A silence filled with tension followed my previous statement. My eyes flew to the floor, my hand still rubbing the unoccupied flesh of my neck.
Mum's voice traveled through the house from her bedroom. "Does she know where it is, love?" She sounded worried and hopeful.
My mouth felt like a dry savana. I tried to gulp on nonexistient spit like people in the movies do when things like this happened. It looked just as fake on me as it did the celeberties. I decided to just spit it out. The old bandage hurts less when you just rip it off mentality, you know.
"Mum, I lost the necklace."
I waited for the world to explode. It was my worse case scenario. I wish it had happened. The look on my mum's face was... heartbreaking. I looked away, a guilty flush coloring my face.
"Well, have you checked your bedroom? That necklace is very important. I'll check the porch while you search your room. We got to find that necklace." I could hear the sadness in her voice, and I felt even worse.
Without answering, I rushed to my bedroom. I flung clothes that were on the floor in a pile into a new pile, hoping to hear the twinkle of metal hitting the floor. My dresser was searched next, then m,y bed, the clothes hamper, bathroom. I came up empty-handed with each new search, and even more guilty.
By dinner time, I felt too terrible to eat. My mum had loved that necklace, it was something that meant so much to how my father and her had come together. It had a sentimental value, and I had lost it. I played with the green mush on my plate- it had once been brocilli.
"Hermione," my mum called. I didn't respond. "Hermione look at me." she demanded, and I looked up through my eyelashes, keeping my head down, resembling a puppy when it knows its done something wrong. "Stop that. Stop beating yourself up over material things. Yes, the necklace meant something to me, but honey, it's not worth your happiness."
"Okay." I said quietly.
"Good, I love you and don't blame you. Now how about you take the night off from doing dishes. I saw Harry wrote you a letter, why don't you write him while your father and I clean up." she offered, smiling sweetly. My dad made a face when she mentioned him and the cleaning. I laughed internally.
"Are you sure?"
"Yep, you just relax."
I've missed you and Ronald so much! Fluer and Bill are going to have a baby? That's great news. I'm sure Mrs. Weasley is estaic about the news baby, it will be great for the whole family. Teddy will ev en have someone his age to be arounbd now.
I'm sure George will be all right someday. Has he gone back to the joke shop yet? Give him a hug from me that next time you see him. Any more details on the prank besides lame?
Please tell Ron that I'm not at all mental in any way, shape, or form. It's not my fault he can't surivive one minute without being lazy and resorting tp use magic for the simplest of tasks. I hope his summer is doiung well though. And yours for that matter. It must be nice to not have to go back to the Dursleys.
Thank you for the newspaper. You are correct, I have gone practically nutters wanting to know what's going on. Have you been back to Hogwarts at all since the rebuilding started? I think i might donate some money to the cause.
One other thing pigued my interest. I read that Malfoy had been given a free slate, other than having his wand snapped. I know it must be hard on him having to live like a muggle, but... I don't know. And now he's missing? Maybe he's just hiding from the public eye? I mean this is Malfoy, not some war victim. Maybe I'm being too harsh and prejudice again. I can't seem to get the image of his prissy git self telling me I'll be next and not the cowardly caught in the crossfires wizard he became.
Harry, you sound like a father. Sometimes it's hard to think you aren't his father because of the way you two bonded and the fact that he loves pretending he's you. I'm sure that you'll treasure every moment for what it's truly worth, and never miss a minute of his life.
I miss and love everyone! Love,
I sent the letter without checking it as Josephine was sure to have a long enough trip without me taking forever and ever on the letter. She nipped my fingers affectionaly for flying off into the horizions.
And then, as if in a dream, I saw a ship, no the ship. I shook my head, it wasn't true. There weren't supernatural cults like that, right?
The next morning I was woken up by my father. He looked ridiculous in his fishing attire, but happy, so I couldn't complain. My dad then all but forcefeed me so we could get out on the water sooner. He always acted silly when we had the chance to go somewhere like this.
No dreams haunted my sleep that I could recall. I had the feeling I had one. My brain was hurting from trying to remember to ghostly images that I was sure had appeareds last night. But alas, nothing came to mind.
We had been planning for some time to take a rowboat out and fish today. My mum and Dad were both extremely happy in a boat. It was something I never understood. They almost looked more youthful. It was crazy. It was almost as if the salty ocean air, and the dancing waves was like their personal fountain of youth.
While dad drove our quaint boat, mum and I talked about everything and anything, from movies to my newest book affiar. She called it my book affair because I would always find a book I couldn't get enough until the next great thing came to me.
I was horrid with a fishing pole. My hands got tangled up in the line, the hook would catch more debris or people than fish, so when the fishing poles were brought out, it was no surprise that mine was not among them. Instead I was to bait the hooks. Which however squimish I was, I was not terrible at. I hoped.
After five fish was caught and a multitude of bait was eaten, mum brought out the picnic basket. Chicken and avocado salad my mum's favored berry tea that me and her were addicted to, and dad's soda were pulled out along with a bowl of bannana pudding.
Just when I was about to take a bit out of my salad, cold water splashed on my face, soaking it. I looked up to see my dad chuckling at me. I knew he didn't do it, because my mum would have scolded him. Still... he laughed at me. Sneakily, I dropped my hand into the water and threw it at fast as I could in the direction if my father.
My mum shrieked in surprise and dad gave me a you didn 't look. I laughed before getting lobbed in the face with more water. My father went back and forth at it. and then we were both drenched by someone else. We both took at each other before glaring playfully at mum. She smiled innocently, and we ended up laughing like goons.
And then, like a drum cueing a frightening scene in a movie, it thundered loudly. I cringed and covered my ears at the sound. It sobered us really quick.
My mum and I put up the fishing poles up while dad began taking the boat back. One thought on all our minds, get the bloody hell out of here before it starts getting bad.
In ten minutes rain started pouring unmercifully from the heaven. If I wasn't soaked to the bone, I was now. The waves were getting wild, churning and some getting frighteningly higher and higher. I shivered at the menacing thoughts running hazardously about my mind.
On the impulse of a five year old mentality, I got up to run to the other side of the boat to hide in the shelter of my mum's arms. But I didn't make it to the other side of the boat. The boat hit a wave and I tripped and slid on the slippery surface of the boat. A scream caught somewhere deep in my throat tried to escape. The look of knowing horror in my mum's eyes as I fell overboard made it worse.
I hit the cold water on my side. The water strung feircely the places it hit first. I shivered without meaning to. My eyes scanned to the boat, but it was raining so hard and the salt was burning my eyes. I couldn't see a thing.
I tried screaming, but with all the noise from the storm, I could barely hear my own sounds of desperation.
And then, just before I gave up all hope, and closed my eyes, a halo of blonde hair and cold stone eyes flooded my vision. It's crazy what your mind thinks of in odd situations.
In the distance, a dark figure was laughing, her dark swirls flying like killer tendrils in the stormy winds. The family knew nothing of her , as they were blissfully ignorant to the oblivous. She scrunched her nose. Muggles and vampires were stupid creatures.
Yes, she had finally found her, and to her pleasure, she had found out of their child. Her master would be pleased. Very pleased.
She laughed again. The world was about to have its eyes forcefully opened wide, whether it wanted to or not.
I'm soooo sorry for not updating! School was in the way and I was having troubles with this chapter. It kpet ending up corny, so hopefully I fixed that. Tell me if I didn't though, because I'm trying to improve my writing awkward situations.
Who is it? Maybe a certain Slytrherin? ;D
