“Damn it Snivilles. Now get out of here” I barely heard Sirius snap at Severus. Remus was the last to follow Severus as Sirius had to pull him away from where Lily and I standing half way between the castle and the lake.
“This is really unexpected James…” She whispered at me like she was cared someone would over hear her. I took a sharp breath in and got ready to run. She was going to say no, “and you know that I love you right?”
“Yeah I do but you don’t have to give me an answer right now though okay, you can sleep on it and take as mu…” She cut in stopping with what I was going to say.
“Yes.” I felt my jaw drop and my eyes widened, “My answer is so yes!” She shouted the last part so loud that the entire crowd watching us erupted with cheers and screams. Many people wolf whistled as I picked Lily up into my arms swung her around then kissed her passionately, much longer then before by the tree.
“I love you Lily Evans, soon to be Potter!” I whispered into her ear once we had broke apart. People where coming at us from all angles and I couldn’t stop smiling. I felt Lily’s hand being tugged out of mine; the one time I didn’t want to let go of her she had been pulled away from me by someone. I looked over to see that it was only Alice. She was shrieking something into Lily’s ear that was making her smile. It wasn’t long before Alice had turned to me.
“I’M SO HAPPY FOR YOU.” She shrieked and hugged me.
“Thank you Alice, I am also guessing that you were the one that organised the audience.” She smiled sheepishly at me before Frank put his hands around her waist.
“Congrats Mate!” he said before pulling her away. Seeing Frank and Alice reminded me of Lily so I turned around to grab here waist but she wasn’t there. As I looked over the heads of the crowd of people congratulating me I saw Lily running towards Sirius and Remus. I thought nothing of it and started to walk over there myself before I watched her stop in front of them and wave her arms in the air like she did when something was frustrating her. I then saw her start to walk away from them but not towards me but towards the castle. Sirius made a grab for arm but she shook it off. I was close enough now to hear what she was shouting at him.
“LET ME GO SIRIUS! You shouldn’t have let him run then I wouldn’t have to but he was my best friend, I CARE WHAT HE THINKS NO MATTER WHAT I SAY OR WHAT STATE OUR FRIENDSHIP IS IN!”
“Lily, Don’t. Not now go later he will still be around, GO LATER!” Sirius shouted after her. As I reached Remus and Sirius, Sirius had his head in his hands.
“Mate, where’d she go?” I asked him already knowing the answer though.
“I’m sorry James, really I am! I didn’t know she would react like that, she was with you and then she must have remembered what Snape said when he ran over to you guys and then she came over to us asking where he went and I told I let him run off because he looked like he was going to be sick…sorry…” I waved off his comment and motioned for him to keep explaining what I hadn’t heard. “Anyway I told her that he looked sick and she went off saying I shouldn’t have let him go, I tried to stop her I really did mate but she just kept going and didn’t say anything. I guess she’s gone to find Snape. Sorry mate”
“It’s not your fault Padfoot. Don’t worry about it, I understand that she wants to talk to him about it I mean when did he find out? I think everyone here but her knows he’s in love with her. Come on lets go warn the house elves there will be a party in the common room tonight.” We walked up slowly to the castle and down to the kitchen. I wasn’t paying attention at all while Sirius explained to the elves about the party and something about a banner, I was to busy thinking about Lily. I know that I told Sirius I was fine with it but truthfully I was hurt by the fact she left not five minutes after I asked her to marry me. She had ran after him and not told me, not even whispered a ‘be right back’ in my ear. Wasn’t this day supposed to be about each other and no one else? I couldn’t help what people would say if they found out she had ran away to talk to Severus, the rumours from 2 weeks ago would get worse, not that I cared I had dealt with the rumours my entire time at Hogwarts, but it hurt she ran to him and not stayed with me.
“Don’t tell anyone about her seeing him straight after okay? I want to know what they talked about first then I don’t care, but not yet.” I said to the boys as we exited the kitchen.
“Yeah okay.” Remus replied quietly.
“Got ya! Oi, aren’t you supposed to meeting with Dumbledore about tomorrow? You will be so late and plus Lily will be there; you know how she takes her responsibitly’s really seriously. She wouldn’t miss a meeting for him.” Sirius reminded me; by the time he had finished his sentence he was shouting coz I was running down the corridor to Dumbledore’s office.
“THANKS MATE!” I shouted over my shoulder.
I skidded to a stop in front of Dumbledore’s office and gave the password (Lollypops). I climbed the steps, waited two seconds to catch my breath then knocked.
“Come In.” I heard Dumbledore’s voice from behind the door and pushed the door open. I was surprised as I scanned the room for Lily I didn’t see her, Lily never misses a meeting, she would never let Dumbledore down and I was late to this meeting. Where is she?
“Ah James, I expected Lily to arrive first. Or your two together because I believe Congratulations are in order, I expect I will be getting an invite.” He scanned me over the top of his half-moon glasses and smiled at me to show he was kidding.
“Sorry sir but I don’t know where she is, I am usually the late one.” I looked over my shoulder at the door as I sat down. “How did you know? Or is that a silly question?”
“It’s not a silly question at all dear boy but I believe you and Lily made quite a riot on the grounds when you asked her. Most of the teachers informed me about it and in fact Professor McGonagall was in tears when she did. Evidentially you might be her favourite student after all these years James.” Another smile at me as I looked over my shoulder again, she was really late and now I was worried.
