AtomicPanda- Thanks again for an awesome CI!

I curled up on the couch nearest the fire, one of my favourite books in my hand.

I had spent the day trying to comfort April and now finally she had fallen asleep in my bed, her tears eventually running dry.

It turns out Fred Weasley is the worlds biggest arse. Ever.

During the summer holidays he and the boys had gone to a muggle club. As usual, they had gotten totally pissed and had started chatting up various girls. Fred had met a witch there, a Ravenclaw in the year below. A conversation had started and one thing led to another and they ended up in bed together.

April had found out from one of the girls friends. Turns out most of the sixth years were talking about her.

That’s why April and Fred had been fighting. When Fred told me, I barley managed to stop from hexing him. In fact I’m fairly sure had Ryan not grabbed my wand arm, I would have.

I sighed and through my book down on the floor. There was no point trying to read when I felt so bad for April.

Paige had left an hour ago for bed and James was off patrolling. That left me alone with my depressed best friend.

Out of all four of the boys, only Liam had had the decency to see if April was okay. Apparently, none of them had known Fred had slept with the sixth year until after April had found out and confronted them.

“Why do men have to be such prats!” I said out loud to no-one.

“As a man, I take huge offence to that.”

I fell off the couch in fright and spun round to see James yawning in the doorway.

“Why the hell are you sneaking up on me, you complete arsehole!” I shouted, grabbing a pillow and throwing it at his head.

“What put you in such a shit mood?” he said, rubbing his head.

“Mmm, maybe it was the fact that thanks to your idiot of a cousin I’ve spent the day trying to comfort my totally crushed best friend!”

I was getting more pissed off and with every second wanted to throw something else at James’ handsome face.

He must have been able to see what I was feeling because he put his hands up and said, “I’ll just be going to shower now..” and he walked off towards the bathroom leaving me fuming.

I watched as he gently closed the bathroom door, then felt a horrible wave of nausea come over me.

I ran towards the bathroom door but before I had even knocked, I knew that I wasn’t going to be sick. And I also knew that there was no way I could stop the Vision.

The shadow of a flame flickered on the wall, casting a ghostly glow round the room.

“It will soon be time to set our plans into place,” a cold voice spoke from the corner of the room, his face invisible in the shadows.

“Potter will feel the pain he inflicted on us all those years ago. We will rise again…”

It didn’t last long, but I was shaking horribly and was covered in a cold sweat. As if from the end of a long tunnel I could hear someone saying my name, but I had to focus on what I had seen.

Someone was planning something that would hurt Harry Potter. I recognised the voice, but couldn’t place it. Also that person’s plans would be starting soon. Which must mean that I was somehow supposed to stop this from happening.

Eventually, I opened my eyes. James’ face swam into few, and I felt the world spinning.

“Jen? Are you okay? Do you want me to get help?” he said urgently. His voice sounded panicked and I felt bad for worrying him.

“No, I’m fine. I just need a minute.”

I pushed myself up and moved towards the couch. I stumbled and began to fall, only to be caught by James.

“What the hell happened there?” he said the moment I had sat down.

“Sorry, I just felt a bit sick. I fainted. That’s all.”

He looked at me suspiciously and looked like he was going to push me when April appeared at my bedroom door.

“Jenny? What happened? I heard banging.”

“Nothing, April, just go back to sleep,” I smiled at her reassuringly. She glanced between me and James, her eyes widening, then closed the door again.

It was then I realised James was only wearing a towel.

I had to bite my lip to stop me from gasping. His chest was perfect. Toned and tanned with just enough muscle.

My heart rate sped up and I wondered how James Potter managed to have this effect on my heart.

“I’m just going to sleep now,” I muttered, lowering my sore body onto the couch. I must have hit the door on the way down, I thought.

“Why are you sleeping out here?” James asked, refusing to move.

“Because, April needs my bed more than me tonight.”

“Well, then you can sleep in my room and I’ll sleep here.”

I gaped at him. “James, you can’t be serious, it’s a Saturday night and you like a lie-in on Sunday mornings.”

“You need it more than me. Just take the bed or I will sleep on the floor in protest!”

I laughed at his stubborn face and nodded. I picked up my book and started to walk away.

I reached the door and turned back to James.

“Thank you, James. I didn’t really mean what I said about all men being prats. At least there are a few exceptions.”

I turned, leaving him shocked and threw myself into James’ room.

I rolled over in bed, stretching my arms above me. I looked around and the events of the day before came flooding back

James’ room was bright and colourful, covered in Gryffindor flags and hangings. On the bed side table, pictures of his family and friends stood scattered around. I smiled at one with all of the Potter family in it. James must have been about 10 and he grinned at the camera while slinging his arm lazily around Albus’s shoulder. Behind them stood Mr and Mrs Potter, beaming down at their children. In the front, Lily sat on the ground, gazing up at her family.

I was shocked to see a picture of me towards the back. I picked it up and looked down at myself. I must have been 16 or 17. My red hair was out and cascading down my back in waves. I had a book in my hands and was obviously trying to read but every minute or so I would glance up at the camera, a small smile reaching my emerald eyes.

