marauders forever xx
“Rosie, listen to me,” I sat down, “We need to talk.”
Suddenly, the door burst open to reveal Alice.
“I don’t know what you two love birds are up to,” she sang, “And I don’t want to know, but James isn’t letting the party start before his star chaser and beater show up.”
“Not now Sirius. You two are coming to the party right freaking now,” she said forcefully and grabbed us by the arm and dragged up out.
“Mate!” James yelled above the din as Alice, Rosie and I entered the common room.
So much for the party not starting until Rosie and I got there.
I tried to grab Rosie’s arm to take her somewhere where we could talk: somewhere where I could tell her what was going on.
I may have promised Lily that I wouldn’t tell anyone but things couldn’t go on like this. Someone had to know. I figured that Lily would trust Rosie the most and besides, she was the one I was most comfortable around.
I looked wildly around for Rosie, but she was already disappearing into the crowd.
I would never find her.
“Firewhisky?” James said and offered me a cup. I downed it in one go.
“Whoa, Padfoot, take it easy,” Prongs joked but handed me another cup of Firewhisky.
“Come on!” Alice dragged me through the crowd to who-knows-where. I thanked Merlin for Alice for saving me from Sirius’ inevitable question of ‘What’s wrong?’ but at the same time, I cursed her because Sirius was going to tell me something important.
“Where are we going?” I yelled as Alice dragged me behind her.
“Emergency girl timeout!” Alice shrieked, which bought herself a few confused glances from people. Alice crashed into our dorm which had a white faced Lily sitting on the bed.
My mind flashed back to what I had Seen and I feared the worst.
“Lily?” I said softly and mentally prepared myself for the horrors.
“I kissed him,” Lily said in a daze.
“What?!” I said, shocked, “You kissed Smith?!”
“What?! No, not Smith. Why the fucking hell would I kiss Smith?!” Lily yelled, “I KISED JAMES POTTER!!”
The dorm was dead silent. My jaw had just dropped through the floor and Alice looked like she was about to pass out.
"Really?!" Alice squealed and grabbed Lily's hands. Lily nodded furious and danced around the room like I bunch of loonies.
I sat down heavily on the bed and hunched over. I tried to keep my breathing steady and the tears from spilling out.
"Al, aren't you happy for Lily?" Alice said as she dropped Lily's hands. I bit my lip and looked at Lily.
If Lily like James, then that was ok. If she started going out with him then it was not good at all.
If she actually liked him and she acted on it then there was every chance that what I had Seen would become true.
"What I Saw could become true," I whispered.
"Oh, Al!" Lily said and sat next to me, "Don't be like that. I just kissed him! And besides, you knew I liked him before and it's not like we're getting married!"
I bit my lip and looked away. I couldn't deal with knowing exactly when, where, how and why Lily and James would die.
Inwardly, I sighed but I looked up anyway and smiled at the two girls looking at me.
"Sure," I forced a laugh, "It's not like you're getting married."
I woke up the next day in an unfamiliar bed. Someone's arms were wrapped around me.
I turned around and saw a sleeping Sirius. His breath tickled my face. Slowly, his eyes opened.
"Hey, beautiful," he said with a smile.
"Hello, Sirius," I said and kissed him lightly on the lips. I pulled away but he clung onto me and kissed me deeply.
"I wish we could be like this forever," Sirius said contently.
"We can," I said and looked at him.
"Not if I'm supposedly going to end up in Azkaban and you're going to die," he said miserably.
"That's not going to happen," I said forcefully, "And besides, we can always enjoy it now."
I felt like a liar when I kissed Rosie.
Of course I was going to end up in Azkaban and she was going to die. That was the only way, wasn't it? You can't change the future just like that. I don't believe in the whole 'you determine your own fate' thing. I believed that your future was already set out for you.
I looked at the beautiful girl who was dozing in my arms and kissed her forehead.
I sighed contently and hugged her tighter.
I'd heard from James last night that lily had kissed him. Yes, you heard right, Lily Evans kissed James Potter. Not James kissing Lily but Lily kissing James.
I didn't have to like Lily, but I was happy for my best mate.
Rosie was dozing when the bed curtains were ripped open.
“Moon-“ Remus cut me off with a jumble of words that tumbled out of his mouth.
“Sirius, no time… I know you’re preoccupied… but James,” he panted. Rosie’s eyes fluttered open.
“What happened?” She said, still half asleep.
“I have to make sure James is alright,” I said.
“Ok,” she said and then smiled before quickly falling asleep again.
Remus didn’t even wait until I had put a shirt on before he was already sprinting down the hall.
“What happened?” I asked Remus as we sprinted down the hallway.
“James got called to Dumbledore’s,” Remus slid as he turned a corner, “About his mum…Death Daters.”
I swore loudly.
“Is she ok?” I asked
“She’s fine. Well, she’s not but at least she’s alive,” Remus pushed the doors open, “I’m just hoping James doesn’t do something stupid.”
We were nearing the edge of the Forbidden Forest when I heard the yelling and swearing start
"Stupid fucking Death Eaters!"
"I should just go and avada them right fucking now1"
"Do you here me, Peter? I'm going to kill every fucking moron who hurt my mum today!" There was a dull thud and then some more loud swearing from James.
"Mate," I said when James and Peter came into view, "What happened?"
"Death eaters went after James' mum," Peter said and looked worriedly over to where James was still swearing.
"SHE"S IN FUCKING HOSPITAL!" James seethed when he saw me, "If going to fucking kill them all!"
"You hear me, Sirius? All the fucking Death Eaters!" James screamed.
"Sure thing, ma-"
"You're stupid fucking family!"
"Cool-" Wait what? "What the hell, James?"
"You heard me, Black. Your fucking family attacked my mother," James hissed.
"Ok, I think you need to chill, James," I said and shook my head.
"I will not chi-"
"JUST LSTEN TO ME," I screamed, "They are not my family and you know it. I haven't talked to my parents for, like, a year. You and your parents are like my family."
I expected James to continue yelling or perhaps punch me in the face but instead he sat down and started crying.
At that moment, Lily came running with Rosie struggling to keep up with her.
"James!" Lily said and wrapped her arms around him. He leaned into her and bawled even louder.
"It's okay, James," Lily whispered, "She's still alive."
"But the baby's not!" James sobbed. Wait-wht? Baby? What baby?
"Baby?" Lily said and looked up at me in shock. I shook my head to tell her I didn't now.
"Sh-sh-sshe," he managed to say between sobs, "Wa-as pre-e-egnant."
There is nothing worse than seeing a boy cry.
Nothing, I tell you. Nothing.
I had no idea what I was supposed to do. Peter and Remus were standing awkwardly to one side while Sirius was standing nearer to sobbing James and Lily.
I'd heard what James had yelled about Sirius' parent.
To be entirely fair though, Sirius didn't even associate himself with his parents. It was clear that he wanted nothing to do with them.
I walked up to Sirius and put a hand on his shoulder. I wanted him to know that i was here for him.
He pulled me into a hug and held onto me like his life depended on it.
Something wet plonked on my shoulder.
I looked up to Sirius and realised that he was crying too.
