Chapter 9 : Chapter Nine
| ||Rating: Mature||Chapter Reviews: 3|
Background: Font color:
I opened my eyes slowly, everything hurt. Especially my head. My eyes looked around the room. I was in the Hogwarts hospital wing. Last thing I remember I was talking to Dom in Gryffindor tower.
“Oh my merlin, your awake!” A guy’s deep voice said, I found arms around me and someone kissing me. Whoa, what?! At first I thought it was Zander, but then I knew that he wasn’t that good of a kisser. And he never kissed me unless there was a large audience.
The guy stepped back and I was shocked at what I saw. This guy, he looked like an older James Sirius Potter. I took a second to see if it was Harry, but it wasn’t.
“You have no idea how worried I was Aspen!” The bloke told me, “I don’t know what I would do without the girl I love!” He hugged me tightly. Okay, well this was getting weird.
“Listen, I don’t know who the heck you are but your starting to creep me out a little bit.” I told the guy.
“What?!” He questioned me.
Just than a woman rushed over towards the bed I was on. “How are you feeling Aspen?”
“My head hurts.” I told her.
“Okay, I’ll get you a potion for that.” She walked away.
“What do you mean you don’t know who I am?” The guy asked.
“I mean I have no idea who you are.”
“Aspen, it’s me. James.”
“Nice try but James is thirteen years old.”
The guy looked at me as if I had gone completely mad. Which I kind of did a few years ago but that’s besides the point. He was really starting to creep me out right now. He kept staring at me.
“Vic!” He called. The woman came back with a potion in her hand.
“Here, take this.” She handed me the vile of blue liquid. Gross. But I threw my head back and drank it anyways.
“Vic, Aspen doesn’t know who I am.” The guy told her.
The woman paled a little bit, “I was afraid this would happen. Aspen, what’s the last thing you remember?”
I thought for a moment, “Talking with my friend Dom in the common room and studying boggarts.”
“We did that in third year, a few days before Christmas break.” The guy said.
“Aspen, well I don’t know how to really say this, but your eighteen years old and in your seventh year. This really is James Potter, and I’m Victorie Weasley.”
I stared at them, “Excuse me?”
“I know it’s a lot to take in right now Aspen.” Victorie said, “And I’m sorry for that.”
“How did I lose my memory?” I asked them.
“You were just in a coma for about a month because during a quidditch match you were hit with two bludgers. One in your stomach and one in your head. I cured everything in your stomach and we were waiting for you to wake up.”
“Did we win?” I asked.
James laughed, “Yeah. The Ravenclaw seeker caught the snitch so it was tied, but right before she caught it you made a goal. We won because of you.” I smiled to myself.
Suddenly I started to feel sleepy. “It’s the potion.” Victorie explained.
“Oh...okay.” I yawned and put my head on the pillow, quickly drifting into sleep.
“Remember everyone, she lost her memory of the past years, so be careful.” James’s voice said as I woke up. I heard multiple foot steps coming towards me.
I opened my eyes to see James and some other people. They looked like older versions of my friends. James was holding a large stack of books...or something.
“Aspen, your awake!” James grinned and sat down in a chair next to my bed.
“Yeah...” I responded looking at the people.
“Oh, this is seventh year Dom, Bradley, Danny, Ally, Roxy, Megan, Louis and Freddie.” It was weird seeing them all so old, especially the boys. They all had amazingly hot muscles. James had the biggest ones, and the hottest. But I could be a little biased, seeing as I’m in love with him.
“And these are your journals since around the last time your remember something, I thought that they might help.”
“Thanks, I’m sure they will. But how did you get them?” I asked. I kept my journals in a place no one would find them, and I did that for a reason. If anyone ever read certain entries, world war three would proabaly start. “I would never tell anyone where I kept these.”
“I’m not anyone.” He responded, leaving me even more confused than before.
“So how are you feeling?” Dom asked me, smiling. She looked great now. Her light golden brown hair fell proabaly about mid way down her back. It still had those perfect waves that I was always jealous of.
“Okay, my head and ribs have been hurting non stop, but I expected that with what happened to me. But it’s weird not remembering anything, it’s like I jumped forward on my personal timeline.”
“You always had a way with words.” Roxy laughed.
“Thanks.” I replied.
“When are you getting sprung? We have a game in two days in your replacement sucks.” Freddie asked.
Suddenly he was smacked by Ally, “She just lost her memory of the past four years and just woke up from a month long coma because of a quidditch game and your talking about bloody quidditch!” She exclaimed.
“Merlin, sorry. I just don’t want to lose anymore games.” He said grumply.
“To answer your question, Freddie, Victorie hasn’t told me anything yet.”
