I was burning up; it felt like I was literally on fire. I could hear Draco calling through the smoke:
“BLAISE!!! GOD DAMMIT BLAISE SHE’S ALREADY OUT! WHAT THE HELL DID YOU NEED TO COME BACK FOR?”
“THE RING!” Blaise was yelling from somewhere far ahead. “I NEED THE FUCKING RING DRACO!! THAT’S WHY CHRISTMAS WAS GOING TO BE SO DAMN SPECIAL!”
“Jesus Christ” Draco muttered under his breath. “BLAISE THE WHOLE HOUSE IS ABOUT TO COLLAPSE AND THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL THAT I AM LEAVING YOU HERE!” At that moment Blaise came scrambling up from out of the smoke.
“Got it,” He breathed.
“Then let’s get the hell…” Draco stopped, listening, something was cracking. “Shit.” He whispered. “RUN!” Both boys took off, leaving me behind in the flames, the house started rumbling, and the roof… oh the roof! It was caving! And I was still here. I tried to open my mouth to call out Draco, but no words would come out. The roof was falling all around me….

I landed on the floor with a thump, I was all tangled up in my blankets. I had apparently been thrashing and trying to fight and fell off the bed. The thud seemed to reverberate through the floor. I couldn’t move from where I was. Suddenly Ginny was at the door.
“Hermione? Are you alright” She came and sat beside me, helping me untangle the blankets and allowing me to sit up. I was not quite sure of what had happened.
“I don’t know… I need…” I put my head in my hands trying to shake and awful feeling from my chest, “I need to borrow Hedwig.” Suddenly finding energy I jumped up and skidded out the door. I ran down the stairs to Harry’s room. I pounded on the door. “Harry! Harry! Please wake up!” Harry answered the door, bleary eyed, his hair was sticking up far worse than usual, and I wondered if he would ever be able to make it sit in some sort of functional mess.
“Wha?” He muttered.
“I need to borrow Hedwig! Please, it’s an emergency.” I pleaded. Harry just stared at me.
“And you couldn’t have come and gotten her without waking me up? Jesus Hermione. Just take her when you need her.” He was grumpy, but his kindness was everything I needed at that moment.
“Thank you so much Harry,” I impulsively kissed him on the cheek and dashed past him to pull Hedwig out of her cage. I then took the stairs three at a time to get back to my bedroom.
Ginny was still standing in the doorway, looking at me with concern.
“Hermione, what the hell is going on?” She asked, closing the door behind her.
“I can’t exactly explain it, and I’m not quite sure myself but I really, really, have to send this letter.”
“Is it Draco?” I stiffened. Ginny looked all-knowing, “You shouted his name in panic, that was the real reason I came to check on you, then I felt the thump through the floor.”
I scribbled a note quickly, ignoring Ginny’s inquiries, but wondering if anyone else has heard me shouting…
Draco,
I had a very disturbing dream about you last night, and it felt incredibly real. Maybe I’m just being crazy but I need to check on you. I know you didn’t want to send letters but, just, please, let me know that you’re alright as soon as you can. I know it’s probably crazy but I need to know that everything’s fine and that you’re not hurt. Please be ok.

Ginny was watching me worriedly as I attached my tiny letter to Hedwig’s held out leg.
“He’s at the Zambini manor Hedwig, find him as fast as you can, please!” I begged the owl, my hopes that everything had just been a dream resting on her snowy wings. She just looked at the letter and then at me. She preneed her wings feathers and then she settled herself firmly down on my windowsill. What was the bird doing? Hedwig had always been able to find people, what did this mean?
“Oh God” I murmured softly. Tears came unbidden to my cheeks, if she wasn’t moving; did that mean there was no Draco Malfoy to find?
“No,” I whispered, “No, no, no, no, no…” I collapsed on the floor. Ginny knelt behind me and hugged my shoulders. This could not be happening….
