“Hey, Grassy!” At the sound of my name I stopped in my tracks and angrily turned my head to find James Potter walking towards me with a grin. He was the one person I didn’t fancy talking too. Not only was he a year older than me, he was Head Boy and captain of the Gryffindor quidditch team. The way he abused my last name really annoys me and I swear most of the time he just makes up pathetic excuses to talk to me. I’m sure his soul purpose in life is to annoy me. He brothers’ alright, he’s charming, smart and weirdly attractive. The way I seem to fall into his blue eyes slightly creeps me out.
I sighed and turned around on the spot with a scowl plastered to my face as James rushed to my side with a grin on his face and he hands hidden behind his back. “What?” I asked a little angrier than I meant too. “As you can see I’m in a rush so would you mind hurrying up with whatever rubbish you’re going to say and get on with it?”
James looked a little offended at my tone, but all the same he revealed what was in his hands and smiled. Clutched firmly in his hand was a clump of grass which looked like it had just been yanked from the ground. I raised my brow as the seventeen year old pulled my hand forwards before dumping the clump of grass in my hand, mud still attached. “I would get you flowers, but I was being creative,” James said cheerfully as he replaced his hands in his pockets.
My green eyes were fixated on the small clump of grass lying on the palm of my hand as I thought about what to do next. James Potter had just given me some grass in the middle of a corridor for no apparent reason- I told you he was only around to annoy me. My words were caught in my throat as I stared at the small clump of green in my hand just as Al came to save the day. He appeared at my side before he furrowed his brow as he stared at the grass James had just given me. “Taylor,” he started curiously. “Why are you holding some grass in your hand?”
“Because I just gave it to her,” James exclaimed proudly. “I would get her flowers, but I thought grass went well with her eyes.” And he had told me it was because he was being creative.
Al nodded his head, obviously not understanding the situation before he put a hand on my shoulder. At his gentle touch my whole body was covered in Goosebumps and I felt a small shiver run down my spine. I finaly tore my eyes away from the grass in my hand before the settled on Al’s gaze and it was if my whole body had melted. I had completely lost concentration on what I had previously been thinking as I started into Al’s deep blue eyes. They were so beautiful, but I wasn’t attracted to him…maybe.
Nearly every single girl fifth year and above in Hogwarts want to marry either Al or James, some even want to marry Scorpius Malfoy for some reason. I didn’t know what they were all attracted to. Except for Al’s charm or Scorp’s sense of humour or James’ talent at quidditch or even Al’s eyes and they might be attracted to Scorp’s body or Al’s cute charm or they may even be attracted to James’ rebellious streak. Okay there were probably a lot of things the girls at this school were attracted too and the three boys together filled the whole ‘hunk’ package most teenage girls were after.
I wasn’t sure how long I was starting creepily at Al before I realized I was staring before looking away awkwardly. I felt my cheeks burning up with embarrassment as I felt Albus remove his hand from my shoulder. “Well we better be going,” Al started as he slightly nudged me forwards. “We have a…Charms test next lesson so we should probably get going to that.”
“Yeah,” I added hastily. “We really need to be going now.”
James frowned but didn’t say anything as he watched us walk off before he vanished as we turned the corner. I sighed with relief before I realized I was still holding the grass carefully in my hand, why did I have some grass again? Then when I remembered James had given it to me I sighed before shoving it all in my robe pocket. Then I realized Al was looking awkwardly at me. “What?” I asked as I brushed my blonde hair behind my ear.
The sixteen year old shoved his hands in his pockets before he leaned against the wall, his blue eyes never leaving me. “I’m just wondering why James is obsessed with talking to you,” he replied with a small shrug. “You seem to set off something in his mind which makes him act like a total moron.”
“He is a total moron,” I chipped in with a grin.
The comment made Al grin from ear to ear before we both burst out in fits of laughter just as Scorp came round the corner. The look on his face made me laugh harder as he rubbed a hand through the golden blond hair. “I’ve missed something,” he assumed after a moment of awkward silence.
I shrugged and tried to suppress my giggles behind my hand, but it just wanted working at I looked at Scorp’s expression. Al saved me again from saying anything. “You could say that,” he replied with a twinkle in his blue eyes.
Scorp smiled before striding towards us with one hand gripping his Charms textbook. “I was just studying, which is a big change for me,” He added upon arrival. “I just received an owl from my dad about grades, you could say he wasn’t very happy with them. He said and I quote ‘I am very disappointed in you, son. As a Malfoy we should be near the top of ever class and not near the bottom. Me and your mother have talked and we have both agreed that if the grades say the same we will ask the headmistress to take you off the quidditch team and make you have private tutoring with her until your grades improve."
“I guess you need to study then,” Al concluded and Scorp nodded his head glumly. “You can’t be taken off the quidditch team as we need to you to stop the bludgers attacking us constantly. And James won’t be very happy that you’ve been taken off the team either, we need the best to get the cup this year.”
“I know,” Scorpius replied with a small sigh.
There was a moment of awkward silence as none of us could think of anything to say when the bell went for lessons. Al and Scorp exchanged looks before they wordlessly began to walk away towards the Grand Staircase. I was so lost in my own thoughts I didn’t see them walk off until Al stopped and turned his head. “You coming, Grassy?” He called with a grin.
Rolling my eyes I smiled before running after the two boys. What kind of surname is Grass anyway?
