It was around noon when Petunia Evans knocked on the door of the Burrow. Her son was close behind, looking excited. A rather plump and short woman pulled open the door. She had brown eyes and red hair that hung around her shoulders. Overall, she looked like a mother- one that had gone though troubles. Petunia smiled warmly, trying her best not to rush past her to see her nephew.
“Hello, Mrs. Weasley. Thank you so much for allowing me to visit Harry,” she greeted politely, “My name is Petunia Evans, and this is my son, Dudley Dursley.”
Mrs. Weasley smiled, and shook her hand, then Dudley’s.
“It’s my pleasure. My name is Molly Weasley. Harry’s outside with my daughter Ginny at the moment… they should be back in a moment or two. Please, come in,” Mrs. Weasley greeted.
“Thanks, Mrs. Weasley,” Dudley said. All three of them say at the large table, and made small chat. True to Mrs. Weasley’s words, two teens came through the back door laughing. Petunia gasped once Harry came into sight.
He looked much older, and had many new scars that his blue t-shirt didn’t cover. With the exception of the scars and the green eyes, he looked exactly like his father, James. But that wasn’t the only thing that surprised Petunia. He was actually laughing. The way he looked at the girl who was walking along side of him was full of love. They sat down at the table across from each other, still smiling.
“Hello, Ms. Evans, Dudley. My name is Ginny Weasley. I’m Harry’s g-“ she stopped for a moment and corrected herself, “friend. It’s a pleasure to meet both of you,” she stretched her hand across the table and shook both Petunia’s and Dudley’s hand, then placed it back on Harry’s elbow.
“Lovely to meet you, Ginny.” Petunia smiled.
“The same thing she said,” Dudley said, blushing. Ginny smiled a radiant smile at Dudley, and then looked at Harry expectedly.
“Hello, Aunt Petunia, Dudley. Nice seeing you again,” Harry greeted curtly, looking extremely hesitant. There was an awkward silence at the table in which Dudley cleared his throat twice.
“You look so much like your father, Harry,” Petunia admitted, surprising Harry. “Except for your eyes. You have-“
“Lily’s eyes. My mothers. I get that a lot.” Harry smirked.
“I have to say something,” Petunia said, looking at Mrs. Weasley, Harry, and Ginny, “To all of you. First of all, Harry.” She gulped, and smiled at the boy across the table. “I’m sorry about everything I said to you… everything I did. I should’ve treated you much better - you deserved it. And you already had enough hardship… my mind was clouded by my husband’s opinions-and my jealousy about Lily. I’m sorry that I had to take that out on you.”
Her words made Harry drop his gaze to the table. Petunia waited for a moment, but he stayed silent.
“Next, Ginny. I know I’ve just met you, but I already owe you so much. I can see that you make Harry happy, even if you are just friends.” Petunia smiled, and then turned towards Mrs. Weasley, who looked solemn.
“You have been the mother Harry always needed. I wasn’t there for him when he was going through everything- every rough spot there was, and you were still taking care of him. Treating him like a son. I don’t think you’ll ever know how grateful I am to you for that.” Petunia finished. “Dudley would you like to add something?” she turned to her son. Dudley nodded slowly.
“Harry… I’ve missed you. And I hope that we can see each other soon.”
A/N: Okay, I know that this is a short chapter, but I could feel that I needed to write it… I think that this chapter shows a lot about Petunia’s feelings and how she acted towards Harry. Anyway, thanks for reading and please review!!!! ~Magicalis Writer
