“Just tell me one thing,” says Harry, grinning. “I promise I won’t laugh.”
I roll my eyes, and swat him playfully. “Of course you’ll laugh. I’d laugh too,” I say, downing the last sip of Butterbeer.
It won’t stop raining outside. Dark clouds cover the sky, and just a second ago I heard thunder. A lot of people might find it a bit scary, but I kind of like it. Well, I like the view from the phone booth that Harry and I are stuck in.
We didn’t plan on being stuck, though we did risk it. “We were among the few brave souls still out and about when the rains began, and then it turned into a downpour. When it got so heavy we couldn’t see where we were going, I bumped into a phone booth and we ducked inside. And now, we are stuck.”
“Come on, just tell me one thing that you have never told me, and I’ll tell you something of mine,” says Harry, his forehead leaning against mine.
“Nope,” I tease, grinning. “And that look your giving me isn’t going to help.”
“Ah well,” says Harry, smiling. “A bloke can try right? Be warned though, I don’t give up easily.”
“I know you don’t,” I whisper, brushing a strand of hair away. “That’s one of the reasons why I love you.”
“Not because of my amazing good looks and charming personality?” asks Harry, pretending to look offended.
I giggle while swatting him again. “I love you for loads of reasons. There are just a few I’d rather to keep to myself,” I reply.
Harry shakes his head. “Didn’t anyone ever teach you to share?”
I laugh, and shake my head.
“No?” says Harry, before I can even answer. “Well sharing is when a guy who’s madly in love with you asks you to tell him one thing about you that you’ve never told him. You tell him because you love him back, and you want to make him happy.”
“I thought sharing was letting other kids use your toys on the playground?” I say, raising my eyebrows and trying not to laugh.
“No, that’s stupid kind of sharing. You don’t have to worry about that,” says Harry, looking so serious it makes me burst into another fit of laughter.
“Oh, and the other kind of sharing isn’t stupid at all?” I ask, giving him a weird look.
“No it’s not,” says Harry, as he puts his arms around me. “I’m just asking you tell me one thing, just one and it can be whatever you want.”
“Why do you want to know so much?” I ask, throwing my hands up in the air, hitting them on the phone as I do so. “I’m not that interesting.”
“Do you want me to go on about how that is so not true?” asks Harry, giving me a look. “Because I can if you want me too.”
I give him a look in return. “No you don’t have to, I-”
“Ok that means you want me too,” interrupts Harry. “Well let’s see, first of all you’re rather amazing. Second-”
“Harry!” I cry, laughing. “That’s not…that doesn’t…just why do you want to know? And don’t give me this cute little line that makes me want snog you. Answer truthfully.”
“Can I just say that it’s not my fault my lines, which I truly mean, make you want to snog me?” says Harry, pretending to look serious before cracking a smile. “Which I wouldn’t mind if you did.”
I swat him again, biting my lip to hide my smile. “Just tell me why, will you? And stop dilly-dallying.”
“Why? I like dilly-dallying. Dilly-dally, dilly-dally,” says Harry in a sing-song voice.
“Now you’re just trying to annoy me,” I say, giving him a look.
“A bit,” says Harry, grinning like mad. “I’ll always love you, though.”
I sigh, shaking my head at his hopeful smile. “You know that sometimes you drive me nuts? I’ll always love you, too, though.”
“Well, sometimes you drive me nuts,” Harry murmurs, raising his eyebrows.
“What did you say?” I ask, mocking disbelief.
“Nothing,” says Harry quickly.
We both look at each other and burst into laughter. It may not have been the world’s funniest thing, and I’ll admit it’s cheesy, but that’s just us. We laugh over stupid things, we tease each other, and apparently we drive each other nuts.
We’re happy though, “we’re cramped into a freezing phone booth with no room to sit, and the rain has only gotten harder.”
“For heaven’s sake, why couldn’t the rain just stop for two seconds so we can get out of here and Apparate some place dry?” I ask, trying to look outside.
You can’t Apparate in muggle phone booths, or anyplace that doesn’t have a magic trace on it. Pretty much puts the saying magic leave traces in place.
“Beats me,” says Harry, shrugging. “If it doesn’t stop, or at least slow down, we’ll try running for it.”
“Alright,” I say, leaning against the booth. “So anyway, are you ever going to answer my question?” I ask, raising my eyebrows.
Harry pauses for a minute. “I don’t know why I want to know. I think it’s probably because I want to know everything about you. Maybe because they way you’re acting makes me think I should be worried. And most definitely, it’s just because I love you.”
I take his hands, pulling him closer to me, and kiss him. Harry’s arms go around my waist and I wrap mine around his neck. His fingers graze the bare skin that is between my shirt and my jeans, and he is driving me completely wild, which I am sure is part of his plan.
“I’m guessing you’re not going to give up on asking, are you?” I ask, giving him an exasperated smile.
“Well, you said yourself it’s one of the reasons you love me,” says Harry, grinning with his eyebrows raised in that way I find kind of sexy.
“That’s it! That’s the thing I never ever would tell you!” I cry, throwing my hands up, and hitting them against the phone again. I really need to stop doing that.
“What?” asks Harry, looking confused. “I don’t get it.”
“When you raise your eyebrows like that, I kind of find it sexy,” I murmur, shrugging while trying to act nonchalant.
“Really?” asks Harry, looking surprised. “That was the thing that you would have never told me?”
“You said to give you one example, not all of them,” I tease, smirking to myself.
Harry notices the smirk, and pulls me closer to him. “You want to know mine?” he whispers, making me feel as though I’m a snowman living on the sun.
“Yeah, what’s yours?” I ask, my thumb tracing over his hand.
“I have this desire to always be around you,” says Harry very softly in my ear. “It’s a bit crazy, but you make me happy.”
“I love you Harry, and I face the same desire every day,” I tell him sincerely.
“Admit it, you find me irresistible,” he says, folding his arms across his chest, and leaning back against the booth.
I roll my eyes, and swat him for what feels like the hundredth time that day, but I can’t stop smiling. “You are so…” I search to find the right word.
“Gin, I know what you’re going to say, and I agree with you. I am so in love with you, and even though I drive you nuts fifty percent of the time, you’re still the best thing that has ever happened to me,” says Harry, grinning.
“How is it,” I ask in amazement, “you always know what to say?”
Harry shrugs, and gives me a small smile. “I don’t, but I do try.”
“Well, that’s another reason why I love you,” I reply, leaning up to kiss him.
“Oi!” says someone from the outside. “Open up!”
I open up the door of the phone booth. It’s still pouring outside, and the guy looks drenched.
“Are you Miss Weasley?” he asks, scanning me. “A mother called the Auror office saying that a Ginny Weasley and some guy were missing. So are you Ginny Weasley?”
I don’t need to think twice. I can finally get out of here, I can finally get warm, and I can finally get dry. I glance at Harry, and think about the past thirty minutes in that crappy phone booth.
“No, I’m not,” I say, giving the man a confused look. “I’m not sure who you’re talking about.”
Out of the corner of my eye, I can see Harry leaning against the booth with a huge smile on his face. He’s right. I do find him irresistible, but I probably won’t admit that today. I’ll save it for another rainy day.