“YO! VIC!” He yelled at his cousin, she turned around and raised an eyebrow at him, I knew I always liked that girl.
“Yes?” She asked.
“When are letting Aspen out?”
“Not until the day before you leave for home.”
“WHAT?!” Dom cried, “Vic, that’s in two weeks! I just went a month without her, I don’t you to add two more weeks!’
“Dom, it’s for her health. But you are all more than welcome to spend time up here. If you want, I can even have the house elves bring your food up here, like they are doing with Aspen’s.”
“Sign me up.” James spoke first.
“Me too!” Dom cried.
“You can all stop that, I know how many of you there are. Does anyone not want to eat up here?” No one spoke up or raised their hand.
I love my friends.
Even if they all are crazy.
“Thanks guys.” I grinned at them.
“No problem. Anything for our favorite blonde!” Bradley smiled, putting an arm around me.
“Oi! What about me?” Louis asked.
“Fine, favorite blonde girl.”
“You know, I’m kind of blonde too!” Dom started.
“Whatever, anything for our favorite person whose name starts with a!” Bradley revised.
“Excuse me?!” Ally entered the converstation.
“BLOODY HELL!” Bradley yelled, “Okay, last shot. Anything for our favorite girl with four middle names!” After that, no one said anything. Bradley looked very pleased with himself.
Merlin save me!
Twenty minutes later, everyone left expect for James. Apparently Teddy Lupin-who was the new defense against the dark arts professor-assingned them a killer essay, five scrolls. Oh the joys of N.E.W.T. year!
Ally, Roxy, Megan, Danny and Bradley were going to work on the essay, while Dom, Louis and Freddie came up with various ways of killing they’re very close family friend. What is sad is that that doesn’t faze me anymore. Not that it really did the beginning.
What can I say? I’ve always been this crazy.
“Was that odd for you?” James asked.
“Kind of. I mean, it’s weird seeing everyone so much older and everything. And I feel like I’m missing so much.”
“That’s why I brought these.” He tapped my journals.
“Thank you for that, I think they are actually going to help a lot. I’ve always written everything that has happened in my life.”
“Yeah, but I have to warn you Aspen.”
“About what?” He seemed really weird about it.
“Some of the things that has happened to you in the past four years...well, some of them are really bad. You haven’t had an easy time since November in third year.”
“How bad is it? Should I not read it?”
“No.” He said sterenly, “You need to read it. But it can get really bad at some points.”
“Okay, well thanks for warning me.”
“No problem, but I also want you to know that there are also good parts. But the good parts, they are just good. While the bad parts, they are really bad.” I nodded and smiled as he stood up. “Goodbye Aspen, I’ll see you tomorrow morning before classes, okay?”
“Okay.” I responded and watched him walk out of the hospital wing.
“Are you hungry, Aspen? I have some pretzels if you want them.” Victorie asked me, holding up a small bag of pretzels and shaking them.
“Yeah, thanks.” She tossed them towards me. Coolest healer ever? Hell yes.
“Hey, it’s eleven at night and I don’t mind if you stay up and everything but this is the time I’m supposed to go to sleep. And I sleep on the second floor, are you okay if I leave?”
“Totally, I’ll be fine.”
“Great, here take this.” She gave me a small object with a button on it. “Press this if you need anything. I should be back around six in the morning, okay?” I nodded. “Okay, goodnight Aspen.”
“Goodnight Vic.” I told her as she shut off the main light, leaving only the light on my bedside table on. Victorie left the wing, closing the large wooden doors behind her.
Yay, all alone. I reached for my journal that I had while I was in third year and opened it too the last day I remember. December 9th, 2018. I began reading and sat in that bed reading and reading everything that had happened to me in the last four years.
It was only five minutes in when I discovered the journal entry that stood out the most at me.
They told me three hours ago. It’s cancer. I don’t even know what to think right now. Everything just feels numb, including my emotions. The doctors told me I have a one in ten shot of suriving. In other words, the odds are not in my favor.
I’m pretty confident that I’m going to die. But my parents want me to go through with the treatment. So I’m going to do it for them, and my brothers. Even though it most likely won’t save my life.
So I’m not going back to Hogwarts. And I have been ignoring the owls Dom has been sending me about going shopping with her before New Years. I think I’m going to keep ignoring any owls people send me.
There are bound to be a lot, at least I think so. But I don’t want anyone to know, I don’t want them to feel the pain I do right now. I don’t want to hurt anyone else. I think that already do enough of that.
What am I going to do with my last few months? I’ll hope. And spend time with my family. But mostly hope. I don’t know what I’ll hope for. But I’ll for something, anything, everything.
So that was the really bad part, I had had cancer. I dropped the journal onto my lap and ran my fingers through my hair. It was hard to believe, since I was fine now. Well, as fine as you can be after just waking up from a coma.
