The whistle of the trains pierced the air, steam filled the sky. I was so worried so anxious about being a new student. Having to try and get along with people that had been here for years. My name is Scarlett Delacourt, transferred two months ago from Beurbaxtons.
I couldn’t wait to see Harry!! The only person I actually know, we met years ago. The Dudleys adopted me a couple of years ago, but they kicked me out after finding out “what” I was… I hadn’t seen him since, the sustain was killing me. I walked to platform nine, staring at the wall contently. Platform nine and three quarters inches away I took a couple of steps beck, making sure I didn’t run into anyone. Quickening my pace I began to run, straight to the solid brick wall. I awaited compact I waited for the pain. But instead of crashing into the wall, I went through it. I slowly opened my eyes to find many people rushing past me to get to their platforms. The place was hectic as I rushed through crowds of people before reaching the train.
Hogwarts express was written on the front in big letters, the front was painted a glossy red. The rest of the train was black apart from a few bits of red here and there. It screeched to a stop, a loud shriek coming from the whistle signalling everyone to climb aboard.
Pushes and shoves emanated from everywhere, from all those trying to get onto the train. I fell with all my belongings coming with me, nobody offered assistance. I held my knee it was grazed, the blood leaked into my hands. I crouched trying to pick up my things, when out of nowhere a friendly hand appears to help me up. I took it unknowingly as I got to my feet.
I glanced at the friendly face, who had the decency to lend me a hand. A familiar friendly face came into view. “HARRY!!” I screamed as loudly as I could, many people turned around to see the commotion. He chuckled before I wrapped him in a tight embrace, I couldn’t believe after all these years... “Good to see you too Scarlett. His voice gentle and kind as always, we pulled away and began to walk to the train. “How are things?” He asked curiously “not bad you?” I replied. He shrugged, we placed our bags near the closest compartment and took our seats.
I was greeted by a red headed boy and a pretty girl with frizzy hair. Former friends of Harry’s, Hermione Granger and Ronald Weasley. We all found many intriguing things to chat about while awaiting our arrival. As well as Ron stuffing his face with anything he could buy from the trolley. In a couple of hours Hogwarts came into view, it was the most beautiful sight to behold. The sunset just hidden by the thick grey castle walls. The lake surrounding the school lined with gorgeous forests, but words could not describe it. After leaving the train we were all placed into boats before making our way to the school.
I was welcomed by Professor McGonagall and was separated from the others, after explaining rules and what not she led me to a huge door. It opened revealing four extremely long tables all embroidered with different colours. Yellow, Green, Blue and Red, it was a large room prettily lit candles illuminated the hall. I walked steadily behind the professor as I was led in front of everyone. There was a stool and on it sat a brown wrinkled hat, I took a seat and the hat was placed on my head. It spoke hoarsely concentrating hard “cunning and brave yet conniving and devious…” everyone concentrated hard on the worn out old hat. The headwear gasped loud enough to hear, I cringed. His voice came into a whisper aimed at me “cannot be…” I closed my eyes tightly “please don’t…I…I am not him”. The hat thought long and hard “very well…better be in…
My muscles tightened…awaiting and answer.
