“Oh there he goes again Audrey,” Audrey’s workmate, Zooey, commented from behind a plot of Gardenia’s. Audrey jumped up from behind the counter and watched as his coat rounded the corner. Darn, she had missed him. Again. “Ah well, he’ll come along tomorrow, and the day after that, and the day after that, and pretty much every day until the world implodes. Actually, I think he’d still walk past this store even if the world had imploded,” Zooey said, “why don’t you talk to him?” she demanded. “I mean, it’s obvious you like him—beyond obvious actually, and it’s obvious he likes you: go out, have fun and have lots of fun along the way.” Audrey shook her head at her best friends little speech.

“Maybe…” Audrey replied wistfully, returning to her job behind the counter. The bell chimed and both women looked up. “Hello, how can I help you?” Audrey asked automatically as the redhead walked to the counter. He looked flustered and very stressed. “Ah, mother, girlfriend or sister?” she asked. Audrey knew that look, it was the “I’m-really-slack-and-forgot-my-(insert name here)-birthday,” look. Both Audrey and Zooey saw that look on a daily basis, though not usually this early in the morning.

“I beg your pardon?” the redhead exclaimed. He dismissed his question with a wave of his hand. “I need your best flowers, you see, I’m proposing to my girlfriend tonight; I had everything planned precisely and then this morning, I realized I had forgotten flowers!” he tried to laugh at his stupid mistake and Audrey pretended to laugh as well.

“Aw, you’re proposing that’s so sweet!” Audrey exclaimed, clapping her hands together. “I love making engagement bouquets. Now, let’s see what we have,” she stepped around the counter and began to walk through the store; her fingers brushing along each plant. “Where there any flowers you wanted in particular? Please don’t say red roses, they are tacky and awful, sometimes I want to shoot the person who said they were romantic,” Audrey vented slightly.

“No,” the redhead said awkwardly; trailing behind Audrey. “Just any flowers you pick should suffice,”

Smiling, Audrey began to mumble to herself; or maybe she was muttering to the flowers, no one in the shop knew. “You could have the yellow Daffodils, it symbolizes chivalry; the Gardenia’s would be amazing! They symbolize purity and say, you’re lovely; the Honeysuckle means the bond of love and it would look brilliant in the bouquet; and of course you simply cannot have a wedding bouquet without Primroses! You see, Primroses are often overlooked by the red roses—which are dull and cliched, the Primrose means I can’t live without you.” Audrey gathered all her flowers up and walked back to the counter. “Am I allowed to inquire about the fiancé? Well, almost fiancé,” Audrey asked politely as she wrapped the flowers in a neat bundle.

The redhead’s cheek went as red as his hair. “Oh, she’s brilliant; her name’s Penelope Clearwater and we’ve been dating since school,”

“Ah, high school sweethearts,” Audrey swooned.

“Yes, I suppose you could say that,” the redhead mused. “Pen is great and I’ve been wanting to propose for months now but never actually sucked up the courage, but my little brother just got married to his girlfriend so I thought, ‘why the hell not?’ and now I’m going to propose. I just pray to God she says yes,” he sounded nervous. Audrey finished wrapping the flowers and handed them to the redhead.

“Well, it sounds like you’ll make a perfect couple.” She assured him. “Now that’s £25,” the redhead mumbled something under his breath and pulled out a wallet. He pulled out a coin, examined it with a confused face and put it back in the wallet. Zooey stared at Audrey and raised an eyebrow, Audrey shook her head in confusion. “Do you need any help Sir?” Audrey asked politely.

“Yes, I would,” he said, handing Audrey his wallet. She pulled out a £20 and £5 note. “Thank you,” he grumbled when Audrey handed him his wallet back.
Audrey smiled. “Now, I’ll need your name, address and phone number,” she said, typing on her computer. Zooey opened her mouth to say something but Audrey cut her off. “It’s for… Customer service, you see.”

The redhead raised an eyebrow but obliged, “I don’t have a felephone number,” he explained when he had given her his address, (Audrey didn’t have the heart to correct him) “and my name is Percy Weasley,”

“Well, it’s great to meet you Percy, my name is Audrey Scrimgeour,” Percy took a step back but said nothing. “Please come again and good luck with your proposal,” Audrey smiled. “Let me know how it goes,”

After Percy left, Zooey walked up to Audrey. “Really Audrey, a Weasley? And since when did we have ‘customer service’?” Audrey smiled wistfully and waltzed around the shop, sniffing the occasional flower. “Oh Merlin, she’s lost it. I guess it could have been worse; it could have been Malfoy,”

A/N: Ariellem has got me hooked on this pairing! She really did; she writes awesome stories you should really check them out!

Anyway, I plan to make this story about two - three chapters. It will only be short snippets of their relationship :) Let's just hope that I can get this story finished (unlike all my others WIPs) :D