I decided to just keep reading, find out what else what happened. Around four am, I finished all the journals. It was all insane. Espeically the whole me dating James Sirius Potter thing. So I did what I do best in these situations, I sleep.
The next morning I woke up around ten. Joy, only six hours of sleep. “Good morning Aspen, how did you sleep?” Victorie asked as I woke up.
“Horrible, I only got six hours.”
“Okay, tonight I’ll give you a sleeping potion. Here is your breakfast.” She placed a plate of eggs, toast and bacon on a tray in front of me.
“Thanks.” I said as I started with my eggs.
“Your welcome. Everyone came by this morning and said they were going to come eat lunch up here.”
“Awesome. Hey Vic, what I’m going to do about school? Because I don’t remember any of it.”
“Oh, well in situations like yours, there is a special thing we do.” She held up another potion, “We basically mixed all the knowledge of the past four years into this potion. If you drink it, you’ll have all that knowledge again.”
“Are you serious?”
“Okay then, how much do I have to take?” I asked, eyeing the large bottle.
“All of it.”
“Sorry A, but you have too.”
“Ugh, fine. Give it here.” Victorie handed me the bottle and I began chugging it. My mum always wanted me to be all lady like and everything, but when you grow up with seven muggle brothers, you can’t end up lady like. It’s like a law of nature.
The potion was disgusting, it tasted like wet paper and lavender. I hate lavender with a passion. Why does everyone think it smells all great and shit?! It smells horrible for Godric’s sake! That stuff makes me sick.
I handed the empty bottle back to Victorie. “It should take effect in a few hours and then you can start on your school work.”
“Awesome.” I said and Victorie walked away to fill out some paper work. I pulled out my most recent journal to write.
So, I’m in the hospital wing. Last month in a quidditch game I was hit with two bludgers, one in my stomach breaking a few of my ribs and one in my head putting me in a coma for a month. But that’s not it.
The bludger that crashed into my head caused memory loss. Four years of it. The last thing I remember is talking to Dom in my third year and studying boggarts. But it’s not third year. It’s seventh, and it’s December.
I read all of my old journal entries and they have helped me with my memory loss, at least I know what happened in those four years. I just can’t believe I had cancer, but I guess I also felt like that when it actually happened. I also can’t believe that I’m dating James Potter. The guy I have been in love with for eight years. Oh wait, it’s twelve years now.
I hope that I’ll regain my memory, it’s not enough to just read about my life. I want to remember it all. To laugh about that ‘thing’ that happened that one time. But all of my friends are going to hang out with me in the hospital wing for the next two weeks. That’s how long I have to be in here. Everyone just arrived for lunch. Bye!
Dom was on Bradley’s back, she was giggling and he was grinning. They really were the dream couple. Despite Dom having a miscarriage. They were the dream couple because they always seemed happy if the other was happy. And they never fought. Not with each other anyways.
“Hey Aspen.” Dom greeted me, sitting down on the end of my bed.
“Did you have the time to read any of your journals?” James asked, standing behind Dom.
“Yeah, all four years worth.”
“Wow, how did it take you?”
“About five hours, but at least I know now.”
“I can’t believe you read that much.” Freddie said, shaking his head and reaching for some lunch.
“Some of us like to read, unlike you Freddie.” Ally told him.
“Whatever.” He responded.
“Want to play some card games? It’s really boring up here.”
“Sure.” Danny said, pulling out a stack of cards. Back in third year I had taught them all how to play certain muggle card games. “What do you want to play?”
“Egyptian rat sqrew.” We all said at the same time. Danny dealed out the cards and we all began playing.
That’s how the next two weeks basically went for me. Wake up late, take my medication, do school work while eating breakfast, have lunch with everyone, do some more school work, have everyone come and hang with me for an hour, eat dinner with everyone, hang out with them some more, go to sleep. It was quite boring. But tomorrow was the day I would finally get released. Thank Merlin!
I’m so sorry it took me so long to update and that it's so short! I jammed three of my fingers while playing goalie in waterpolo, so they are all wrapped up and I can only use on finger on that hand and my thumb. Fantastic, right?! Ugh, it’s so annoying. Anyways, I hope you like the chapter, here are the chapter questions:
Do you think it sucked?
What do you think of Aspen loosing her memory?
Do you like the journal parts?
Any ideas for next chapter when they go home for Christmas?
Thank you so much everyone for you patience with this story! I hope you review but I just want to make it clear that that isn’t why I do this. It’s because I love to write and know that somewhere in the world someone is reading my work. And that I might actually help someone with my writing. But if you do have any feed back-postive or negative-please do review. Thanks again everyone!