BANG. I was on my feet in 2 seconds and running out the door.

The scene before me made me double over with laughter.

April was pointing her wand at James while attempting to cover her eyes. James was standing totally naked in the middle of the room, with only a pillow to cover his manhood.

“Why are you naked!” I choked out between laughs.

“Because you were in my bedroom with my pyjamas!”

“You could have come in and got them!”

“You were sleeping! I didn’t want to bother you!”

I stopped short. That was uncharacteristic of James. Or would have been if we hadn’t been getting on so well lately.

“Just go and get some clothes on now!” I smiled as he edged round the room.

I glanced at April and wished I hadn’t. Her eyes were red and her skin red and blotchy. I walked forward and wrapped my arms around her waist.

“How you feeling, honey?” I said, pulling out of our hug.

“Like going to sleep and never waking up would be a good thing.”

“April, don’t say that! He’s just a boy!”

“You don’t understand, its more than that…”

I looked at her oddly. Even if she thought Fred was the love of her life, she would have just said it. April liked drama and attention- even when she was in pain.

“April, c’mon, you can tell me anything- you know that!”

She hesitated a moment and then sunk onto the couch, sobbing, her hands falling to her stomach.

And then it clicked.

“You’re pregnant!” I gasped, staring at her.

Her sobbing got harder and I took that for a yes.

I couldn’t speak. I mean, April could be reckless. Very reckless. But pregnant. That was so out of character even for her. I slipped down next to her.

“How long?” I whispered.

“I don’t know. Two months?” I looked at her tear filled eyes, and let out a sigh.

“Why didn’t you just tell me?” I asked.

“Because I didn’t want you to be ashamed of me.” She lowered her eyes and let her tears fall into her lap.

“April, I could never be ashamed of you! I mean, I’m a little worried about you, but nothing else!”

She looked up at me and smiled a watery smile. “Can you please help me?”

She asked the question like a little kid would ask a grown-up for help on their homework.

“Of course! Who else knows?” I asked.

“Just you.”

“What about Fred? He has the right to know.” I looked at her. If I was honest, I hadn’t really expected her to have told Fred. She just looked at me and said in her smallest voice.

“I just want to keep this between us at the moment.”

“Have you seen Madam Pomfrey yet? Your going to have to get checked out.”

She looked at me sheepishly and I guessed she hadn’t been to see her yet.

“Tell you what, go get dressed and we can go together.”

Terror filled her eyes and she began to shake her head.

“April, if you want things to get better, you need to start helping yourself.”

“Okay, but if she puts anything cold near me, I swear I’ll scream!”

I laughed as April walked out the door, then had a thought.

“April, I just wanted to tell you something. I think I’m in love with Hagrid!”

James’ door flew open and he fell onto the floor. I smirked at him.

“Eavesdropping where we?”

He looked sheepish and stood up. He was dressed now, wearing a pair of jeans and a t-shirt.

“I wouldn’t have listened if I had known what she was going to say!”

“Say one word to anyone- especially your cousin- and I swear you won’t be able to have children!” I smiled evilly at him and skipped into my room…

I walked down the corridor quickly, rushing to get to the Hospital Wing. I was supposed to meet April there in five minutes and at this rate I was going to be late.

I turned my head and sighed.

“Al, I’m sorry, I can’t talk- I’m in a bit of a rush,” I kept walking, but Albus easily caught up with me.

“I’ve just got this note to give you,” he grabbed my hand and pulled me round to look at him.

Albus was a prefect so when he handed me the note I knew it would be something to do with my head duties.

“Thanks!” I started to walk away, but Albus just started walking with me.

“So, where are you heading?”

“Just to meet April,” I said, trying to show him that I was busy.

He looked at me for a second then seemed to catch on.

“Right, cool, Well I’ll see you later then!” And he turned and walked back the way we’d just come. Albus Potter really confuzzled me sometimes!

I turned down towards the Hospital Wing and opened the note. It was from McGonagall suggesting that me and James started organising a Christmas Ball.

I rolled my eyes and tucked the parchment into my pocket. What she really meant was- Jenny, you need to start organising the Christmas Ball.

I turned another corner and came face to face with April who was bouncing around looking extremely nervous.

“Where have you been? If we wait any longer, she will murder me!”

I laughed lightly and ignored April, pushing the Hospital door open.

Madam Pomfrey was standing near a bed with a screen next to it.

“Aah, Miss Rivers, do you want to get yourself comfortable on the bed?”

April cast me an evil look then settled down on the bed.

“I’ll just wait out here…” I muttered as Madam Pomfrey said: “Now this will be a little chilly!”…

“How did it go?” I asked April as she emerged from the Hospital Wing 30 minutes later.

She had a strange look on her face and was gently stroking her stomach.

“Great. Really great. I’m fine. The babies fine.”

Then she looked up at me a huge grin on her face.

“I’m going to be a mummy!”

I had to admit that idea worried me a little, but I grinned back at her anyway.

“Are you going to tell Fred then?” I asked as we walked back towards the Great Hall were dinner was about to begin.

