will you be my wife?” Rose just stood there, mouth wide open like some unattractive frog. “I know, I left you, but I was making my decision: leave and love without really knowing, or stay and be together like we were always meant to be. And know, I’ve made it. You’ll never be alone again, Rosie, because I don’t know much, but all I know is that I love you and I want to be with you.”
“But – what about my father?”
“I talked to him, I made him see sense that I loved you and I was nothing like my father. You’ll look beautiful in a white dress, so please say yes?”

I know some of the "Please say yes"es dont make sense at the end of each paragraph, but "just say yes" cropped up in the song so often, I decided to make it a catchprase of the story. And yes, the names in the song are Romeo and Juliet, but tryto imagine it says Scorpius and Rose?? Thanks for reading this!! xxxxx
