Background:   Font color:

Hermione, Malfoy and Professor McGonagall made their way up the moving staircases towards the heads dorm.   Hermione’s heart fluttered as they walked in silence, her head was full of so many thoughts it was hard to make sense of any of it.

OMG I am going to be head girl!

Why Malfoy had to be Head boy, he was ordered to kill Dumbledore!

Hermione Jean Granger you need to be considerate to others! No matter what Malfoy has done you have to respect his final view.

Yeah…  OMG I'm head girl, somebody has recognised what I do for this place!

Just shut up and remember how to get there first!

Hermione drifted out of her daydream pretty quickly but something was bothering her, she felt… As if someone was staring at her. Her eyes wandered towards the opposite side of the staircase where she saw Malfoy staring at her, not in the usual way…

Draco looked away when he saw Granger looking. She had caught his eye when she had been staring off into space. He hadn’t noticed how cute she looked when she was thinking, the way her eyebrows slightly arched when she was concerned and how she didn’t flick of an stray pieces of hair that fell across her face. It was a passing thought but was interrupted when she caught him looking. He shouldn’t be thinking about her, about how her eyes sparkled when…. No, Draco Malfoy would not think about a Mudblood. He just had to remember the way to the dorm as McGonagall didn’t seem to want to slow down.

It had seemed like they had only been walking for a short time until they reached the portrait that lead into the Heads dorm. It was a collection of the Headmasters that had ever been in Hogwarts. In front was Dumbledore who greeted Professor McGonagall before turning to Hermione and Malfoy. “ Now, here is a list of all the passwords to the common rooms and a list of other useful rooms as well,” Professor McGonagall said as she handed a envelope to Hermione, “ Also, in there is a list of the duties you have and your new timetables. Please enjoy your year as heads.” And with that, Professor McGonagall left swiftly.

“Open the envelope then.” Malfoy grunted to Hermione. She opened the letter and got out the long list of passwords. It didn’t take very long to find the password as it was the first one on the list. Hermione had to smile at the amount of organisation that had gone into this. “House equality.” Hermione said in a clear voice to the portrait. “Correct! Please enter Miss Granger and Mr Malfoy.” Dumbledore said to the pair of them. Malfoy felt awkward as he tried not to look into the eyes of his former headmaster. He didn’t want to bring up that memory… Not again.

It was perfect; there was nothing that could’ve compared to the beauty of this dorm. Both Hermione and Malfoy were speechless.  Cream walls surround this hug room with a sofa for two and a sofa for six! Armchairs were scattered around the room and a blazing fireplace was sitting in the corner. Two staircases were right in front of them and at the top a golden plate was hung over each staircase: To the left: Draco Malfoy and to the right: Hermione Granger. A bathroom lead off near the fireplace. Hermione was the first to come out of the trance  and wander around, a grin never left her face as she spied a writing desk sitting next to a large window. The scene over looked the black lake which was reflecting the last rays of light from the sun. Draco went straight up to his room and didn’t come out for 2 hours. In that time Hermione had gone up to her room to find a golden and red room with a midnight blue ceiling with sliver stars that twinkled whenever they hit the light. Her clothes where all put away and organised by the house elves. Hermione's life couldn’t be more perfect. For the moment.

Malfoy had to get out of that room. His head had thought of something, something that if Draco Malfoy had been feeling normal. He thought, well it was only a thought, that Hermione had looked cute. The last bit of light and shimmered around her as she gazed out the window. He felt as if he should’ve gone and put his arm around her waist and gazed out the window with her. That’s just bloody ridiculous! This is Granger, a Mudblood and a Gryffindor.  Malfoy had then decided to make his way up to his room and stay there until he had cleaned his head of *Shudders* Granger.  It had been at least a couple of hours before he was sure that those thoughts had left him. He walked down the staircase to see Hermione curled up in ball by the fire, reading a book.  Typical Granger.  She was on the sofa and he strolled over and sat next to her.

Hermione looked up from her book to see Malfoy sitting next to her. That git! Why can’t he sit somewhere else?! I don’t care how the light from the fire is reflecting of his muscles and shimmering on his hair. Wait… Did I just say that?! No Hermione get a grip.  She snuck a sneaky glance at him, he was staring into the fire and looked as if he was about to cry. “Malfoy… Draco are you ok.” Hermione asked nudging him slightly.

“I'm… I'm ok, yeah I'm fine. Hey, why did you call me Draco?” Malfoy asked looking confused. Hermione blushed slightly “Umm… Draco is your name right? Anyway I'm going to bed night Draco.” She got up and walked past her, she smelled of roses and Draco couldn’t help but inhale the fragrant scent. “Night… Hermione.” Draco replied to her. Hermione looked round and smiled at him before making her way into the bathroom. Draco sighed and sunk deeper into the sofa. For now he would be happy in his thoughts.  Tomorrow, well he’ll see if remember tomorrow.