“No! If I never have to talk to that arse again it will be to soon!”

“April, you’ll have to tell him eventually, he has a right to know…”

“I know and I will tell him. Just not yet. Not when I’m happy.”

I smiled at her reassuringly.

“What about Paige?” I asked her, wondering if our other best friend would be allowed in on her secret.

“I suppose. I can tell her tonight.” I smiled again.

“Smells like roast beef!” I grinned at April, whose pace instantly picked up towards the Great Hall.

“James! We’re supposed to be going on patrols! Hurry Up!” I yelled as James ran around like a headless chicken trying to find his wand.

“I’m sure I left it here!” He shouted from the bathroom.

“Tell you what, I’ll just start off the patrol myself. I’ll see you in a bit!” I shouted as I heard a bang from the direction of the empty bath.

I walked out and headed towards the trophy room. Most of the meetings that went on after curfew happened there as it was quite far away from the Dormitories.

I lit my wand as the passages got darker and I explored the most disused corridors.

As I got further away from the main castle, it got more silent and I got more worried. Hogwarts was never this silent.

I passed through the trophy room. The trophies glinted as I cast my wand light over them. I was just about to leave and go find James when I heard the door close at the other end of the room.

I turned, but saw no-one. I walked quickly towards the other door and that slammed shut too.

My heartbeat sped up as I heard footsteps.

Suddenly, strong arms wound around me and a hand clamped down on my mouth.

Someone muttered a spell and I felt my body go floppy.

I was carried out of the trophy room. I tried to scream out but it was like all of my energy was gone.

Finally, I was put down. I glanced around and glared at my captors.

Drake Wood, Scorpius Malfoy stood in front of me and 2 other Slytherins I didn’t know the names of were standing around the room.

“What the hell do you think your doing!” I jumped up and made straight for Wood.

“Give me back my wand and you might live to see tomorrow,” I said.

“Its you that should be worrying about seeing tomorrow,” Malfoy muttered, an evil look on his face.

Suddenly, a spell hit my face. It was white hot and made my head spin to the side. I raised my hand and felt blood trickling down my cheek.

“We know what you can do,” Wood said, starting to circle me. “And we know that whether you know it or not, you will ruin our master’s plans.”

Malfoy shot him a look, but said nothing.

“Take this as your warning. Interfere and we will destroy you.”

He raised his wand and brought it down, saying the word I had never heard directed at me in my life.

Pain shot through my body and a scream escaped my lips. It didn’t last long, but I was left panting on the floor.

I don’t know what other spells they used. I blanked out. Eventually, I felt myself fly through the air and smash against the opposite wall. My head cracked against it and I felt more of my warm blood spill into my hair.

“This is your warning. Though, I suppose if you die now, it saves us the hassle of killing you later.”

I heard them walk across the room and leave, closing the door behind them.

I couldn’t move. My body felt heavy and I had defiantly broken at least one bone. My only hope was calling for help.

I shouted a few times before I lost the last of my energy.

My eyes were beginning to close when I heard the door reopen.

James voice was like that of an angels.

“Oh, god. Jen, can you hear me?”

I nodded lightly.

“I’m going to get help,” he said, starting to move away.

“No!” my voice cracked as I spoke.

“Jen. I can heal you, I know the spells, but what if I hurt you?”

“I trust you,” I whispered.

Our eyes met and he pulled out his wand and began to cast the spells.

Eventually, I felt well enough to sit up.

“What the hell happened?” James asked when he was sure I was okay.

I ignored him and stood up, stumbling into James as my head spun.

“Nothing. I fell.”

I had to lie to him. James was hardly going to sit back and let the Slytherins attack people.

“Yeah, right. Your covered in cuts and bruises. Your head was spit open and Merlin knows what else was broken. That doesn’t just happen by falling.”

I looked at his concerned face.

“I just want to go to bed, James. I’ll tell you when we get back to the dorm.”

He cast me a suspicious look, but helped me walk back to the head dorms anyway. He kept trying to pull me in the direction of the Hospital Wing, but I continued determinedly towards the place were my bed was.

Eventually, we made it through the portrait hole. My head felt like it was breaking in to and every part of my body ached.

“Explain,” James said, sitting us down side by side on the couch.

I told him exactly what had happened. I owed him that much- after all, he had saved me.

Slowly, James’ face filled with anger and hatred.

“Why did you let them do it? You’re the best dueller in Hogwarts!” He said, exasperated once I had finished.

“They took my wand! I was scared and panicked. It felt like something was wrong.”

To be honest, even I didn’t know why I hadn’t acted. But I would work it out and I would stop those arses and whatever plans they had.

“You know, when I came in, and saw you lying there. I never want to feel that again. It was like my heart stopped. I thought you were dead.”

James’ voice was gentle and I felt myself leaning into him. I felt his warm breath on my face. His hand moved up and touched my cheek. I realised what was happening and couldn’t let it.

“No. James. I cant. Not just now. Not with everything going on.”

And I ran into my room, leaving behind the boy I was rapidly falling for…
