Lily Evans and Amos Diggory were sitting in Three Broomsticks chatting over a glass of butterbeer. They had dated for over a month now and seemed like a perfect couple. Lily was a very pretty girl wearing a large, woolen, grey coat over a green dress. Her long, red hair was down and framing her face. Amos was one of the most handsome boys in Hogwarts with dirty-blonde hair and a face that many girls swooned over. He was dressed in a light blue polo shirt and brown pants.
They seemed very content when suddenly Amos’s face turned red and he stood up and stormed out of Three Broomsticks, chucking some notes on the table. Lily looked startled and hurriedly ran after him. ‘YOU CAN’T DO THIS TO ME! YOU CAN’T JUST LEAVE ME HERE AMOS!’ she screamed, her red hair streaming behind her.
‘WATCH ME!’ he screamed back, ‘OH AND IN CASE YOU DIDN’T REALISE, WE’RE OVER!’ he stormed out of Hogsmeade, leaving Lily alone in the middle of the street.
Lily stood still, shocked at the turn of events, staring at his retreating body. She felt like she was going to just collapse in the middle of the street and break down into tears. The sky clouded over, matching her mood and started crying big, fat raindrops. She looked up at the sky and groaned. She had no umbrella, Amos had it and she was going to have to walk in the rain. She continued staring at the heavy, grey clouds when a bright, red and gold umbrella obscured her view.
She turned around and saw James Potter, one of the most popular and handsome boys in school standing there holding an umbrella with an apologetic smile on his face. James had had a crush on Lily and had annoyed and bugged Lily for many years for her to go out with him. He was wearing some dark jeans and a simple brown long sleeved t-shirt. His hair was still the messy pile that Lily hated but for once, she didn’t mind. “Lily… are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” Lily croaked, surprised at how her voice cracked. “Just leave me alone Potter.”
“I’m not leaving you, not now, not ever.”
She was too tired to yell at him to leave and just looked down as they walked together back to Hogwarts.

A year later, James and Lily were in Three Broomsticks laughing over a cup of butterbeer. Lily was dressed in a grey overcoat and a green dress underneath. She had a Gryffindor scarf and her hair streamed down her back, ornamented with a light grey beanie. James wore a dark grey t-shirt and light jeans. His hair was still the messy pile that Lily loved. They walked out together, smiling at each other when it started to rain. Lily looked up and laughed as James got out his red and gold umbrella and held it above their heads. James smiled at Lily as he said: “I told you I’d never leave you Lily. I love you flower.” Lily smiled as she leant in for a kiss and whispered “I love you too.”
