"What?! You got to be kidding me," Ginny said angrily looking at Hermione in disbelief.
"Sad to say I'm not," Hermione replied. "Ugh...Tell me how this happened." Both women walked to the couch and sat down.
"Remember the night Fred proposed to me?"
Ginny nodded intently.
"Ron looked at me in shock when I said yes to Fred. I think he also was hurt when I accepted..."
"Don't feel bad Hermione. It's Ron's fault in the first place. You're better off with Fred."
Ginny was right. She was better off with Fred. No you aren't. Destiny brought you and Ron together. You were both jealous of the other's interests; Ron was jealous of Viktor, and you were jealous of Lavender. And when you both kissed for the first time, sparks flew. The moment felt perfect. You want that again with him. Wanted. He is my past. Fred is my future. No he isn't! Ron is your future! Yeah, a future of hurt and arguments. You're wrong.... No. I'm stating the truth. With Fred, it's a future of happiness and love. Nope. You're going to be unsatisfied with your darling Fred. He never even shown interest in you. Shut up! He has...I just never paid attention. Don't kid yourself, 'Mione. You were busy paying attention to Ron. Ron and you are meant for each other.
Maybe the other voice was right... She never paid attention to Fred, only Ron. She was always arguing with Ron and jealous of Lavender when she had her lips glued to his. Maybe she should have never said yes when Fred-
"Earth to Hermione!" Ginny said loudly while waving a hand in front of the brunette's face.
"What?" Hermione noticed the hand and sat up straighter.
"You didn't answer my question. Want me to tell Ron to back off?"
Hermione bit her lip trying to decide on the answer. "Ummm..."
POP. A dark haired man with glasses entered the room. "Hey Ginny," he smiled,"Hey Hermione. Nice to see you. What's up?" "Hermione came over for some girl talk, Harry." Harry looked at them and slowly walked into the kitchen. Ginny whispered into Hermione's ear,"He does that each time I mention girl talk." Ginny giggled while Hermione rolled her eyes smiling,"The-Boy-Who-Lived can defeat the most evil wizard on earth but is scared of something simple as girl talk." "Anyways, I'm going to have a chat with Ron. He shouldn't bother you anymore now that you're happy."
"Thanks Ginny," Hermione said halfheartedly,"I gotta get back. Owl me and we'll grab some lunch."
"Ok. See you later."
Hermione disapparated out of the couple's house. Ginny was going to have a talk with Ron. "Harry, honey I'm going out for a little," she called to the kitchen. "Ok. Be back before dinner," he called back. Ginny apparated herself to Ron's home with Lavender. She walked to the door and knocked. Lavender came to the door. Before Lavender could speak a word Ginny asked,"Is my brother here?" "Yes he is. Come inside and I'll get him." Lavender and Ginny walked into the living room to see their baby boy Daniel in a cradle looking up at the ceiling. Lavender picked up Daniel and called to her husband,"Won-Won your sister is here." Ron entered the room and Ginny felt an enormous amount of rage. She saw red. Ginny remained composed. "Ron, we need to talk," Ginny told her brother,"In private." Ron walked into the kitchen with his sister and Lavender went to put Daniel in his crib. Just as Lavender was leaving, Ginny pulled out her wand and cast the Muffliato charm on Ron's wife. Before Ron could speak Ginny put her wand in her pocket again and spoke angrily,"How dare you! You've already hurt her enough. She's better off with Fred!" "She told you? What makes you think she's better off with Fred? Him and Hermione never got along," Ron started to get furious.
"Of course she told me. Fred took care of her when you left her. He made her better when you made her feel worse. I can't see why she was even with you."
"She was with me because she loves me!"
"Loved. It was in the past."
"No she still does now."
"Prove it then." Ginny crossed her arms over her chest.
"Hermione told me she loves me."
"You're lying! Just leave her alone."
With that being said Ginny stormed out of her brother's house and disapparated back to her and Harry's. She walked to the table, and summoned a quill, parchment and ink. Once seated she began her note to her best friend.
I talked to Ron. He told me you told him you love him. I can't believe he'd lie like that. I can't believe I'm related to him... How about lunch on Wednesday? Owl me back.
Ginny looked at her note and called Perseus over. "To Hermione Granger." Perseus took off with the note and began his flight to Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes.
Hermione sat down reading Ron's note to her.
How could you tell Ginny?? See me soon please. I love you.
She wanted to write him back but didn't know if she wanted to see him again. He was married for Merlin's sake! Hermione was not a home-wrecker. She folded the note and put it in her back pocket. She heard a tap on the window. She walked to the window and opened it for the owl. The owl came in and sat on the window sill. "Hello Perseus," Hermione said to the owl as she took the note and gave the owl a treat. Hermione read the note from Ginny and wrote back to her best friend. She sent the owl with her response and closed the window again. She took the note from her back pocket from Ron and pointed her wand at it. She cut the piece of paper into a million tiny pieces and sent the tiny pieces of parchment into the trash can. She smiled and sat back on the couch and began twirling her wand in her hands.
What was she going to do? She couldn't see Ron again but she wanted to. She wasn't going to leave Fred. She loved him...but a small part of her still longed for Ron. Her logic told her to stay away from Ron until she had lost all feelings of attraction towards him. A feeble amount of protest was inside her. She shut it away until further notice. Fred and George walked in the door exchanging a smile and half-smile. Hermione saw Fred's half-smile and walked over to him. Hermione put her arms around his neck. "Hey-" Fred was cut off by Hermione planting a kiss on his lips. George walked away and got some water. Fred felt Hermione shiver with pleasure. "Shall I leave you two alone?" George asked.
Fred and Hermione broke apart from their kiss. Fred's face matched his hair and he replied a little breathless,"No." Fred looked at his twin and George rolled his eyes smiling at Fred. Hermione's face was completely red and closed her eyes relaxing in her fiancé's arms. She now decided she was never going to Ronald Weasley ever again.
